Mohamed Abdein was born in Sohag, Egypt in 1978. He has been a lecturer of biology and genetics at the Biology Department, Faculty of Arts and Science, Northern Border University (NBU), Saudi Arabia since 2010, and a private biology and genetics researcher specializing in quantitative genetics, genetic engineering, molecular biology, plant breeding, and plant tissue culture. Prior to joining NBU, Mohamed Abdein worked as lecturer and plant breeder at the Vegetable Breeding Department, Horticulture Institute, ARC, Giza, Egypt for ten years. Mohamed Abdein graduated in June 2000 from the Genetics Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University of Egypt with a B.Sc. in genetics; has an M.Sc. in genetics from the Genetics Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University, Egypt (March 2005); and a Ph.D. in genetics from the Genetics Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University, Egypt (September 2016). His main research interests include plant breeding, molecular markers, and the survey of the flora of wild and aromatic plants. His current research interests include the use of quantitative genetics and molecular markers to improve the yield and qualities of vegetable crops and plant breeding for disease resistance and environmental stress. He is also a reviewer for many international journals.
