Because of winter break and other holiday-time activities, my week with my 1st graders was cut down into only 2 days, so instead of trying to do the alligator weaving project, I opted to change it up and we made snowglobes instead! Mrs. Beth Dreyer on Instagram: "2nd grade (quick) Snowman Faces! . Last week, my 2nd graders only had two days (after finishing a project that hadn’t been completed) to create a project for our arctic unit. I was trying to figure out what to make but eventually landed on snowmen. Now the challenge was how to get done in only two days. I was inspired by a project from @juliescolorwheel … and so our snowman heads on plaid backgrounds were born 😂 . The backgrounds were created with @kwikstixpaint and we created the snowmen faces with paper collage and a little bit of chalk, pastel to add value and depth. Not too shabby for two days, huh?! . . . #art #ArtEd #ArtEducation #ArtEducator #ArtTeacher #ArtClass #ArtClassroom #Classroom #ArtRoom #ArtTeacher #ElementaryArtElementary #ElementaryArtCla Kindergarten Value Art Lesson, Snow Day Art Projects For Kids, Art Projects Second Grade, Snowman Directed Drawing For Kids, One Day Winter Art Lessons Elementary, Art Lessons For 1st Grade, Christmas Art 1st Grade, Winter Hat Art Project For Kids, Mittens Art For Kids

I needed a quick winter themed artwork for a holiday card deadline and thank goodness for the great ideas at McLean Magnet ES found on Artsonia - I knew their landscapes would be a nice inspiration for my first graders, who learned about creating space in a landscape through size and placement choices. First we sketched in the hills and bare branched trees, and added a moon and a few footprints in the snow. Next, we painted colorful skies to contrast with the hills of white snow and topped…
