We chose the desert because it’s where we live 🌵 Gather pieces of cardboard the same length Trace out a layer of the landscape on each piece of cardboard Cut the layers out Arrange them from front to back. Ideally the pieces should get smaller as you work your way to the top Choose a color for the background and paint Each time you move to a new layer, add a drop of black paint so that the color gets gradually darker Your last (top) layer should be the darkest Glue your pieces together and add a sun if you would like Stand back and admire your painting. I did the cutting and helped with adding the drop of black to the paint. Lesson idea: Planar Landscape sculptures

Here's another lesson idea that was done only once two years ago and then never revisited again! In theory, this project is an awesome idea. In reality, it was a huge challenge as a first project (for the 3D foundational kids) and it was a real pain in the patushky (overall) for me since it required me to just about push the project through to the end. Well, I'm all over the place from time to time, with this project and that project. My current project is a terrain project using cardboard taking a more topographical approach. I saw these photos of terrain made with cardboard and sand, I gave it some thought, and wanted to have something sorta on the same line.
