Real Health Podcast: Flat tummies, diets and how to lose 5lbs, Karl answers the top listener questions
How do you get a flatter tummy? What does it take to lose 5lbs before your holiday? And how do you stick to a new diet?
In today’s episode, I dive into the tummies, weight loss and diets.
Producer, JJ Clarke, joins me on the show to discuss the most common questions I get asked.
The first listener question JJ put to me was, “How do I get a flatter tummy?” I explained that the type of body type you are dictates how feasible or easy it will be for you to achieve a flatter stomach. The second thing I mentioned is that flat tummies are made in the kitchen. This means eating a better quality of food and increasing your protein intake. The final piece is movement, whatever it is walking, running, swimming, as long as it gets your heart rate up.
The second listener question my producer put to me was, “How do I lose 5 pounds before my next holiday?” I really like this question and the main thing is to give yourself time. 5 pounds is roughly half a stone, so you give yourself between two and five weeks to lose this amount of weight. Then you should start tracking your weight, and for this get a smart scale so you can measure your fat and your muscle not just your weight. The last part of losing five pounds is working movement into your routine. I schedule all my swims and workouts on a Sunday so I don’t have to think about it. It becomes automatic rather than a choice that I wriggle out of if I feel tired after work.
