Cynthia Meets Xenos
As she observed him, in turn, he observed her, captivated by her innocent soft allure and taking note of the familiar enchanted bracelet on her right wrist. And at long last, she became aware of his armor while he became aware of the natural power she processes. “Oh, Tate, how did you get this armor?” she foolishly asked, “And how did you’ve … how did you all suddenly get so … so … old?” Lord Xenos grunted, arched his back, and was offended by her comments. He inquired, in a deep and husky voice, “And who are you, little girl?” The air grew tense as his cold eyes bore into hers, but she didn’t care any of it. “Do you not remember me?” she purred seductively. “How could you have already forgotten about me, tiger? … Tiger … It’s me, Cynthia, your virgin moon witch.”
Okay, sex kitten, let’s not play anymore games. What the hell is with you? Can you blame me?
He rolled his eyes and muttered. “Oh, come on, babe.” “It’s Cynthia,” she corrected him. “How about I call you sugar lips?” “God, no.” “How about your new name is Foxy?” “No!” “How about you will be my sweetie pie?” “What?” she shook her head, “No.” “Okay, sex kitten, let’s not play any more games.” “What the hell is with you?” “Can you blame me?” Tate distanced himself from her, muttering with a mixture of anger and frustration, “I’ve endured being confined within the tome for so long, and … never mind.” He walked towards the other two, and asked, “What does it take for a woman to get naked these days? Flowers and wine?”

“Yes, it is the only thing you desire, Queenie.”
“Accompany with me to the guards’ chamber,” he commanded. She brushed her silver blonde hair to the side, tucking it behind her ears. “Why, Xenos? What is the purpose?” “I have a gift for you, my darling.” “A gift?” “Yes, it is the only thing you desire, Queenie.” “Oh?” “Blood.” She formed a malicious grin as Xenos finally revealed, “Blood from Tate’s lover.” Queenie erupted into giggles, “Kinky. Kinky.”

I’m a Xerian. I am cursed.
Alex shoved Tate in the back, and they finally stopped in their tracks. Alex chuckled and tried to catch his breath. “Shit! At this point, your life will be at risk from the curse you processed.” “I’m a Xerian. I am cursed.” Lex tried to catch his breath once more and let out a heavy sigh. He snarled, “Whatever the opposite of ‘having your shit together’ is what you are. Following the king’s orders is enough to keep us safe and alive. The LaVeist and Angel Nera are all we have left, and our Lord could have us punished. They could skin you alive, Tate.” “Will they be able to skin a Xerian alive?” “Fucking Bastard.” “You should take your break and go rest—or go see your family at the townsmen camp. You’ll need to return to work after with fresh and reenergized hatred for your job.”

Before Alex was about to take another step, he said, “Hey, Tate.” “Lex.” “Why didn’t the skeleton go to the party?” Tate’s mood has transformed into a radiant smile of delight. “Why?” “Because he has nobody to go with.” Both men exchanged a fascinating amusement with one another. “Good one, Lex.” “No … body to go with.” Tate watched Alex descend the steps, get on top of his horse, and vanish into the dense black forest.

“I won’t leave you.” Drawing closer, and in a hushed tone, he confessed, “I love you.” Hearing those words, she was taken aback. Her gaze shifted from his injured arm to his mesmerizing aqua-blue eyes. The look on her face was unforgettable, no longer blank but focused and captivating. Whispering, she asked, “How do you know what love is?” He sighed, “I have studied the ways of humans. Although, perhaps, I didn’t need to study at all. I can simply look at you and understand the true meaning of love. Unlike the others, who turn a blind eye to what they’re missing.”

Before this very day, at the stroke of midnight, the celestial expanse would reveal its countless shimmering stars, suspended above the mountain peak. Unbeknownst to her grandparents, she would kindle a solitary candle, immersing herself once again in the passage of literature. Seated at her desk, she would weave intricate tales, transporting herself to alternate dimensions. Moreover, she held an unwavering fascination with the moon, which occasionally beckoned to her, inspiring her literary endeavors.
Zayden Le Cross
The high-ranking officer, who possessed over two decades of experience in law enforcement, emanated an air of authority that triggered a sense of familiarity in Tate. In all his years, Tate had never encountered such a commanding presence of a higher energy source, except for Xenos and himself. This officer was tall, boasting a broader chest and arms compared to Tate. His military-style haircut was dark copper tone, speck of reddish freckles was all over his face, and his almond-shaped eyes were a captivating shade of light blue and thick eyelashes. Tate guessed that he could be in his mid-forty or late thirty.
