Happy Birthday, Cookie

5 years old? How is that possible? We love you, Cookie.

Likes: cookies, anything pink, dancing, penguins, unicorns, swinging at the playground, reading Fancy Nancy books, coloring books and crayons, Strawberry Shortcake, watching the WonderPets, movie popcorn, bubble baths with mermaids, Magic Tree House book club, Barbies, playing Memory with the family, wearing tights and dresses

Dislikes: bed time, playing alone, shrimp and seafood, eating at mealtime, wearing jeans, waiting, being lactose intolerant

Her first birthday party with friends. Chuck got to party with Chuck E Cheese and all of her bff's.

Lego Robotics

Hooray for the "Girls with altitude" lego robotics team. They won " best presentation" at the regional qualifying meet. They advanced to state and won "best teamwork". The hard work and extra practices paid off and the girls were thrilled to have success with their robot.

Eight Years

First day of School 2011

Our girl is in Pre Kindergarten now. She is learning so much. She is beginning to read and loves painting and playing in the sandbox. She still wears dresses nearly every day and loves Pink.

Freckles is in 7th grade. She is a Math and Science girl. She loves writing, giraffes and baking cupcakes. (She reluctantly let me take her picture on the first day of school..)

Image our surprise and joy to find that we have a peach tree growing in the front yard!  We spotted it in July when we saw the fuzzy green fruit.  We moved into the house last August and there was no fruit... so we weren't sure. After some close observation and research, we discovered it was a dwarf peach tree. I guess the tree doesn't produce fruit for a few years.. 

 The girls and I watched closely over the next weeks as the green fruit began to turn yellow and then pink.

This has been a fabulous adventure. Cookie picks them everyday and we sit on the front porch eating them. Come on over and pick some.

The Lake

Living in Colorado is beautiful and we love it, but it is so dry. It is so hard to get  to water.  We took advantage of our vacation to Kentuckiana by swimming nearly every day. We went to pools, lakes, creeks etc. Our favorites were the lakes. We enjoyed Buffalo Trace Park-- disk golf, playing in the sand, diving on the diving board and floating on our floaties. A great day!

Nothing compares to Rough River though... We enjoyed Appa and Poppa's boat with family and friends...

Happy Independence Day

We spent Fourth of July Weekend at the Cherry Creek Art Festival. We love this place. We took our girls and our adopted girl and spent the day in the heat. It is wonderful to see the artists from around the country and get inspiration. Good food... shopping... and art... perfect.

This was Freckle's favorite...

The free hot dog stand was the Neice's favorite...

We also love love the children's craft tables. We made little drums, windsocks and mosaics..

D got me this red circle necklace for our anniversary from a fabulous little jewelry booth. I love it!

We watched fireworks from the deck with our friends. We had the best seats in the house for the Air Force display. The kids kept calling the finale a "finatalie". We had a blast...
