Surkanda Devi Hindu Temple is located around Kanatal. This temple is located 22km from Chamba and 8km from Dhanaulti in Tehri district. According to mythological beliefs, Mother Sati sacrificed her life in the Havan Kund after the mother of Sati's father Daksha Prajapati insulted Lord Shiva.  Then Lord Shiva was carrying the dead body of maa Sati to Mount Kailash.
