Red Coral and Turquoise Necklace Every piece of jewelry I make is made with specific meaning. In this piece I chose to use red coral. For the Mexica red coral is symbolic of fertility and can be used for blood conditions. I also chose to use turquoise because it is a protective stone that protects against outside energy not belonging to you. Every piece of jewelry I make for myself is finished with a lava rock and 3 pieces of turquoise at the end of each strand. The Mexica acknowledge lava rocks as our abuela(o)s, our grandmothers and grandfathers. They remind us of the knowledge and wisdom that our ancestors carried which we also carry as we are connected to them.
