The title of this post might refer to how long it's been since my last post...or that I have AT LONG LAST a WINNER of the BLEACHERS pattern! Designed by Angela Walters and published by Empty Bobbin Studios, the lucky winner is #34 - Jody! Jody - look for an e-mail from me and I'll get the pattern sent out to you by the weekend!
So...it's been a month since my last post. What a wild and wacky month it has been. First of all, QUILT MARKET was in Kansas City and I was lucky enough to be a part of the fun. I was able to meet Weeks Ringle of Modern Quilt Studio. Weeks and her husband Bill Kerr provided me with my introduction to Modern Quilting. What a thrill!
Also during Market, the KC and the St. Louis MQGs hosted a Modern Meet Up. The event was amazing...beyond all of our expectations. Everyone was there...and I mean EVERYONE! It was wildly successful. What an experience!
As exciting as Quilt Market was, it still is not the "big thing" going on in my life right now. In early May, I started a new job and have moved to Austin, Texas. The rest of my family will join me once our house in Kansas is sold *fingers crossed that it will be soon*. I'm already very well settled into work and have already had some AMAZING travel opportunities!
I hitched a ride on this bad boy, non-stop from Dallas to London Heathrow. Needless to say, the weather in London was quite a bit different than in Texas!

I arrived at 9 a.m. on Monday morning and spent the day exploring wet, cold and windy London with a colleague. We saw the Palace, Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and the National Portrait Gallery and then it was time to head back to our hotel near Heathrow...where we were trapped in conference rooms for the next 2 days!

After London, it was off to Lyon, France. Lyon is known as the gastronomy capitol of France...which is saying a lot! After a couple of long days at work, we were very happy to head out and eat some fabulous food. The first night I had a lovely salad of haricots verts, asparagus, artichoke hearts, baby greens and foie gras...with an entree of tartare de boeuf. Yes...I ate raw beef and it was delicious!
It was a very productive trip and the best thing was that it was a tremendous opportunity for me to get to know some of my colleagues - to start establishing those work relationships that are so important in a productive work environment. Tomorrow I head off again - but fortunately I won't be leaving my own time zone...and the best part is that when my meetings are done on Thursday, I'll be able to head down to Kansas and spend a long weekend with my family and my friends. By some wonderful happenstance, the KC MQG Sewing Sunday *just* happens to be this weekend! :-)
So...I'd better get packing! This will be the first business trip in which a couple of WIPs will make their way into my luggage!
