Juliette’s Wheelhouse on Instagram: "Carving the first of 3 large bowls that I threw the other day. This one is the smallest and is 13 inches across (it will shrink when fired). I decided to carve all 3 differently but I won’t know what pattern I will use until I’m sitting in front of each one. Tools used: @diamondcoretools P11XW Curved Extra-Wide V Tip 18 mm Carving Tool and P1 Curved V Tip Carving Tool. Juliette’s Wheelhouse on Instagram: "Carving an intricate pattern on a big bowl can be difficult because I can’t hold it in my lap and maneuver it around to fit my hand position just right without warping it. So I keep it on a banding wheel and maneuver my position to fit the bowl, which can look a little silly at times, but that’s ok 😂 This shallow bowl is one of the 3 large bowls I threw recently (14” across). I love the shape of the bowl, but carvings don’t stand out as well on lower, shallow sides, so I had to come up with a design that is bold and deep enough to catch the light and also catch your eye. Hopefully I accomplished that. I guess it all depends on what glaze I decide to use 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 Tool used: @diamondcoretools P17 Straight U Tip 3 mm Carving Tool Clay: Sheltowee by Ke Clay Hacks, Bowl Carving, Large Bowls, Shallow Bowl, Because I Can, Big Bowl, Used Tools, Carving Tools, Large Bowl
