▶Why This Belongs In Your Jewelry Box◀ This is one of those rings that would appear to be truly one of a kindI have seen so many opal rings, antique and modern, but I have never seen one with such an elegant and arresting structure. A flat pure yellow gold shank twists into a narrowing wishbone form, and the "caged" precious opal cabochon--in all likelihood an Australian opal--contained by narrow and somewhat long prongs, seems to ascend, glorious in its elevated North/South orientation. It is a tremendously elegant ring, one which can be dated to the bolder, more imaginative designs of the late 1970s and 1980s. ODILE has an excellent over-all condition with no wear to the setting; the most we can detect is an incidental, very faint crazing of the opal, so slight it does not really show up in photos or even in most lights. The stone is nevertheless a luminous standout of an opal cabochon: stable and fabulous. This ring is currently a size 7/7.25, and sizeable within reason, but please consult with your jeweler to ensure that they are willing to take on the work.
