Vikings: Valhalla
(2022)

Really Enjoyed It
Being a huge fan of the original Vikings I was really looking forward to Vikings: Valhalla. Now, even though it's not as quite as good as the original it's still a really good show that absolutely holds up as it's own great series (as long as you don't compare it to the original). It takes place 100 years after the original show and makes references to all the great characters from that show like Ragnar, Bjorn, Lagertha, Rollo, Ivar, etc. It also mainly takes place in Kattegat, which was home to all those great characters. The new heroes in this show (Leif, Harold, Freydis, etc) are all really easy to root for and do a incredible job pulling you into the show. After finishing season 3 (the last season) I can say I've been thoroughly entertained throughout the entire series and I'm so glad they were able to give it a proper ending instead of of a cliffhanger.

The Umbrella Academy
(2019)

Terrific...except for this last season
The Umbrella Academy is such an incredible show that really should be entertaining to all types of different people! I would absolutely recommend it to any superhero fan, action fan, sci-fi fan or drama fan because it has something for fans of all those genres! It may start a little slow for some while it builds up the story and characters, but it gets better and better as the story progresses. The first 3 seasons were all amazing, I can say there's very little drop in quality in those seasons but this last season feels rushed (even though they had 2yrs to get it done)! I may be a little biased because I'm such a huge fan of superhero movies/shows and while I have to say The Umbrella Academy isn't my absolute favorite one, it's still really good and very entertaining! It really brings a fresh take to the genre and has something that everyone can enjoy.

Bad Monkey
(2024)

It's a fun show
Apple TV+ has been in fire with all the great tv series they've put out the last few years and Bad Monkey is another home run for them. It stars Vince Vaughn as a former police detective who is now a restaurant inspector, what follows is an action comedy that is as entertaining as you'd think it'd be with Vaughn doing what he does best. It also stars Michelle Monaghan, Natalie Martinez, Meredith Hagner, John Ortiz, among others who all play oddball characters that make this show what it is. This is just a fun, light hearted comedy that's an easy watch to just turn your brain off and have good time watching it.

The Book of Boba Fett
(2021)

Good Enough
I actually liked The Book of Boba Fett more than I expected to. After reading all the mixed reviews I didn't think it would be that good but I'm definitely on the side that think it's worth watching! The only thing wrong with it is the casting could be better. Temeura Morrison (Boba Fett) and Ming-Wa Wen (Fennec) both look out of place, you get used to it after a while but they should of chose better actors. They're just not that believable as bad asses when they fight, both being 60+ years old doesn't help. I still liked the story though and wouldn't mind seeing another season. If you're a Star Wars fan or even just a sci-fi fan then you should give this a try.

Dexter: New Blood
(2021)

I missed Dexter so much but the ending was awful
I missed Dexter so much and was so excited to hear that it was getting revived for this series. Dexter is easily one of my favorite shows of all-time and one of the few shows I can watch all the way through several times over without getting bored. Dexter: New Blood is actually a pretty good show right up until the ending. The ending to the original was pretty bad but this ending is actually worse. I'm not one of those people who thinks a bad ending ruins the whole series for me, as long as the series was good overall then I don't downgrade the entire series because of one bad show. But if there's any exception to that it's this show. The ending really is that bad. I'd still recommend this to any Dexter fans just to see Michael C. Hall back as Dexter. That's worth watching alone and again, the show itself is pretty good. Just be prepared to be disappointed at the ending.

Watchmen
(2019)

Entertaining
I absolutely loved Watchmen! It's a thrilling dramatic series that will absolutely keep you entertained throughout the series with its powerful storytelling! It's just a shame that they're only limiting it to one season. I know it was only suppose to be a one season limited show to begin with but you would think with how good the ratings were, how good all the reviews were, and all the awards it's won they would've tried for a 2nd season anyway. I mean this show broke records for how many award nominations it got including 26 Emmy nominations (it won huge awards such as Best Limited Series, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Writing, etc., etc.). Oh well, we were lucky to have such an incredible show even if just for the one season.

The Continental
(2023)

Entertaining
Being a John Wick fan I've been looking forward to The Continental ever since I first heard about it. Then after seeing the trailers my excitement grew even more. After watching the first few episodes I can absolutely say that The Continental has not only met my expectations but has exceeded them in every way. It's as fast paced and entertaining as the John Wick movies. Even though you'd probably enjoy this more if you've seen the John Wick movies, you don't have to have seen them to like this. The action scenes are as good as anything I've seen on tv. I can't stop watching this and know it's a limited series but I really hope they plan on doing several seasons of this because I'm hooked.

Good Omens
(2019)

Tennant and Sheen are why this show is so good
I just now finally got around to watching Good Omens and have to say I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. First of all it stars three fantastic actors in David Tennant, Michael Sheen and Jon Hamm. What can be said about those three that haven't already? They're all incredible actors and the chemistry between Tennant and Sheen is some of the best I've seen on tv this year. It's about an unlikely friendship from an Angel named Aziraphale (Sheen) and a demon named Crowley (Tennant) as they team up to stop Armageddon. This show is clever in the way it makes you think about what is right and wrong and the sometimes fine like between them. For a show about the end of times, it sure does make you laugh.

Succession
(2018)

Brilliant
I actually enjoyed Succession but it's definitely a show that's not for everyone. The majority of the people I know end up loving up but there are those who don't like it too. You'll have to judge for yourself. What can you say about it that hasn't already been said? First off this show has won the Emmy for Best Drama every season it's been on and literally every major character has been nominated or won an Emmy for their work on this show. It's also one of the highest rated shows here so it's not only a hit with the critics but the fans love it too. Bottom line is this is one of the best shows ever created. It's one of the rare shows where every season is just as good as the others. There's no let down or weak season. This show is not for everyone though. If you are looking for action and a fast paced show then this isn't for you. What makes this series so special is the writing and acting. It will suck you into their world and won't let go. I can't recommend this show enough but again not everyone has is going to like it.

Interview with the Vampire
(2022)

Awesome
I actually enjoyed Interview with the Vampire even more than I thought I would. I liked the movie so I thought this would be a little bit of a disappointment but it wasn't. Far from it. This one actually takes place in our current year. Vampire Louie de Pointe du Lac is currently living in Dubai and is telling his life story to a journalist. The story starts in New Orleans in the 20th century and shows how he met the vampire Lestat du Lioncourt and how they started their family with the two of them and teen vampire Claudia. It's much like the movie where the story follows Louie telling his side of the story to the journalist. It's also different in many ways to the movie, not bad just different. I've actually come to like it even more than the movie.

Those About to Die
(2024)

Starts slow but gets better
Those About to Die started a little slow but got better with each episode. I just found out about this show just a few days ago. I can't believe Peacock didn't promote this more considering how much it cost to make. Peacock never promotes any of their original shows very well but if they were to ever do it this is the one. I need to start off by saying that I love this genre so I may be a little biased, shows like Spartacus, Rome, Game of Thrones, etc and movies like Gladiator, Troy, etc are among my favorite shows/movies of all-time. While this isn't close to as good as those shows I just mentioned it's still worth watching if you're a fan of this genre. It's not exactly historically accurate but who cares, just enjoy it for the entertaining show it is. When an episode ended I couldn't wait for the next one and that's exactly what you want from a show.

Jack Ryan
(2018)

John Krasinski was terrific as Jack Ryan
Jack Ryan is an action packed thriller that will keep you entertained throughout the entire series and wanting more! John Krasinski has become such an amazing actor and is GREAT (as usual) as Jack Ryan! There have been a few actors that have already portrayed Jack Ryan and I have to say Krasinski is earth best so far. He really is such an underrated actor. Most people think of him as Jim from The Office but he's done so much more since then from action, drama, comedy, etc.! Even though some seasons were a little stronger than others, they're all definitely worth watching. I have really enjoyed the entire series and going to miss it now that it's gone.

Family Guy
(1999)

Hilarious
Family Guy is absolutely, without a doubt, one of the best comedies I've ever seen! It's been on the air for almost 20 years now and it's still just as funny today as it was when it first started, more so in some cases. This is an animated show that's definitely made for adults as some of the humor may not be for children. I would recommend watching the dvd's or steaming it instead of watching it on network tv because you get to hear all swear words and cut out scenes that were too much for network tv. There are just so many great characters on Family Guy that I can't even begin to name them all. This is one of the comedies where you can watch the reruns as many times as you want and it's still hilarious.

Avatar: The Last Airbender
(2024)

Never seen the animated series so I had no expectations
Avatar: The Last Airbender is based off the animated series of the same name. It takes place in a world that is divided into 4 different nations, each nation is made up of an element (Fire, Water, Air and Earth). The Avatar is the only one who can master all 4 elements and the one who brings balance between all the nations until one day the Fire Nation decides to invade. The Avatar is the only one who can stop them but he suddenly disappears. A hundred years later a new Avatar named, Aang, emerges. With some help from friends he must master the elements to bring peace and balance back to the world. I have to admit that I've never seen the animated series or movie so I went into this with no expectations or prior knowledge of the series. I've read good things and the trailer looked good so I gave it a shot. I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed it. I thought it was going to be more aimed to younger audiences but it's enjoyable for everyone.

Gen V
(2023)

Solid Spin-off
As a big fan of The Boys I've been looking forward to Gen V ever since I first heard about it. Then after seeing the trailers my excitement grew even more. After finishing the first season I can absolutely say that without a doubt Gen V has not only met my expectations but has exceeded them in every way. It's as fast paced and entertaining as the The Boys series. Even though you'd probably enjoy this more if you've seen the The Boys, you don't have to have seen them to like this. The action scenes are as good as anything I've seen on tv, as exciting and as ridiculous as they are in The Boys. This spin-off actually connects to the original in major ways. You need to watch this so you can follow the story better in the newest season of The Boys. I can't stop watching this and really hope they plan on doing several seasons of this because I'm hooked.

The Acolyte
(2024)

Should've been better
I just finished watching The Acolyte and the first word that comes to mind is disappointing. I was really hoping for better. I'm a Star Wars fan so I was really looking forward to this. I do admit that the visuals here are incredible. The acting wasn't horrible either, it's the writing that's bad which seems like the ongoing issue with these Star Wars shows, except for The Mandalorian which was great. When the writing is this bad then it doesn't matter who the actors are or how good the show looks because it's still a bad show. Hopefully this will get better if they do another season but I'm not counting on it.

Shôgun
(2024)

Worth a watch but could've been better
Shogun is everything I hoped it would be and more. I've been looking forward to this ever since I first heard about it. I thought my expectations were going to be too much and it'd be somewhat of a let down but it wasn't. It was everything I'd hoped it would be and more. I love this kind of genre. This premise kind of looked like The Last Samurai movie with Tom Cruise and I loved that movie as well. The story is told from the perspective of a British hero named John Blackthorne as he helps Lord Torango in his war. This series just pulls you into their world and doesn't let go and you don't want it to. It's gotten nothing but great reviews and currently has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was also just rightfully nominated for a bunch of Emmy's including Best Drama, Best Actor (Hiroyuki Sanada), Best Actress (Anna Sawai), Best Supporting Actor (Takehiro Hira & Tadanobu Asano) & Outstanding Guest Actor (Néstor Carbonell). I've literally enjoyed every second of this and can't wait for the seasons 2 and 3!

House of the Dragon
(2022)

Not as good as I had hoped for
I loved Game of Thrones but wasn't really sure what to expect when I first heard about this but the trailers looked pretty good so I gave it a chance. Then after reading the critics reviews and listening to all hype that was surrounding the show I was expecting this to be the next great series. It's not. I should have known since the reviews are so mixed but people were hyping it up for months and again the trailers were pretty good. I'm a few episodes into season 2 right now and it's going to be a struggle to finish the rest of the season. It definitely hasn't been nearly as good as I thought it would be and judging by the mixed reviews I'm guessing the rest of the season will be much of the same.

Dead Boy Detectives
(2024)

What a fun show
I knew absolutely nothing about Dead Boy Detectives going into it except for the fact the it takes place in the same universe as The Sandman. While I enjoyed The Sandman this looked like a show more aimed at teenagers. I was wrong. The reason I gave in and finally have it a chance is because of the overwhelming positive reviews it's gotten. I really enjoyed this and binged all 8 episodes over the course of 2 days. It kind of has the feel of Supernatural, obviously it's not even close to as good as Supernatural, it just has that feel and humor. I went from probably not going to watch it to hoping it gets renewed for several more seasons pretty quick. I promise you'll have a fun watching this supernatural detective series.

Peaky Blinders
(2013)

Brilliant
Peaky Blinders is not only one of the most underrated TV shows of all-time but it's also one of the greatest shows of all-time. It's even better than all of the hype and love it gets as more and more people are watching it and loving it. It's quickly becoming one of the better shows ever created. If you want to see how loved this show really is all you have to do is read through some of the reviews or look at the ratings. It's one of the rare shows where every season is just as great as the others. I just read they plan on doing a movie to end the show and I can't wait! If you haven't seen this amazing show yet then do yourself a favor and go watch it immediately.

Gangs of London
(2020)

Awesome
Gangs of London is just a flat out awesome show. I do agree with most of the reviews that season 1 was better than 2. Even though season 2 is still worth watching, it just doesn't measure up to the greatness which was season 1. Some people don't like it because of how brutal it gets but I don't get what they were expecting from a show about gangs? It is so much more than just some action show too...it's a very intense drama that will keep you at the edge of your seat. Some people want to compare it to Peaky Blinders and while it's not quite as good as that it's still a really good show. I think because both are violent British crime dramas they get compared a lot. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good action drama.

Fallout
(2024)

Better Than Expected
Fallout is even better than I expected. It's up there as one of the best video game adaptations ever. Fallout takes pace a couple hundred years after a nuclear apocalypse and people have to live in underground bunkers to protect themselves. There is a world going on above full of radiation that's created mutants and a lawless society full of evil people and violence. All the people living in these underground communities are forced to come up and live. Ella Purcell stars as Lucy, one of the people who's never been above ground before and wasn't prepared for the lawless society it has become. One of the most underrated actors ever in Walton Goggins steals the show once again as a mutant bandit. This series is just flat out awesome.

Criminal Minds
(2005)

Still going strong
Criminal Minds is about an elite squad of FBI profilers that investigate the country's most twisted cases and killers. They try to analyze how to get a step ahead of these killers to catch them before they kill more. This series was so good that it went 15 seasons. After only a short time after they ended the show they brought it back on Paramount Plus because so many people missed it. They're now on Season 17 and these last two seasons on Paramount Plus haven't missed a beat. They're actually allowed to get away with more because they don't have to worry about network tv restrictions such as language or being too violent. The characters are all very well written and developed throughout the show. The writers have also done a good job at keeping the show fresh and that's not an easy job after 17 seasons. It's already been renewed for Season 18 and I'll be there as long as they keep it going.

3 Body Problem
(2024)

Hooked me from the start
3 Body Problem is here and it did not disappoint. First of all I've never read any of the books so I have nothing to compare it to or be disappointed about. It looks like most people do like it but there are those who won't because it's not exactly like the book but it's hard to adapt a good book to a show or movie. As long as it's still entertaining then who cares? Just take it for what it is and that's a really good sci-fi series. They've been talking about and hyping this show up for years now. The creators of Game of Thrones (David Benioff and D. B. Weiss) are the creators of this show and that brings a lot of expectations with it. I'm glad they released it on Netflix so we get all the episodes at one time because I couldn't stop watching. I'm glad they already renewed for two more seasons so they can finish the story because everyone knows there's nothing more frustrating than a show getting cancelled before they conclude the story. They now know they have 2 more full seasons to finish it. Can't wait!

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters
(2023)

Worth Watching
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is every bit as good as I was hoping for. It takes place after the Godzilla movie that became out a few years ago. Monarch is the agency that researches and tracks other titan monsters such as Godzilla. The series follows several of those Monarch agents. It covers when monarch was originally formed in the 1950's and also after the last Godzilla movie in the 2010's. A-list actor Kurt Russell plays a monarch agent in tr my oday's world and his real life son Wyatt Russell plays a younger version of his character in the 1950's. Both Russell's are terrific. In fact, the entire cast is great. This series does exactly what it set out to do and that is expand this monster universe and make people excited for what comes next. I hope they do several seasons of this.
