New calf pneumonia detection technique hailed as a potential game-changer

A lung-scanning procedure that can detect sub-clinical pneumonia in non-symptomatic calves could be game-changing for farmers, a leading vet has said.

Thoracic ultrasound uses the same linear probe that vets typically employ for reproductive ultrasounds to examine calves’ lungs. It is fast and non-invasive.
