Ancient Stone Village With Thatched RoofsDrawing of the reconstructed Inca houses at Machu Picchu. Traditional Inca village houses today are similar except that most are made with adobe bricks instead of stones. The straw roofs are still commonly used. People patch up their houses at the end of the rainy season (March or April.) Often when a house is no longer needed it is left to "go back to the earth" since the materials are natural. In many ways the Inca people live in harmony with the earth. Repinned by Elizabeth VanBuskirk
