Queen Victoria Crown

A sapphire and diamond coronet designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria has been acquired by the V&A Museum. It was previously sold by a London dealer to an overseas buyer but was blocked from export by the government in 2015.

A coloured lithograph of the Imperial State crown with a blue velvet cap and the Black Princes ruby in the centre; with four commemorative coins and the mace on a red velvet cushion trimmed with gold. With an inscription below: The Imperial Crown of Great Britain / Which In Obedience To The Command Of / Her Most Sacred Majesty Queen Victoria / was expressly made for the solemnity of the Coronation.
