History of Evil
(2024)

Not the worst movie to watch if you literally don't have anything better to do
I have to preface this by saying I'm not the biggest horror movie fan. However, I really wanted to give this one a shot. While the atmosphere is quite intense throughout the movie and the plot moves reasonably fast, there were some big flaws with the characters.

The couple has barely any chemistry even in the beginning of the movie and the mother seems quite uninterested in her daughter. Therefore, it's really hard to be invested in their story, feel sorry for them or root for any of them.

The movie had potential, but it was executed quite poorly. Even so, it's not the worst movie out there and if you really just want to watch something I say you can give it a try.

Capra cu trei iezi
(2022)

Not great, not terrible
The story is inspired by the romanian story written by Ion Creanga. While I understand that they were trying to give it a newer adaptation ( eg. The wolf is a sociopatic neighbor), the movie falls short in many aspects.

As many have said before, the neighbor has no reason to murder the children. You could argue that he wanted to marry the widow, but even then, the movie doesn't really focus on that topic, so it doesn't give the viewer a good backstory of their dynamic.

Maia Morgenstern carried the entire movie on her back. Marius Bodochi was just...awful.

The cinematography is really good though, and the shots give you a pretty eerie feeling.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend the movie, but I enjoyed the nostalgic feeling I had while watching it, remembering the details of the original story and how my grandma would read it to me.

The Joys and Sorrows of Young Yuguo
(2022)

Deserves a watch
The Joys and Sorrows of Young Yugou is a beautiful but tragic story of a young man trying to find his way through life.

Through this journey Yugou discovers the beauty in Romanian culture but also finds his identity.

This mini-documentary will make you go through all types of emotions: disbelief, joy, excitement and incredible sadness. It's definitely worth watching and sharing it with other people.

An incredible young man who caught everyone's heart. His passion and determination are incredibly inspiring. Thank you Yugou for sharing your story and for teaching me to appreciate my culture more.
