Question
editSorry, I had not noticed this proposal, but is there any point in having a different property for companies and for people, ie, cant we use P:P101 ? --Zolo (talk) 09:26, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- It seems for industry/economic sector of companies. -- Docu at 12:37, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
Non-profits and charities
editShall we use this to indicate that Greenpeace (Q81307)'s purpose/focus is environmentalism (Q2855609)? I am thinking it would be best, rather than create a new property which is essentially the same. Danrok (talk) 21:45, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Value=instance vs class
editIt seems to be too restrictive that require the industry to be an instance-of rather than subclass-of. There is a relatively large number of exceptions, which suggests that it might be better to change this property to allow it being applied with items that are a subclass of Q8148? Josephguillaume (talk) 09:25, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
Adding processes to acceptable subclasses?
edite.g. d:Q10843872 and its daughters like industrial process, manufacturing process etc. ? Retired electrician (talk) 16:08, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
Loosen Subject Type Constraint?
editLast month I opened a Project Chat topic about "Populated places and their industries", with specific examples of what I seek to capture and utilise. This property would seem to be the best placement for such data, were it not constrained to companies rather than places. While corporations are the main modern carrier for economic activity, the constraint seems unnecessary, and preventing capture of economic information in the many towns and villages where individuals or families carry on activities (fishing, weaving, etc.). Should the present constraint persist or be adapted? AllyD (talk) 09:31, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
