Water towers store not only water but also potential energy, which allows the water to flow out of the holding tank when needed.

The water tower was built in 1910 by the Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. In 1911 the C.W. Parker Amusement Company was launched in Waterloo, and the water tower paint scheme reflects that ownership. Waterloo is also home of Trek Bicycle Corporation, Van Holten Pickles, and (formerly home of) Perry Printing, all these companies are represented on the water tower. (Perry Printing changed hands several times and is now closed but remains a part of Waterloo's heritage.) 43°10'49.8"N 88°59'31.6"W

On the morning of Feb. 6, one of Rowlett’s oldest water towers was demolished after it was determined to have been severely damaged by the Dec. 26, 2015, tornado.
