If you’re like me you can’t see spending hundreds of dollars buying these big pumpkins. But they are sooo beautiful!! So let’s make some out of paper mache. Note: I added salt to the mixture to help prevent mold. Also I painted them with some wall paint that I had around the house.. (gray paint). Painting them with a little white chalk paint and adding moss, leaves and feathers creates the sweetest, one of a kind pumpkins for our home each fall. I love being creative and thinking outside the box when coming up with diy decor and fall is my favorite season to do just that! Bringing the outdoors in and using beautiful fall leaves straight out of our yard is a fun and super inexpensive way to add all those amazing autumn colors to our home. For this vintage cat pail I used a pumpkin from goodwill and glued it to a bowl with E6000
I let that dry overnight and then I covered it in modpodge and paper towels
While that dried I soaked 4 egg cartons in water to soften them up
Then I blended them into a pulp.
I used a nut milk bag to squeeze the water out of the pulp and then I mixed the pulp with Elmer’s school glue to make my paper mache paste
I covered my cat in it and it was still pretty lumpy so I poured a bit of glue and smoothed it with my fingers
This step is very important if you don’t want a lumpy surface.
After that I left it out to dry in the sun
When it was completely dry I painted it, covered the handle in twine and that’s it!
