Northern Golden Orb Weaver (Nephila pilipes) - Also known as the giant golden orb weaver, the northern golden orb weaver is a large species of Nephilid spider which is distributed throughout southern Asia, Indonesia, Australia and parts of Oceania. Nephila pilipes typically occur in primary and secondary forests, but can also be found in urban areas like gardens. N. pilpies can grow quite large with some females reaching lengths of 30-50 mm, making them one of the bigger spider species.
