Hello everyone, I’m glad that you’re here! I’m an illustrator and concept designer with a master's degree in architecture. As the title suggests, this course is about drawing shadows. It's a slightly technical subject but shading have a huge impact on aesthetical values and an atmosphere of an artwork. It gives an impression of 3-dimentionality and even reality to flat drawings... if it’s placed correctly of course. I’ve noticed that many shading tutorials explain vaguely this phenomena…

A ghostly apparition rises from the ground, its form flickering and distorted, reaching out with skeletal fingers. The air crackles with arcane energy, casting long, ominous shadows on the desolate landscape.

We have already posted an article about shading cartoons and comics...so you can consider this part 2 of the cartoon shading tutorials. This article will discuss sketching simple objects and people in different positions in relation to a light source and how it affects the shadows and shading of that subject.
