- Wikimedia projects: Wikis, for example, Wikipedia or Wikibooks, are considered separate projects. However, each project can have multiple language editions. According to the new project policy, introducing an existing project in a new language does not count as creating a new project, it's simply a new edition of an existing one. Discussions about closing certain projects can be found on "Proposals for closing projects".
- WikiProject: This is a subproject within a wiki, organized by and for fewer Wikimedians. It focuses on coordinating work on specific topics, technologies, or campaigns. See also w:Wikipedia:WikiProject.
