(in) dog people (we trust)_hollywood barks!

Τελευταία πήρε το μάτι μου (στο αγγλικό hello) μία ενδιαφέρουσα (αυτό κι αν είναι έκπληξη) συνέντευξη ενός διάσημου βρετανού που ζει με όχι 1 όχι 2 αλλά 8 (πρώη αδέσποτα) σκυλάκια.

Σίγουρα δεν έχουμε όλοι τις ίδιες δυνατότητες, πολύ μάλιστα ζοριζόμαστε και τους εαυτούς μας να σιτήσουμε και να ψυχαγωγήσουμε αυτές τις δύσκολες μέρες, πόσο μάλλον ένα σκυλάκο ή ένα άλλο αδέσποτο, παρόλα αυτά η ιστορία με άγγιξε, την διάβασα και την ξαναδιάβασα, και λίγο πολύ έπεσα (στην κλασική) λούμπα του να γκουκλάρω το θέμα για αρκετή ώρα.

Μπορεί να είναι μόνο μόδα, μπορεί να είναι κάτι παραπάνο, μπορεί να είναι μια σαχλαμάρα για να πουλήσουν ταινίες στο χόλυγουντ, όμως ό,τι κι αν κρύβεται από πίσω το αποτέλεσμα είναι increased awareness για ένα θέμα που είναι κομμάτι του πολιτισμού μας και τίποτα λιγότερο.

Η Alicia Silverstone έχει συνολικά 5 σκυλάκια. Τους Samson, Cale, Scottie, Jeffrey, και Lacey. Και τα 5 όπως λέει η ίδια ήταν αδέσποτα.

«My dogs are all rescued».

Η ίδια περιγράφει τον Samson, ως «rotweiller-pit bull-doberman».  Τον ανακάλυψε χτυπημένο και αιμόφυρτο στο Λος Άντζελες κατά τη διάρκεια γυρισμάτων για την ταινία «True Crime».  Αργότερα μάλιστα ο Samson συμμετείχε στο «Clueless».

Η Alicia είναι εκπρόσωπος της φιλανθρωπικής PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

H Jessica Alba έχει 2 σκυλάκια που τα ονομάζει Nancy (από τον χαρακτήρα της στην ταίνια Sin City του 2005) και Sid. (αναφορά στο δίδυμο των Sex Pistols, Sid and Nancy) . Στη φώτο ποζάρει με τα δύο σκυλάκια για το εξώφυλλο του περιοδικού Animal Fair. 

Το hollywood υιοθετεί αδέσποτα, το Animal Rescue Site δια στόμματος Adam Sandler μας προτρέπει να υπογράψουμε τo αίτημα ενάντια στην αφαίρεση των φωνητικών χορδών των γάτων και σκύλων!, ενώ οι Los Angeles Times κάνουν αφιέρωμα σε pet friendly ξενοδοχεία.

Η ασθένεια σήμερα

Ο καρκίνος του μαστού είναι ο συχνότερος τύπος καρκίνου στις γυναίκες. Περίπου 1 στις 9 γυναίκες θα αναπτύξει καρκίνο του μαστού κάποια στιγμή στη διάρκεια της ζωής της. Στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, περισσότερες από 250.000 νέες διαγνώσεις καρκίνου του μαστού γίνονται κάθε χρόνο και 90.000 γυναίκες πεθαίνουν από τη νόσο. Στην Ελλάδα, τα νέα περιστατικά ανέρχονται σε περίπου 4.500 ετησίως και οι θάνατοι από καρκίνο του μαστού σε περίπου 1.600.

Αν ο καρκίνος διαγνωσθεί αρκετά γρήγορα, πριν επεκταθεί σε άλλα όργανα, το πενταετές ποσοστό επιβίωσης των γυναικών με καρκίνο του μαστού ξεπερνά το 95%. Παρ’ όλες όμως τις προόδους στη διάγνωση και τη θεραπεία, ο καρκίνος του μαστού αποτελεί την κύρια αιτία θανάτων σχετιζόμενων με τον καρκίνο στις γυναίκες, και την υπ’ αριθμόν τρία αιτία θανάτου συνολικά στην Ευρώπη και τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες.

Η Ελλάδα είναι δυστυχώς από τις χώρες όπου η διάγνωση του καρκίνου του μαστού γίνεται συνήθως όταν η νόσος είναι σε αρκετά προχωρημένο στάδιο. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι ότι η νόσος ελέγχεται πιο δύσκολα και οι πιθανότητες να εξαπλωθεί ο καρκίνος στους γειτονικούς ιστούς και λεμφαδένες (τοπικά υποτροπιάζων καρκίνος) ή σε άλλα σημεία του σώματος (μεταστατικός καρκίνος) είναι πολύ περισσότερες. Τα όργανα στα οποία γίνεται συχνότερα μετάσταση είναι τα οστά (συνήθως το πρώτο σημείο μετάστασης), το ήπαρ, ο εγκέφαλος και οι πνεύμονες. Στην περίπτωση αυτή, ο ρεαλιστικός στόχος της θεραπείας είναι η ανακούφιση από τα συμπτώματα, η καθυστέρηση της εξέλιξης της νόσου και η παράταση της ζωής. Περίπου 50% των ασθενών στις οποίες δεν γίνεται έγκαιρη διάγνωση αναπτύσσουν μεταστατικό καρκίνο του μαστού και ο μέσος χρόνος επιβίωσής τους είναι 18 έως 30 μήνες.

The facts:

  • the biggest risk factor, after gender, is increasing age – 80% of breast cancers occur in women over the age of 50

  • breast cancer also affects men, but it is rare – around 300 men are diagnosed each year.

The stats:

  • nearly 46,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK. That’s one person every 11 minutes
  • just over 12,000 people die from breast cancer in the UK every year
  • breast cancer is the second biggest cause of death from cancer for women in the UK, after lung cancer
  • there are an estimated 550,000 people living in the UK today who have had a diagnosis of breast cancer
  • in women under the age of 35, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer.

The fiction:

  • Five years past diagnosis means I’ve got the ‘all clear’. As well as potentially experiencing long-term side effects of treatment, patients face the uncertainty that their cancer could return at any time – including a diagnosis of secondary breast cancer which can’t be cured, only controlled.
  • Stress causes breast cancer. Despite numerous studies, no definitive link between stress and breast cancer has been found.
  • Breast cancer is mainly a hereditary disease. Breast cancer can run in families, but fewer than 10% of cases are as a result of an inherited faulty gene.

Εντάξει το παραδέχομαι, googl-άρω ανθρώπους, καμιά φορά γνωστούς, να δω πόσα προσωπικά δεδομένα καταχωρεί το τέρας, καμιά φορά googl-άρω κι εμενα.

Παλιότερα κάποιος φίλος μου έστειλε ένα πανέμορφο animation που έφερε το όνομα μου. Μεγάλη περηφάνεια. Δεν σου λέω τίποτα. Δες το και θα καταλάβεις.

Μετά πάλι γέμισαν οι δρόμοι με αφίσες (καλά μην υπερβάλεις, μία-δύο αφίσες ήταν) της συνωνόματης από την Πορτογαλία. Η “Ιέρεια του fado” ήρθε για άλλη να μαγέψει το αθηναϊκό κοινό.

Στην βαρεμάρα απάνω πριν λίγο πληκτρολόγησα «marizz».

και ω του θαύματος, το μαγαζάκι έχει πολύ γουστόζικα ρούχα. αμέ πως, τι περίμενες με τέτοιο όνομα τίποτα της πλάκας? Δες και μόνος σου!

4 Οκτωβρίου – Παγκόσμια Ημέρα για τα Ζώα

World Animal Day is celebrated each year on 4 October. It started in Florence, Italy in 1931 at a convention of ecologists. On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated, and special events are planned on locations all over the globe. 4 October was originally chosen for World Animal Day because it is the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment. Numerous churches throughout the world observe the Sunday closest to 4 October with a Blessing for the Animals.

However, World Animal Day has now gone beyond being the celebration of a Christian saint and is today observed by animal-lovers of all beliefs, nationalities and backgrounds. Animal blessings are held in churches, synagogues, and by independent Animal Chaplains in parks and fields. Animal rescue shelters hold fundraising events and open days, wildlife groups organize information displays, schools undertake animal-related project work and individuals and groups of friends or co-workers donate to animal charities or pledge to sponsor a shelter animal.

Η Παγκόσμια Ημέρα για τα ζώα, που γιορτάζεται κάθε χρόνο στις 4 Οκτωβρίου, έρχεται να μας υπενθυμίσει ότι ο σεβασμός για τις άλλες μορφές ζωής είναι συχνά δείκτης για το σεβασμό μας στις ανθρώπινες αξίες.

Η Παγκόσμια Ημέρα των Ζώων πρωτογιορτάστηκε το 1931 σ’ ένα συνέδριο περιβαλλοντιστών στη Φλωρεντία, ως ένας τρόπος για την ευαισθητοποίηση κοινού και ειδικών για τα υπό εξαφάνιση ζώα. Από τότε, η γιορτή διευρύνθηκε και περιλαμβάνει όλα τα είδη του ζωικού βασιλείου.

Η 4η Οκτωβρίου καθιερώθηκε ως Παγκόσμια Ημέρα Ζώων, επειδη συμπίπτει με τον εορτασμό της μνήμης του Αγίου Φραγκίσκου της Ασίζης, που έχει αναγορευτεί από την Καθολική Εκκλησία ως προστάτης των ζώων και του περιβάλλοντος.

Γενικά, δεν μου αρέσουν οι παγκόσμιες ημέρες, ούτε οι ευχές.

Όμως σε αυτήν την περίπτωση θα ήθελα να κάνω μια ευχή. Εύχομαι να έρθει η μέρα που δεν θα χρειάζεται ο άνθρωπος αυτήν την παγκόσμια ημέρα. Που το αυτονόητο θα είναι αυτονόητο, και η λέξη σεβασμός θα έχει νόημα και αξία.

H Διεθνής Διακήρυξη των Δικαιωμάτων των Ζώων (1978)

Άρθρο 1
Όλα τα ζώα γεννιούνται με ίσα δικαιώματα στη ζωή και στη δυνατότητα ύπαρξης.

Άρθρο 2
1. Ο άνθρωπος οφείλει να σέβεται τη ζωή κάθε ζώου.
2. Ο άνθρωπος ανήκει στο ζωικό βασίλειο και δεν μπορεί να εξοντώνει ή να εκμεταλλεύεται τα άλλα είδη του ζωικού βασιλείου. Αντίθετα, οφείλει να χρησιμοποιεί τις γνώσεις για το καλό των ζώων.
3. Κάθε ζώο δικαιούται φροντίδας, προσοχής και προστασίας από τον άνθρωπο.

Άρθρο 3
1. Κανένα ζώο δεν πρέπει να υποβάλλεται σε κακομεταχείριση ή απάνθρωπη συμπεριφορά.
2. Αν η θανάτωση ενός ζώου θεωρηθεί υποχρεωτική πρέπει να γίνεις στιγμιαία, ανώδυνα και χωρίς καμιά πρόκληση αγωνίας του ζώου.

Άρθρο 4
1. Κάθε ζώο δικαιούται να ζήσει στο φυσικό του χώρο (γη, θάλασσα, αέρας) και να αναπαράγεται σύμφωνα με τους φυσικούς νόμους,
2. Η στέρηση ελευθερίας του ζώου ακόμη κι αν γίνεται για μορφωτικούς σκοπούς είναι αντίθετη προς τη διακήρυξη δικαιωμάτων αυτού.

Άρθρο 5
1. Κάθε ζώο που από παράδοση θεωρείται κατοικίδιο δικαιούται να ζήσει με το ρυθμό και τις συνθήκες ζωής και ελευθερίας που αντιστοιχούν στο είδος του. 2. Η διαφοροποίηση αυτών των συνθηκών από τον άνθρωπο έχει σκοπούς κερδοσκοπικούς και είναι αντίθετη προς τη διακήρυξη.

Άρθρο 6
1. Κάθε ζώο που αποτελεί σύντροφο του ανθρώπου έχει δικαίωμα διάρκειας ζωής ανάλογης με τη φυσική του μακροβιότητα.
2. Η εγκατάλειψη ενός ζώου θεωρείται πράξη απάνθρωπη και εξευτελιστική.

Άρθρο 7
Αναφορικά με τα ζώα που προσφέρουν τις υπηρεσίες τους στον άνθρωπο, η διάρκεια και η ένταση δουλειάς πρέπει να είναι σε λογικά πλαίσια, η διατροφή τους ικανοποιητική και η ανάπαυσή τους υποχρεωτική.

Άρθρο 8
1. Οποιοσδήποτε πειραματισμός πάνω στα ζώα, ιατρικός, επιστημονικός, κλπ. Αντιτίθεται προς τα δικαιώματα των ζώων, εφόσον προκαλεί πόνο σωματικό ή ψυχικό.
2. Πρέπει να επιδιώκεται η αντικατάσταση του πειραματισμού πάνω στα ζώα από άλλες υπάρχουσες τεχνικές.

Άρθρο 9
Τα ζώα που εκτρέφονται για τη διατροφή του ανθρώπου πρέπει να στεγάζονται, να τρέφονται, να μετακινούνται και να θανατώνονται χωρίς πρόκληση πόνου και αγωνίας.

Άρθρο 10
1. Απαγορεύεται η εκμετάλλευση των ζώων για τη διασκέδαση των ανθρώπων. 2. Η έκθεση ζώου και τα θεάματα που χρησιμοποιούν ζώα αποτελούν καταστρατήγηση της αξιοπρέπειας και του σεβασμού προς τη ζωή του ζώου.

Άρθρο 11
Κάθε πράξη που χωρίς λόγο προκαλεί θάνατο ζώου είναι βιοκτονία, είναι έγκλημα απέναντι στη ζωή.

Άρθρο 12
1. Κάθε πράξη που προκαλεί θάνατο μεγάλου αριθμού άγριων ζώων αποτελεί «γενοκτονία», έγκλημα απέναντι στο είδος.
2. Η μόλυνση και οποιαδήποτε καταστροφή του φυσικού μας περιβάλλοντος οδηγούν στη γενοκτονία.

Άρθρο 13
1. Σεβασμός επιβάλλεται ακόμη και στο νεκρό ζώο.
2. Κάθε σκηνή βίας στην τηλεόραση και το σινεμά, με θύματα ζώα πρέπει να απαγορευτεί και μόνο οι σκηνές που έχουν σκοπό να ενημερώσουν για τα δικαιώματα των ζώων οφείλουν να προβάλλονται.

Άρθρο 14
1. Οι οργανισμοί προστασίας και προάσπισης των ζώων πρέπει να αντιπροσωπεύονται από κάθε κυβέρνηση.
2. Τα δικαιώματα του ζώου πρέπει να κατοχυρωθούν απ’ τους νόμους, όπως ακριβώς και τα δικαιώματα του ανθρώπου.

κι όχι απ’ όπου κι όπου, από την Γουοσινγκτώνα, την μεγαλούπολη, κι από blogger αγαπημένη και σπουδαία (είμαι πια εθισμένη στα posts της)!!!

τι να πω, καταρχήν δεν το περίμενα,

κατά δεύτερον η απονομή ήταν συγκινητική, η σαμπάνια γαλλική και το κόκκινο χαλί, ήταν όντως κατακόκκινο!

τώρα για λίγο behind the scenes γιατί ξέρω ότι ψοφάς, να σου πω ότι τα βραβεία παρουσίασε το Δεσποινάριο!

το οποίο εμφανίστηκε με άσπρο Issey Miyake, ειδική παραγγελία για την ξεχωριστή βραδιά.

Καλεσμένοι και βραβευμένοι συνδέθηκαν διαμέσου μηνυμάτων όλο χαρά και συγκίνηση. Έκδηλη ήταν η έκπληξη και η ικανοποίηση σε Βουκουρέστι, Αθήνα και λοιπές μπλογκο-πόλεις, όπου σύσσωμοι δεν έπαψαν να πίνουν και να επαινούν μέχρι την 5η πρωινή.

ψίθυροι στους μπλογκο-κύκλους μιλούν για μία ακόμη απονομή, αυτήν την φορά στην Ρόδο, με οικοδεσπότη τον βραβευμένο Γαβριηλ την Κυριακή 3 Οκτωβρίου 2010.

επειδή όμως το βραβείο είναι σκυτάλη όπως λέει και το γλυκό και γενναιόδωρο Δεσποινάριο, από αυτό εδώ το πόστο θα ήθελα και εγώ με τη σειρά μου να απονείμω 2 βραβεία.

το πρώτο το παραδίδω στη μπλογκο-δασκάλα Ριτς. Οι συστάσεις είναι περιττές.

Με το που διάβασα το μπλογκ της, – πένα αιχμηρή και με τάλαντο από τα λίγα – (με το οποίο προς Θεού, δεν τολμώ ουδεμία σύγκριση) αμέσως έπιασα λάπτοπ στα χέρια κι έπιασα δουλειά.

και το πρώτο το παραδίδω στην αγαπημένη μπλογκο-στυλίστα “Απλή θυγάτηρ της Εύας..όπως όλαι”…. glaykidarling. Γιατί έτσι μου αρέσει. Είναι όπως η Άμστελ.

μου αρέσει το γράψιμο της, λατρεύω τον τρόπο με τον οποίο συνδυάζει απίστευτες φώτο από κορυφαία editorial μόδας και όχι μόνο με ένα λόγο χειμαρρώδη, οργισμένο, γεμάτο χιούμορ και αλήθεια.
