Working Man
(2019)

not really about a factory
This movie...it moves so slowly in the begining, and tales its time revealing the characters toyou. It's a character study that starts frorm the outside, and works its way in. You meet this man who just works in a factory, and seems to live a very dreay life. And, as you watcy the film, you get to know this man from his behavior, not what he says. He says so little, but you do get to undertsand him. And, see him develop as a character. The film is about how we CAN and should change, and grow, and how life is really about change and growth. We meet a man who is on the cusp of total loss, and moves to the potential height of having it all back. And, then you see him grow. What a lovely, lovely film. It made me laugh, cry, and think. Has made me really think.

Rent-a-Groom

Endorses manipulation
The grandma is playing the girl/woman so that her daughter gets engaged...in order that her granddaughter will be "happy ". Grandma is "cured".etc., and then the chaos ensues due to all the ubiquitous manipulations. Of course there is a romance, and I'm sure it works out all in the end, it's the nature of these types of movies. It harks of the Hallmark movie style, and I was surprised that it was NOT a Hallmark movie. Anyways, my main objection is that lying gets you where you want to go...and of course life will be happy ever after. How can any of that be a good thing? I could just be jaded...and if I've burst bubbles. My apologies.

Foundation

gratuitous
I've not read the books...but, I cannot, cannot imagine that Asimov had as much gratituous sex as this show has. And, I'm fine with romance...but this not romance, just showing us that "advanced peoples" have sex too. Whoopdie!!! And,...the visuals are good...but, the phiolosophy ahd the storeis...don't seem connected at all. And, the emotional connections of the characters, seem to have no depth at all. I liked the vision, and the diverse characters, but at times it seemed like there were so many, I had trouble keeping up. I may be wrong, frequently am, but these are my humble opinions. Thanks.

Heart of Champions

from a non-rower
I confess to knowing nothing about rowing...truly, I know nothing. But the idea that we are not an island in this life, is one with which I concur. The other thought presented was that actions have sometimes catestrophic consequences, and I agree. In light of those ideas, this movie addresses them admirably. The cinematography of the the water, the rowboat, and the light, was in my eyes, certainly lovely. I found this to be a thought-provoking and exceptional movie. Were there things that I did not particularly admire? Sure, but overall, a good film.

Reacher
(2022)

Very close to the books!
I'm watching this and keep hearing the book reverberate in my head. The actor might be a tad too pretty...I've always imagined Reacher as less eye candy...but, he's a big man, moves like Reacher does in the books...and he doesn't speak much. I'm enjoying it very much...but you have to know Reacher from the books to appreciate this series.

Strangers
(2018)

a view of Hong Kong
The shots/scenery of Hong Kong from the sea-view to the unusual perspectives of apartment high-rises are just two of the reasons this show kept me enthralled. Sure, the main character took risks that I'm not sure the average Joe or Jane would take, but his pursuit of the truth about his wife gave credence to his semi-stupid mistakes. Unlike a previous reviewer, I did not find the pace slow...it seemed driven to me, and I always wanted to see what happened next. I found the show well done and easy to watch.

The Witness for the Prosecution
(2016)

Vastly disappointing
So, I'm not sure what the original Christie version of this is, I'm going to check that out in my local library, however...this was depressing, sad, and just awful. Yes, I think the acting was good (especially Toby Jones), but golly the ending...no justice, vindication, just depression. I've read a lot of Christie, and I never come away with that feeling. I wasted 2 hours of my life on this...and am bummed out!!!

Miss Sloane
(2016)

Intelligent and gripping
I really was not sure what I was going to be watching when this movie started. But, to parody another reviewer, she was a hardcore heroine. The corruption of politics was well highlighted and dreadfully appalling. Jessica Chastain...she just seemed to radiate impressive drive, and her character's ability to play the long game was impressive. It made me think, cheer, and just enjoy the ride.

Diablo
(2015)

atrocious
This is my firs review for IMDb...and I'm only doing it because the movie was so ...atrocious. The scenery was beautiful...that's the only redeeming thing about the movie. I should have really followed the reviews from IMDb...but foolishly wasted 1.5 hours of my time. Wish I hadn't
