Clays are a wonderful additive in soaps. They will gently smooth and exfoliate your skin without irritating. This tutorial uses pink clay, an extra gentle clay blended with essential oils.

Kaolin clay is rich in the mineral silica. Silica is said to be important for the maintenance of skin's elastin. Of course silica should come from internal sources first and foremost, but using kaolin clay soap is a fun way to get it right onto your skin. Luckily, adding clay to soap is fairly simple. You just really want to take your time when incorporating the clay into your batter so you don't end up with clumps. PRO TIP: Hydrating the clay makes a world of difference! Click for recipe
