A first firing to fuse one or two layers of dichroic glass plus a clear glass, the latter gives a beautiful depth and a soft, lustrous finish. After cutting the jewel to obtain a perfect shape, a second firing takes place to polish the slices which are chamfered on the back for comfort on the skin…

This post is a continuation of a tutorial on layering dichroic glass to make gorgeous fused glass jewelry. For the first part of the tutorial, check out this post... This pendant was created in my workshop using the fusing technique. Small pieces of dichroic glass were fused to black glass in a high temperature kiln. Nice mix of pink, mauve, blue,... Dichroic glass is obtained by the multiple melting of micro-thin layers of different metals sprayed on the surface of the glass. It captures the light and sends us iridescent and dazzling colors.
