I’m using Amaco velvet underglaze colours, some watered down some mixed with other colours to get the right shade and then a @maycocolors designed liner in black to add the details.

Top tip, keep a wet sponge handy to keep the pin to clean the nib of your designed liner (or slip trailer) on if it gets clogged and also to wipe excess colour from the nib if it builds up.

🌞 these side plates are earmarked for a customer but I’ll be making more, they’re in the kiln now, hooray!

Emma Puddick Pottery on Instagram: "In my last reel, I showed you how I apply underglaze transfers to my mugs - here’s what I do before that!

The transfers come in sheets - these have 48x33cm of usable pattern on them - which I cut to size for my pots. They are an expensive material (one sheet will set you back close to a tenner from a UK retailer) so I use them as efficiently as I can. For my mugs, I use a strip to go around the body and a smaller strip to cover the handle. I have worked out a pattern to get 7 mug strips and 7 handle strips from 2 sheets of transfer and I stick to it religiously.

I’ve done so many of these! Originally I would cut them one sheet at a time with scissors! Then I upgraded to a rotary cutter and the real game changer was getting a 50cm ruler 📏😆

Maya Rumsey on Instagram: "A little taste of the online prerecorded Surface Decoration workshop I just listed in my shop. I’ve had many requests to make this workshop. I go over in DETAIL how I decorate my work. I hope I answered your questions!!

Follow the link to my online workshops for all the info!

I go over laying out designs, applying underglaze to large sections, using a simple squeeze bottle for my black liner, waxing over underglaze, some basics on glazing including waxing over top of glaze, sanding my finished work and finally all things AirPen.

Also… aren’t these diamond pads from @diamondcoretools are the best?!!!

I have some rather detailed drawings I paint/draw onto some of my clay items. I've tried a few tools but haven't yet come up with something that is easy to use and creates a pretty consistent fine line. Currently, my best bet is the Mayco Designer Line (https://www.dickblick.com/products/mayco-de...
