Discussion
edit- Comment: Are there any reliable sources that can confirm such claims? —putnik 23:03, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- Comment media franchise (P8345) would work for the third example. Jean-Fred (talk) 09:30, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Jean-Frédéric
- As long as media franchise (P8345) doesn't mean it's specifically part of that franchise. Or maybe that prop extends to derivative works. Idk. Lectrician1 (talk) 16:42, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Comment I wonder to what extent this could work for video game themes. Typically, The Secret of Monkey Island (Q179247)-pirate (Q10729326). See also the whole of en:Category:Video games by theme for potential values − some of which might work better as main subject (P921). Also, many of our video game theme (Q42907216) are used with genre (P136) at the moment. Jean-Fred (talk) 09:45, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Jean-Frédéric
- Yeah that does get a bit convoluted. I think that the difference between main subject (P921) and "theme" is that main subject (P921) is mostly for works that have the intention of describing something. Themes however can apply to anything and they encompass the entire appearance/goal of a product or place. I'd recommend using this property for video game artistic themes like "pirate", and genre (P136) for types of games and their mechanics like: Sandbox, Real-time strategy (RTS), Shooters (FPS and TPS), Multiplayer online, battle arena (MOBA) etc.
- I know I'm also not really involved with the video games model, however, I'd recommend you use Christianity (Q5043) instead of Christian video game (Q5110393) for genre (P136) or if you decide, "theme". That way, people can easily find all of the things that have Christianity (Q5043) theme/genre without having to also query for Christian video game (Q5110393). - Oppose for just repeating the property name in the description instead of defining what's meant. Properties should be well-defined.ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 12:15, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- there might be something here but this seems to be conflating lots of different kinds of relationships. BrokenSegue (talk) 04:45, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
- I agree @BrokenSegue. Thanks for pointing it out. Withdrawing. Lectrician1 (talk) 02:46, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
