The Founder
(2016)

Stolen Vision From A Visionary
This movie can be summed up as a story about.a struggling visionary snake in the grass, or should I say 'snake in the french fries'? Michael Keaton was a fantastic choice for the part of McDonald's 'founder' Ray Kroc. I am reminded of some of his previous film roles by his portrayal of the infamous McDonald's franchise master. Laura Dern plays the supportive wife, who is discarded by Kroc once he reaches his self-centered goals. Not much is made of his last wife and how he stole her from one of his franchise owners. An odd combination, being Kroc was a Republican and his last wife, Joan, was a card carrying NPR supporting democrat. A very good movie that's worth taking the time to watch.

Elvis
(2022)

Excellent Representation On Elvis Presley
I was not very interested in seeing this movie when I first heard about it. Expected another lamé biographical cinematic telling of the story that everyone already knows. But no, this motion picture nails the whole thing, from beginning to end. Austin's portrayal of Elvis Aaron Presley is 'spot on'. He gives an outstanding performance and makes the viewer they are actually watching Elvis. This is the best exposing of Colonel Tom Parker and what a wicked man he really was. Tom Hanks, on the other hand, is not believable as the king of rock's manager. He looks too much like a skinny guy at a costume party dressed like someone's fat uncle. The sets are great and the Elvis magic is brought to life.

Leverage: Redemption
(2021)

Not Same Without Nate Ford
Okay, the reboot is good, but Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton) was a vital part of the original Leverage series. It's sad he was cut based on false accusations that were dropped and proven to be a lie. So, instead of sending Nate Ford off on some special mission or vacation and waiting for the outcome of these accusations, the idiot producers of Leverage:Redemption, just killed his character off. So, except for a Dallas style dream sequence, there will be no return of the Nate Ford character. Fortunately, the rest of the original cast is here and they are all excellent in their respective roles. One exception is the lack of Hardison in more episodes.

Adventures of Superman
(1952)

George Reeves will always be 'SUPERMAN'
George Reeves will always be Superman to me. While the special effects in this classic TV series are quite lame by today's standards, they were ahead of their time in their day. This version of Superman sticks to the 'suit and hat' criminals of the original DC comic books. The Daily Planet staff of actors are completely perfect in their roles. The success of the 1950's 'Superman' TV series revived the comic books and certainly helped pave the way for the 1966 'BATMAN' and 'Green Hornet' programs. Watch this version of Superman with the knowledge of what was 'state of the art' in the 1950's and enjoy!

Spider-Man: Homecoming
(2017)

Okay Storyline. Dark Scenes Too Dark For In Home
First bit of advice is that most of the dark scenes (and there are a lot of them) are very dark on television and difficult to make out. Maybe in a completely dark room they might be more visible. Michael Keaton makes a fantastic villain as he pursues revenge and fights off Spider-Man (Tom Holland). Peter Parker (Spider-Man) tries to fight crimes, while uncertain of how he is attached to and where his place is in The Avengers. He is also kept busy trying to figure out all of the intricacies of his Stark Enterprises provided, Spider-Man suit. Robert Downy Jr. Pops in, now and then, as Iron Man and Tony Stark.

Burn Notice
(2007)

First 3 Seasons Are Awesome
I was really enjoying this series for the first three seasons. Watching these spies in action is so much fun. Lots of action and drama. The relationship between Fiona and Michael is a very intriguing one. Michael's creative ways of going after the villains and helping his clients is an added plus. Season four and the introduction of Jesse was where I started to lose interest. Not sure what it was about this character, but he irritated me. I didn't accept him as part of the team. Mike (Jeremy Donavon), Sam (Bruce Campbell), Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) and Madeline (Sharon Gless) are much more interesting and enjoyable.

Daydream Believers: The Monkees' Story
(2000)

Decent Monkees Tribute
For those who loved and still love watching the TV series, The Monkees, this is a decent look back at what 'made' and what 'destroyed' the Emmy winning TV series in just two short seasons. The biggest thing that I learned from this trip back in time is what an amazing thing it is for bands like The Rolling Stones and The Moody Blues to remain together for not only years, but decades! So many different personalities, attitudes, ideals and dreams to work with. A third season would most likely have been their last, but unfortunately that was not to be. If only the four 'mop tops' had grabbed ahold of what was dropped in their laps. There have been a few short reunions over the years, but 'That Was Then, This Is Now' in the 1980's was the only big success. Enjoy what is left, Mickey Dolenz is the only living 'Monkee' as of the date of this review.

The Lost City
(2022)

Annoying Movie
If Sandra Bullock movies were a TV series, this would be the 'jumped the shark' episode. It's typical Bullock ditzy character in the jungle. Sat through it just to get to the end. She's almost 60 years old and she's still playing these 20-30Something silly girl roles.

Cry Macho
(2021)

Heartwarming and Touching Film
I'm not sure why some of the negative reviews. If you were expecting Dirty Harry, The Man With No Name, Rowdy Yates or Philo Beddoe, then this isn't for you. If you were expecting Clint Eastwood, then you won't be disappointed.

This is a story about friendship, trust and love. Clint has his humorous moments, his tough moments and his touching moments. While the reason for some things in the movie are a bit foggy, it still works. At 91 years of age, the hero of my youth still has it going on.

After the Attack
(2008)

Wow, I'll Never Get That Time Back
How this could rate more than one star is beyond me. I sat through one episode (painfully) and still not sure what I was seeing. It was like AFV meets Wild Kingdom, produced by four-year-old's. Painful. Just painful.

Tales of Wells Fargo
(1957)

First Five Seasons Are Great
Watching the first five b&w, 30 minute episodes was pure classic TV Western fun. Dale Robertson is Wells Fargo's special agent, Jim Hardy. Things go south in season 6 when the show expands to 60 minutes and color. Extra regular cast members are added, including William Demarest, Uncle Charlie from My Three Sons and a sidekick named, Bo. Not sure why the changes, but the series became silly and pointless. If The Big Valley had not come out a few years later, I would think they were trying to imitate that show.

The Fugitive
(2020)

Disappointing Remake
I'm not a fan of most retreads and this takes the cake. A 30-minute episode, instead of 60-minutes, I can accept. But an 8-minute episode? No thanks.

There Was a Crooked Man...
(1970)

Music Doesn't Suit The Story
Great cast of actors. The violent ending doesn't really render itself to the soundtrack that sounds like it came from a Don Knotts/Tim Conway movie. A good movie. Predictable. The soundtrack is just bewildering, black comedy, western , drama or whatever it is trying to be.

Audacity
(2015)

The Truth Cannot Be Denied
Sadly, there are so many people out there who just make it their mission in life to review Christian movies for the sole purpose of giving them a bad rating. That is the obvious case for this film. Chances are that most of them haven't even watched the movie or most of it. It would be nice if these people could find something more constructive to do. This film accomplishes was it sets out to do and that is to present the facts from the Bible on God's view of homosexuality and other sin. Anyone who is unsure or sitting on the fence will want to take a look at this film. As the promotion says, "you will gain fresh insights and perspective, regardless of your views on gay marriage and homosexuality. You will also see what it's like to stand for something, no matter how many people try to shut you down or come after you. Don't let the naysayers keep you away. They are just here to try and drag this movies numbers down. It's a sad fact.

The Silent Partner
(1978)

The Silent Partner - Ahead of It's Time
I remember when this movie came to the theaters back in 1979. I could never understand why it did not perform very well at the box office. It was interesting to see Christopher Plummer in this role as the villain, having only seen him in The Sound of Music prior to. For it's time, I thought that it was a very violent film. From Christopher Plummer cutting a woman's head cut off on a broken fish tank to him picking up hookers to take his anger out on. He is the mall Santa Claus gone WAY bad! Susannah York is delightful in this film and Elliott Gould is excellent as the mild mannered bank teller that turns the tables this really, really bad guy. If you can find this movie on video or DVD it is well worth watching.

Corvette Summer
(1978)

A Fun "B" Movie from the 70's
The thing that still sticks out in my mind most from this movie from 'way back then', was Annie Potts and her framed dollar bill hanging on the wall of her trailer. It was the dollar that Mark Hamill had given her for 'services she was supposed to render' or something like that. I haven't seen the movie since it's original release. I think that it would be fun to see today! Mark Hamill was on his way to Star Wars fame and Annie Potts was on her way to Designing Women. From this movie, who would have known the success that they would have found. Danny Bonaduce had already achieved his fame with "The Partridge Family" when this movie was released. It would be fun to see him in this movie, as well. I believe I saw this as a 'double-feature' at the drive-in with the movie "Lifeguard". That movie starred the 'soon to be famous' Sam Elliott as a lifeguard being hounded on the beach by a young teeny bop-per (Kathleen Quinlan). It also starred Anne Archer.
