No more blogging

Dear friends!
As you may have seen there has not been any blog entries in a long time. That is because our blog only got about 1-2 hits per month in over a year. So instead of continuing to blog for ourselves :), we'd rather stick with email!

Transylvania

We'll go to Transylvania for a week long mission trip. Pray for our team of 2 students and 5 staff.  We'll serve with the Transylvanian CCC group. We'll hand out Student Survival Kits, call back and meet with open students. One of our colleges will give a talk on the weekly meeting and in some high schools. Pray for the local and traveller team: growing together in Christ, health, unity, open students, blessed meetings, decisions to Christ. Pray for Zach's talks! Pray for long term relationships. Thanks! :)

"The harvest is plentiful"

We just ended a wonderful week with a group of Americans! We served together on the Campuses, High Schools, dorms, countryside. We distributed about an additional 700 Freshmen Survival Kits (FSK) this week just in our target area of 3 campuses. We had two great dorm evens, we talked about "How to prepare for a job interview" and "Freakonomics - the funny side of economics". There were about 30 new students at every dorm event, mostly open to hear more about Christ. Kalman and Lorraine (who gave one of the talks) had a deep and long conversation with Blanka and Edina. They had questions like: "Do you ever doubt God?" They met again, the girls still had many deep questions, but seemed closer to the decision. We'll meet them again this week on Wednesday, please pray for them. We had a great weekly meeting with the topic: sex and intimacy, and there were about 170 students. There was a student, Orsi. She is from Transylvania, came to Budapest with a scholarship for a semester. She got a FSK just that same morning and decided to come. She seemed to be alone in the city, was open to hear more about christianity and it turned out she lives in the same dorm as Zsofi (one of Julcsi's disciples). Our friend and supporter, Henry Rogers was a part of the american group. He was here last year and initiated to a student (Andi) and shared the Gospel with her. Later Andi became a believer. Henry is her "spiritual Dad". Henry had the chance to meet Andi's family this weekend. I'm sure God has a wonderful plan with this family! We had other great conversations too, and this week was a great impact on our relationship with Christ. And it's true: "the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few"

Prayer requests for September

- Freshman Survival Kit distributions - this week we give a folder to several thousand freshman. The folder includes a survey with the question: "If you could know God personally, would you be intrested?". The students return the surveys with their email address and cell number. PRAY for the students who are interested in knowing God and talking with us about a personal relationship with Him! A video from last year!

- Contrast Exhibition: starts today in a city and two weeks from now in another city. One of them is Julcsi's hometown. The idea is from a pastor, a former YTL volunteer, who asked us to give talks parallel with the exhibition about sex, AIDS and the Gospel. Every high school student has to take part in this exhibit and our presentations as well. The exhibition is open to everybody. PRAY for these cities, that through this event, many people would understand the Gospel and come to Christ. Pray also for the local churches to be able to follow-up new believers.

- Our priority in our personal life and ministry: to go deeper in the Word and in prayer, desiring holiness. To live a life which that would touch others. We know, even though we grow in numbers and in size, if our ministry doesn't get deeper, our groth doesn't matter. PRAY for us and our students to be motivated to be holy!

Thanks for your prayers!

Summer of 2010

This summer has been amazing! We have worked hard and played hard. God has shown us so much and allowed us to have so much fun at the same time! It has been a busy summer of moving from one thing to the next. Being in the US was super fun, and then we went on to SpeakOut which was a blast. After that we got to enjoy a sweet time of vacation in the High Tatras of Slovakia and then we headed to our CCC Staff Conference. We just returned and it was a great time of teaching and focusing on the fall/future of our ministry. We studied the book of Haggai. Julia and I both learned a lot, were challenged and encouraged. God also led our leaders to rearrange some of the leadership responsibilities and teams to better accommodate the growth and future needs of the ministry and for the sake of reaching our ministry goals in Hungary. These changes are very encouraging...
It means our Budapest Campus Team will now work much more with the Budapest High school Team and will together be called Budapest Metro Team. It al
so means Kalman will be leading the ELTE and Károli Universities' target area team. He is also going to be in the Budapest Metro Team Leadership. So please pray for him, for wisdom in walking with God, leading and planning his time even better.

But hey, let us tell you a little more about SpeakOut!

SpeakOut is a multi-layered summer project that includes lots of evangelism and discipleship on different levels.

Layer #1: We run an English camp for Hungarian students from all over the country, most that attend are non-believers. American students come over and are the tutor group leaders. They build relationships all week and share their faith with these campers daily. These American students are trained and discipled all summer long as they pour out to others.

Layer #2: We have Christian Hungarian students who are involved in our movement who come and serve for the month. They serve along side the Americans and also spend most of their day at the streets and beaches of Lake Balaton sharing Christ. These students are also in discipleship groups and are trained and discipled all summer long. From this group of Hungarian students there are also teams that get sent out mission trips from SpeakOut. This year 3 teams were sent to Romania, Albania, and the city of Siofok here in Hungary.

Julia and me led the team to Csikszereda, Romania again. It was absolutely awesome! In fact it was so encouraging it deserves its own post. Do check out the video we posted just below this post... and pictures by clicking here or on the image below.

This Summer, the total number...
... of workers: 127 (Americans: 47 - Hungarians: 80)
... approached with the Gospel: 2597
... heard the Gospel: 1599
... started a relationship with Christ: 94!

Thank you for all of your prayers and support. We could not be a part of this ministry
movement without you! God is blessing the ministry here in Hungary. Thank you for caring for the lost of this world. We are grateful that God has called us into this ministry and we are so very thankful that each of you support the work here in Hungary!

A Trip to Hungary
