Marie Duplessis was born in 1824 as Rose Alphonsine Plessis in a poor family she was passed around as a child and only moved to Paris when she came of age. While in Paris she was constantly in and out of jobs and soon came to realise that her looks were best asset. So she began her life as a courtesan and began to work her way up to the wealthiest citizens of Paris. Edna Waugh (1879-1979) British artist, illustrator and poet born 29 July 1879 in Shipbourne, Kent to parents; Congregational Minister, Benjamin Waugh (1839-1908) and Sarah Elizabeth Boothroyd (1839-1932). She married barrister Sir William Clarke Hall (1867-1932) in 1898. Their sons were Justin James Clarke Hall (1905-1983) and Denis Lucian Clarke Hall (1910-2006).
