Orange pizzelle recipe

I wanted a different flavor for my Italian pizzelle instead of just vanilla, anise, or chocolate. I thought about this for a couple of weeks before settling on cardamom as the main ingredient. Glad I did!

These pizzelle Christmas cookies (spiced orange pizzelle cookies) give all the warm and fuzzies that come with the holiday season. They are festive, have an amazing flavor combination, and are beautifully patterned.

These crispy orange pizzelle are flavored with orange zest and triple sec for a bright twist on the classic Italian holiday cookies.

The classic Italian cookie passed from Aunt Vi to my Grandma Aurora, reworked into a chocolate orange variety. Grandma always made the traditional anise flavor and sometimes almond, but the recipe card given to me gives options for a lemon or orange cookie. I decided to try chocolate orange instead and it turned out better than I had hoped.
