Character

Name: Yukio Okumura
Fandom: Blue Exorcist
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Time Period: End of chapter 29, during the fight with Todo.
Wing Color: Blue.
History: Bam!
Personality:

When not on a mission or being involved in his work, Yukio comes across as a kind and courteous young man who is incredibly mature for his age. He's an incredibly dedicated individual who worked hard to become an Exorcist and work his way up the ranks, becoming a meister in both the Dragoon and Doctor roles. Even in the worst of situations he seems able to keep a cool head, though there have be occasions where his true rage and bottled up feelings come to light past the cool and serious face he seems to put up, but he is quick to recover from these lapses into rage and maintain his level-headed facade. There are times where he can act timid and nervous, just like any normal fifteen year old can too, showing that even with his maturity there are occasions where he feels the burdens and normal basic emotions any fifteen year old can feel.

Being described as one of the 'oldest fifteen year olds out there', Yukio is often incredibly serious and possesses many of the qualities one would expect a traditional older brother have despite being the younger, being seen as incredibly popular amongst his peers and girls at True Cross (though he's not exactly quite sure what to do with said popularity with girls, act a little unsure and awkward with them outside of Shiemi) and often the one relied upon and called in when a situation turns bad. As he teaches demon pharmaceuticals as a part of the True Cross cram school, Yukio is blunt with his students when it comes to the dangers they will have to overcome in becoming exorcists and isn't one for making light of case or mission, being quick to remind anyone of the risk of severe injury or death.

When it comes to being an Exorcist, Yukio is a professional first and foremost. Whilst he intends to do the best he can he is aware Exorcists are not superheroes or anything like that, so promises to save others lives and rescue people cannot be made in case the worst comes to the worst. All situations he greets with a firm understanding of what is going on and a well thought out, formulated plan with the best course of action in mind for how to execute it without failure or error, providing everything goes the way it was planned without any slips ups on the part of others involved.

Whilst understanding what are the core qualities of an Exorcist, heart, mind and body, Yukio is one for bottling up his emotions and not being honest with himself. Whether it is just to continue blending in with the rest of the crowd around him or for whatever reason, Yukio tends to keep his inner emotions to himself, especially regarding Fujimoto and Rin and how he feels about both of them.
Having had a less than wonderful childhood, to put it lightly, having always been able to see demons and being physically weak and unable to stand up for himself, being bullied a lot of the time and having to rely on his older brother to come along and fight his fights for him, the fact he is a now strong person both in mind and body now shows how far he has come. Since a young age where Father Fujimoto offered Yukio the chance to become stronger and to be able to protect his older brother, paying him back for all he had done for him, Yukio took this chance to better himself and overcome all that once held him back when he was a child.

Rin is whole different matter when it comes to how Yukio approaches relationships and interaction with others in general. Depending on the situation Yukio can get along well with his brother, engaging in pleasant conversation one moment and reminding him about his work and training the next. He does what he can to help his brother study, as ineffective as anything Yukio suggests might be, and spends a lot of time worrying, at first about how he's progressing and in general, later expanding into what might happen to Rin once it's revealed to everyone that he is the son of Satan. Though he wants to protect Rin and he worries deeply about him, Yukio also hates how his brother acts, trying to be cool and acting on a whim without thinking things through, a literal love-hate relationship. Envy also plays a part, given Rin was seemingly given a large amount of raw power out of nowhere, which far surpasses Yukio's own even with all the training he has been through. It is times where Rin needs to come in and 'save the day' as it were that Yukio admits to himself that no matter what he does he won't be able to match the strength of his older brother. Whilst Yukio is hung up on formalities and acting in accordance to the rules, Rin tends to do more of his own things which pays off for him more than sticking to the rules ever did for Yukio. To spur Rin's development on, Yukio challenges him to try and surpass him not in power but as an Exorcist. Once Rin is left in solitary confinement it's clear Yukio is disappointed in his brother and the choices he made, wondering if this was what he had in mind when he had intended to try and surpass him.

Strengths:
Having gained titles in both Dragoon and Doctor, Yukio is an expert with firearms and possesses the aim of a professional with his pistols. He carries varying rounds of ammunition at all times to suit whatever situation he may find himself in, from normal standard issue bullets, silver bullets and ones imbued with magic and holy water. As well as his guns he also carries jars of holy water with him as a part of his arsenal. He has a very careful and precise shot, so much so he is capable of maintaining a conversation whilst also showing off his gun skills, such as with Shura at the practice range who is an Exorcist of a higher rank than himself.

Yukio has also shown the skills of a Tamer, being able to call out Naiads on his first attempt at summoning without ever having obtained the Tamer title.

Mentally, Yukio excels at planning out quick and effective methods to tackle the situation at hand. It is often Yukio who briefs the class on what is going on and how it is they will have to act in order to succeed. However there are times where his plans don't unfold exactly as how he had envisioned them to, often knocking him for six. Despite this Yukio has shown he is quick minded enough to bounce back from any complications and act quickly enough to properly counteract any unexpected flaws his plan might have had (namely brothers not staying put and exwires not shutting up and working together). He is often praised for his intellect, being one of the youngest to ever become an exorcist and teach at the cram school at True Cross. His knowledge of medicine and demon pharmaceuticals is also extensive, being able to quickly diagnose and treat others, such as a child infected with miasma boils which were further agitated by Rin's flame.

Though Yukio is capable of holding in his emotions and keeping everything inside and too himself, which must take an awful lot of effort to do given how much he's been through in his life, it is a quality such as this which makes him the prime target for a devil to take advantage of him and as such is more a weakness than a real strength.

Weaknesses:

Despite being Rin's brother, testing has shown that Yukio is only human and that he possesses none of the demonic qualities that his brother has shown. He cannot heal inhumanly fast or use any special abilities and as such relies fully on his skills with a gun and his mind when backed into a fight. Even then Yukio cannot match the raw power of Satan's son and so has to rely on other methods to fight or otherwise stop enemies and opponents, such as disrupting magic circles used for summoning.

Yukio also has incredibly poor eyesight and is always found to be wearing glasses, going as far as to carry perhaps hundreds of spares with him in his desk in the event a pair is damaged or broken. He also some physical self-image issues, mostly about his moles and how many more he has on show compared to his brother. Whilst a minor problem it is something he has been shown to fret about when comparing himself to Rin.

There really is little in the way of mental weaknesses for Yukio, though there are a number of emotional weaknesses to counteract this. As mentioned Yukio bottles up his emotions and is not honest with himself, qualities which Shura points out are exactly what would end with Yukio being taken over by a demon. Todo later tries distracting Yukio by bringing up his own similar past, trying to live up to be like his father and older brother, which clearly bothers Yukio when he thinks he could be similar to a person who was seduced by a demon, but as he did with Shura, pushes such thoughts out of his mind. It isn't until much later that Yukio acknowledges that whilst he loves and intends to protect his brother with all he can, he's also equally bothered and angered by the way he acts and admits that he both hates and loves his brother. Most of all though, Yukio hated his weaker, younger self, going on to state that he hates himself most of all.

First Person:

Good morning, it's nice to meet all of you. I'm intermediate first class Yukio Okumura.

[Not that that sort of title means much here, but old introductions die hard.]

I would like to offer my services as a doctor to anyone who might need them, no matter the time you need them or the illness. I might not be aware of any sort of ailment you might have contracted from a world unlike my own, though I'm more than willing to learn to help treat anything you might be having trouble with.

[The whole exorcising demons thing isn't as much of an issue here as back home, so would there really be much point in mentioning that part too? Probably not, perhaps later when he's read the guide over a third time and gathers a little more information on the 'drafts' here, then it might be relevant.]

As you might be able to tell by my name I am the brother of Rin Okumura who I understand has been here for some time before me. Whilst I can't offer anything more than an apology to those he might have [Harassed. Attacked. So on.] bothered in the past, please rest assured that I intend to take full responsibility for his actions from today onwards.

Should you need a private consultation then I would be more than happy to set up a filter or meet you in person to discuss matters. [And yes, he means this in regards to both his brother and the medicinal side of things.] Thank you for your time!

Third Person:

Treating to the injured in the midst of a battle was nothing new to Yukio by this point and if anything he felt right in his environment bandaging a villager's arm whilst fending off attacks from the Third Party. Whilst his first impression of these soldiers worried him, the extra precautions that were taken to ensure the entire draft force were properly equipped with medicinal supplies and a reliable plan in mind were working wonders. It had almost become a foreign sensation to him, figuring out a working plan and starting it up without it backfiring in his face because one person couldn't stay put and hold such and such a location. That feeling when a good plan comes together really is quite rewarding.

Of course when a soldier breaks a barricade further down from his current location and advances with murderous intent on the non-combatants he really isn't all that surprised. Or at least he shouldn't be by now. It was a minor setback, one that could be quickly resolved.

Retrieving one gun from its holster and taking aim the solider is dispatched in an instant and the threat gone. A moment later and another soldier approaches, and another, five, seven, seemingly growing numbers. Someone wasn't following the plan, someone must have decided to go off and do their own thing. There's a sigh as Yukio replaces his gun and finishes tying the bandage on the downed villager's arm next to him with his other hand.

"You'll need to keep your arm in a bent position close to your body, like this. If you'll wait a moment I'll fit you with a sling to make it easier for you."

And he really does mean only a moment, a moment which he uses to quickly fire at any immediate threats to him or anyone else and then barking orders to anyone capable of fighting to do so to hold the line whilst able non-combatants quickly erect a barricade to halt the Third Party.

"Now for the sling to hang properly off your shoulder you'll need to sit up whilst I tie the bandage."

The transition between Doctor and Dragoon was practically flawless and the plan to push back the Third Party was working as though it had been worked on for days rather than thought up in a tight desperate minute. Despite the earlier slip up things seemed to be looking up, hopefully from here on for the rest of the draft.
