Today's Observer Review included a photo of a piece in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park by Jaume Plensa (whose website is here), an artist born in Barcelona in 1955 and now working in France, Spain and the USA. The image caught my eye because if shows part of a large sculpture of a human form, made entirely out of capital letters in a sort of mesh, made of metal. The YSP exhibition website is here. ARE YOU COMING? Installation by Trina Teoh Acrylic Block Lettering, 2022. Trina Teoh is a writer and artist. Her text-based art revolves around the many intricacies of connection. She began her practice as a street artist painting poetry throughout the streets of Georgetown and Kuala Lumpur. Her debut exhibition, Valley Deep Into You explored the notion of site - specific textual lanugage through mediums of sculpture, installations and prints.

A multi-media installation uses typography and the most advanced digital technologies to ethically engage the audience.

Pseudonymous Indian street artist DAKU recently installed an immersive text-based work in Panjim, Goa. Placed along 31st January Road, a fishnet structure suspends letters above pedestrians. The region’s abundant sunlight pours through to cast shadows on the street, spelling out tropes about the passage of time. Some of the phrases include, “Time works wonders.
