Prof. Simone König is a trained physical chemist who obtained her PhD from the University of Leipzig, Germany. Her postdoctoral stay with Henry M. Fales at the National Institutes of Health, USA, introduced her to mass spectrometry and she has continued to work on biological applications of the technique as the Head of Core Unit Proteomics at the Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research, University of Münster, Germany, where she is a docent. Her research involves methodological and instrumental developments as well as the biological and medical applications of mass spectrometry. Her recent projects include protein expression analysis and peptide de novo sequencing in various systems.
