Motivation

Wikidata is growing as a life sciences resource. It has terms for biological concepts at the species level and more general terms (see examples above). Using subclass of (P279) works, but it is a generic property. A more specific subproperty would make Wikidata cleaner and allow targeted queries.

As an example, parent taxon (P171) is a subproperty of subclass of (P279) that fills a similar gap. TiagoLubiana (talk) 18:42, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
