14kt Double European Cut Diamond 46 ptw Ring

This is not something that you see everyday. This ring is a typical solitaire style from the 1950s but it has 2 diamonds instead of just one. One of the diamonds is a European cut round that measures 3.95 - 3.77 x 2.30 mm for an estimated weight of 0.23 carats. This diamond has borderline SI1 to VS2 clarity and H color. The inside of the diamond is definitely VS2, but there is a natural line on the outside that would put it to SI1 by today's standards. The line would have been there from the time that the diamond was cut. The other diamond is a transitional European cut diamond that measures 3.81 - 3.74 x 2.41 mm for an estimated weight of 0.23 carats. This diamond has VS1 clarity and H color. The fact that this has 2 diamonds and that one is clearly an older cut than the other means that this was probably a family piece. It is common for people to combine their diamond with their mother's or their mother's with their grandmother's diamonds, so they probably had this piece custom made to hold them both side by side. The heads are squared at the top and illusion style to make the tones look bigger. The heads are white gold and the shank is yellow gold. The ring is stamped DIA-MT-14K and weighs 2.2 grams.
