Not great, not terrible The story is inspired by the romanian story written by Ion Creanga. While I understand that they were trying to give it a newer adaptation ( eg. The wolf is a sociopatic neighbor), the movie falls short in many aspects.
As many have said before, the neighbor has no reason to murder the children. You could argue that he wanted to marry the widow, but even then, the movie doesn't really focus on that topic, so it doesn't give the viewer a good backstory of their dynamic.
Maia Morgenstern carried the entire movie on her back. Marius Bodochi was just...awful.
The cinematography is really good though, and the shots give you a pretty eerie feeling.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend the movie, but I enjoyed the nostalgic feeling I had while watching it, remembering the details of the original story and how my grandma would read it to me.
