Grotesquerie
(2024)

Good actors - bizarre to weird to BAD
I like Niecy Nash and Courtney B Vance and it started out good but just became beyond weird by the "unplugged" episode and I don't know if I will continue as it's really wasting my time. It's like they kept extending the arcs in the show that really make no sense and some of the arcs are not believable. The Priest with his self-multilating behavior and his sexual tension with the nun who went off the rails - just over the top acting and the stabbing scenes with her and Nash in the unplugged episode - REALLY? Just too much as it's just two far fetched. New comer Travis did well but he's better on the football field. Just too weird and vulgar for my taste.

Queens Court
(2023)

So much drama - need to curtail it down
I fell into this as I needed mindless stuff to watch or watch while working as the concept is unique with these three "stars". This is NOT A NORMAL environment - like the Bachelor or Survivor - when these folks ARE not being in their normal lives. Too much alcohol involved and Nivea seems to have an alcohol dependency.

I love the Peetes which is why I kept watching as Nivea (the sexual spectrum) to Tamara (not happy at all - why there and bravo to shaming Gatsby - good TV) or the intellectual prude who was married 42 days! I applaud for her for getting out of that violent scenario - but really - makes good drama.

A Very Royal Scandal
(2024)

Such a easy fact of truth in that gluttony era
I think the best line in the entire script was what Rita Wilson said about "yes but he still gets to go to Sanderling" and she was unrecognizable and definitely in character of the interviewer! I had only seen her before as a love interest in that one show like in Nantucket, where she had a love affair with the guy that plays Prince Charles in the crown. I did comments on my review of the crown that he was too handsome to play Prince Charles and they should've just aged the previous Charles.

But just a big wow to Prince Andrew and Beatrice and Rita .... So well replicated with costumes and cars as I grew up in the #metoo movement and have many stories myself ( colleagues that were "call girls" to high end rollers and I was involved in many inappropriate behaviors, attitude, and stupid moves from men I worked with .... As that era - it was allowable - so the entire Epstein scheme is believable. Sorry to digress but that was the power on that mini-series. I'm recommending it to everyone. Good job Amazon studios.

Killer Heat
(2024)

Entertaining but not captivating
I saw this and wanted to watch it because of the two main characters, Jon and Shanalee and because of them, I gave it a six because I did find it entertaining however, I fell asleep during half of the movie and woke up just when he's cracking the entire mystery.

The plot line is replicated in many different mystery shows so it was no different other than it was in the beautiful islands of Greece. The views were stunning and the water was superb. The island living idea was also captured well because really I lived on Hawaii for a while and it is a unique experience living on an island.

The ensemble cast was good but I thought it odd that the mother would shoot the only remaining son when she found out that he was the murderer. But then who knows, maybe the one that died was her favorite. I mean, she could still visit him in prison so I just found that very odd.

Costumes were great as was the lighting and special angle shots of that beautiful water.

Matlock
(2024)

Excellent storyline, casts and intrigue
A totally slimmed down Kathy Bates is perfect for this part as is Beau Bridges. The pilot is very intriguing and I like the "play-back" storytelling too which pulls the entire story together. Of course, MM is totally lucky with her first case but the entire charade in order to get the job was clever. The ensemble cast is great - and the twist with the two being married at the firm going through a divorce is a good arc, the writing is clever and not to overpowering. I thoroughly enjoyed this show and it did remind me of the old Matlock so I think this show will be a winner only there is a finish line so the episodes can't get dragged out for years. Great start to a thrilling show.

Head Over Heels
(2024)

Entertaining and predictable
I love shoes so I really enjoyed this movie which had no known actors. The ensemble cast was great but the dad seemed too young for Addi. The anti-hero DD played an excellent hard ass boss but at time she seemed to be overacting. The family dynamic seemed strong but again - dad seemed too young and there was no explanation as to when the mother died.

The storyline was good but predictable and the two "lovebirds" had good chemistry. It seemed unrealistic that the family shop could make a runway show of shoes in 48 hours - but the shoes were the stars.

It was a feel good movie and left me feeling happy and wanting to go buy shoes - so I give it a 7.

Baby Reindeer
(2024)

Disturbing and sad
Whew - hugely disturbing. The whole grooming and drugs was a big reality for women #metoo so to see it from a men's perspective was really disturbing - especially with the violent anal scene that was actually well done with the blackout camera sequence. I can see how all the negative press came out against the Scot that first came out and probably if he was an American, he'd be sued as the characters were well developed and troubled. Martha is as good as Kathy Bates in Misery. The entire ensemble is great and I can see the Emmy's despite the dysfunctional, sick and sad storyline. I wanted to stop watching as it disturbed me so much - but then I had to see how he got out or ended it. This film has to be "dated" as at least in America #metoo handled some of these issues.

The Shadow Dancer
(2005)

A sleeper ....
The acting in this film is stupendous - but then I have always like Harvey Keitel and Claire Florian and what a dynamic duo! Superb! I have never seen a Josh Jackson movie and at first he seemed like a little boy in a big guys suit with the slick hair and he sort of grew on me. He has very interesting gray eyes. The jail scene is artistically perfect. Great script writing. Of course, the scenery is fabulous - such panoramic scenes. Stunning - almost as stunning as Claire's beauty and she too has those grey eyes. The other two daughters are also fascinating.

The entire ensemble is also excellent. The bar scene where they get snockered and throw him in the pond was funny and scary at same time.

Highly recommended.

Aloha
(2015)

Entertaining
This was entertaining and very entwined with many layers of grasping the storyline while no one is talking. The last 10 minutes pulled the entire movie together as it was a bit confusing all the outstanding arcs. Bradley Cooper does well with these romance movies. Billy Murray was great as the corrupt billionaire and the plot line was confusing with him. Baldwin typical casted as General played his part. The triple arc with Rachel, John and Bradley was well crafted. Emma Stone played a good side-piece - but again - it's hard to believe Bradley fell that hard for her that quickly - but the storyline was needed for the triple mess.

The scenery was awesome and in Hawaii - it makes everything worth watching.

The Perfect Couple
(2024)

Entertaining
This was a typical who done it in a rich family on an exclusive island similar to many movies that have come and gone. The cast is great, and the ensemble acting is well done because the scattering of the characters throughout helps pull the other unknown actors up. The cinematography and plot is similar to big little lies or how to get away with murder and so I enjoyed the flashbacks and trying to piece the pieces together. The writing is good because I had to watch all the way to the end because I could not figure out who killed Merritt, as there were so many clues and arcs to the story. The scenery is great as are the costumes and lighting. I have no complaints, but it would not register as a 10 for me as the chemistry between certain characters is forced and arc in storyline beyond believable.

One Perfect Match
(2023)

Very entertaining and uplifting
This movie fell into my que and I thought why not as a "Hollywood Matchmaker" had her own series.

The plot was predictable but the chemistry between the two main characters was great - very convincing. The ensemble cast was great too with the arc of the sister's wedding. It would just happened to be at dreamboat dude's villa estate - again very predictable from her on out.

The male lead is familiar to me but can't remember what shows - he definitely exudes sexiness.

The scenery and set designs are great as probably at an actual vineyard. The costumes were great too with a colorful palette every time, especially in her office.

I'd give this a 10 as it was a feel good movie!

Mother of the Bride
(2024)

Entertaining and predictable
I needed a good cheesey movie and know of folks that are "influencers" that make money off of everything. I was too isolated building my own career to appreciate Brooke Shields but I like Janice (who was on Suits). Brooke grew on me during the movie and she really is a beautiful woman. Em (the School of Rock girl grown up) is perfect as is the groom. I have always enjoyed Benjamin and the chemistry of the two is great.

The scenery is fabulous and Plukett is now on my bucket list - wow - stunning. Lover's Cove -

The storyline is very familiar with the dysfunctionalism at a wedding and how everyone acts and reacts. It was enjoyable and worth an 8.

Reasonable Doubt
(2022)

A bit of overacting and lots of violence
If this is an accurate portrayal of how rich black people talk to each other and treat each other - wow! I had to watch the entire first season to see the consistency of the slang and mis-treatment. Lewis was one redeeming character and brought stability to the show but it was creepy that he kept cameras in the house. More creepy was Jax having sex with the security guard right in front of the cameras.

The "grooming" aspect of Jax with the father and how that played out with Damon who was also grooming her - made for a good storyline but I find it hard he'd wait 16 years? That arc didn't make sense and then to kidnap her and then kill himself in front of her - wow - that is drama - and that was not the main storyline.

Now that season two is about domestic violence - I'm caught up in this again despite the bad acting.

Find Me Falling
(2024)

Entertaining
The Greek ensemble really pulled this movie off as did the scenery. I can't seem to get Harry's sporadic acting out of my critiquing mind. His acting is believable at times - but then it's so bad. He has certainly aged and maybe it's the beard I don't like?

The mother daughter dual is great and along with the grandmother really makes the movie. The daughter has a beautiful voice. The mother reminds me of Bebe Newerith and is stunning.

The storyline is unique and actually quite odd with the suicide aspect - but it is handled well by using the fence as a metaphor too. Sia telling him about Melina through the fence remind me of that scene in I am Sam - very thoughtful -

The ending was perfect.

A Summer to Remember
(2018)

Entertaining and predictable
I love Catherine Bell and wish Hallmark would bring back the Good Witch. So, I love this movie and the guy lead was handsome and reminded me of the guy she played in opposite Good Witch. So I am bias.

The storyline was predictable and was paced well with the various arcs relating to work. The ensemble cast was good. The Fuji family made me want to go visit Fiji. So, the ending of this show was great which was expected. The girl playing the daughter was good although had no resemblance to the dark and straight haired Bell.

The scenery was lovely and I do love Portland so they did nice panoramic shots.

This was a feel good movie and worth watching.

Hidden Gems
(2022)

Cute and entertaining
Magic! Who doesn't love the thought of magic! Especially magic when it comes to romance. The speed of the storyline was well paced - we'll sort of .... He started up as a jackass which considering his "past" which was merely tourism is fleeting - can cause that hard cover - BUT to make her jump off a moving boat!?!

I am unfamiliar with any of the actors so the ensemble was great together. The two many characters did have good chemistry and their attraction seemed believable.

The ring plot was great and the ring was stunning and to have creep-o find it and the $$$ aspect made it really sweet - like wow - that was MAGIC! Doubt it would happen in real life!

Island filming is great - and just wholesome and entertaining movie.

Love's Portrait
(2022)

Lovely original movie
I fell into this movie and am glad I did - and as one of the old man that gave away the painting said "it's truly amazing" and it was. The main characters are perfect and the setting in Ireland perfect. ALL the acting is authentic and touching.

When she finds out that he painted it - seems REALLY REAL so this movie get a 10 for script writing and of course, it's easy to know how it ends. I'm only confused as to how and when the portrait was drawn and then who donated it to the family that donated. The lilly flower as the signature was really creative as SHE figured it out.

The ensemble acting is excellent and the sister is a lovely actress. The art owner with the Dorothy Hamill haircut is great too.

A wonderful, kind movie that I will watch again.

Mr. Malcolm's List
(2022)

Charming and entertaining
I fell into these movie and am really glad I did as it's very charming. The acting ensemble is perfect and the chemistry between Frida and Malcolm is off the charts. Julie is a beautiful actress and perfect for the role of the evil revenge person. The soldier is adorable as well and at the mascaraed ball was great and his and Julia's chemistry also is undeniable. Frida has really grown up since Slum Dog Millionaire and is so sincere in her role of Selena. The cousin also adds value to the story especially when confronting Jeremy. It's a wonderful love story on so many levels. Set designs are great, lighting, costuming - all perfecto!

Moriah's Lighthouse
(2022)

Entertaining and predictable
Very entertaining and endearing but the chemistry between the two main characters was mediocre. The only actor I'm familiar with is the beautiful Mariah (from Twilight) and she IS STUNNING. So I enjoyed the entire ensemble and didn't mind the bad accents or speaking in English when there audience is all French. The return of the boyfriend after 30 years AND the purchaser of the lighthouse house was a great storyline. The ending of course is predictable as this is a Hallmark Movie - but I loved it as the scenery is so beautiful. The entire lighthouse symbolism was fabulous with the light turning on at the end.

I give it a solid nine as it is a feel good movie.

Two Scoops of Italy
(2024)

Charming
I needed a good Hallmark charge and found this one was entertaining and charming too. The two main characters have obvious chemistry and it's very nice to see this handsome Italian representing his country. The making of new flavors gelato as the main theme also brings the charm to the script - but the deadline looms so it's a bit non-realistic as any investor/friend would not make demands and if it was expected than why did Danielle leave? So a bit confusing of the storyline BUT it's very predictable the ending.

The scenery is spectacular with the wide sweeping views almost like it is a fairy tale location. Set designs are quaint and authentic.

Very enjoyable.

IF
(2024)

Entertaining but confusing
Is this story to help the little girl heal from her mom's death? How does Ryan Reynolds fit in and is he the "keeper" of the IFs and then he's gone!?! And then it turns out he was Calvin. I

So as a child I would find this very confusing if I was a child.

The acting is great but it is just four main characters. Ryan Reynolds - want a perfect main character as he's just empathic actor. The cinematography was fabulous of course along with the costuming and puppeteering.

The rejoining of the IFs with each of their "childhood" memory people was very touching but again, if a child a bit confusing. For some of us, my imaginary friends were more complex like Paul McCartney of the Beatles -

Back to Black
(2024)

Entertaining and fascinating tortured soul
Just like Freddy Mercury - I knew nothing of Amy Winehouse other than she died of alcohol poisoning and dressed with that 50's vibe. I was only familiar with the dad through Ray Donovan - so the ensemble was all new to me.

I thought Amy was great and now remember seeing her play at one Grammy show with her rehab song. I felt her angst and she played a great alcoholic. Blake was a perfect cocaine ridden bad boy and Nan was also memorable.

Costuming and cinematography was great - the transitioning from a good Jewish girl into Amy the rock or jazz star was excellent. While I don't know how accurate the storyline was - it flowed together well so I think it's worthy of a 10!

A Family Affair
(2024)

Star power but no chemistry
Nichole and Kathy pulled me through this common themed movie. Unlike the new Anne Hathaway "cougar movie with rock star" - Zak Ephron was not a good match for Kidman. The daughter was showcased really well - but took way too much grief from Zak as her employee. They were constantly yelling and that just added to the inconsistencies of his personality and Kidmans. The Christmas scene was touching as was the makeup scene in the grocery store. Kathy Bates looks great with her weight loss and was great as the mother in law.

Set designs were good as was lighting and costumes. The biggest problem was the chemistry between to main characters - Michael B Jordon or Chris Hemsworth might have been better matches or Harry Styles -

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F
(2024)

Entertaining and typical Eddie Murphy
I always liked Beverly Hills Cop and can't remember all the characters and if they were returning; but this was just as entertaining and fun. The casting of characters was great and I really enjoyed the dialogue between Eddie and Joseph Hewitt as new partners. Kevin Bacon was great as the cop who was dirty as he always plays the tough guy. The daughter was a bit cold and was true to form as the attorney representing the bad guy. Judge Reinhold was great as the keeper of the SD card.

The budget for this must be $$$$ with ALL the property destruction - but it was great cinema stunt driving, especially the police buggy and the helicopter. Set designs were great - but who doesn't love Beverly Hills.

Queenie
(2024)

A good family drama that one can relate too
Once again, I stumbled across this and was intrigued with the Jamaican family lifestyle since one of my favorite movies is "Cool Runnings".

What an entertaining ensemble, especially the Grandma! All the storylines were very interesting and easy to relate too in so many ways both in the workplace and at home.

Queenie is fabulous and I'm glad Frank came into her life at the end and want to see how that develops. Then the relationship with her mother also was an intriguing arc and I can easily relate.

How it ended, it's seems this was a limited series and if so - bravo.

The set designs were interesting and colorful.

It was a good 3 day binge.
