Statements about a loud argument incriminate the caterer Giovanni Lazzari, who has traces of smoke on his hand and has to admit illegal possession of a pistol. At the request of Lazzari's wife Cristina, Borchert and his boss Dominique take over the defense. However, his instinct tells the "lawyer without a license" that his client may not have fired the fatal shot, but that he was involved in the crime. Borchert also uses the observation skills of the experienced Corinna Riemer, to whom he feels attracted, and thus comes across an intimate secret and two other murder suspects: Altweger's younger wife and his nephew Stephan are a couple.
