Fly Me to the Moon
(2024)

A unique romcom.
Fly Me to the Moon tells the story of marketing executive Kelly Jones(Scarlett Johansson) & NASA mission launch director Cole Davis(Channing Tatum). Kelly causes chaos & makes it even more difficult for Cole to oversee America's moon landing. When the White House says the mission is too important to fail, the pressure is on!

Fly Me to the Moon is an excellent film. Director Greg Berlanti has given us a movie that is extremely funny, has emotional moments & is a worthy addition to the expansive romcom genre. The fact that the film takes place around one of the most significant events in American history, sets it apart from several romcoms of the past, the most recent one being Anyone But You(2023). Scarlett Johansson is awe-inspiring as Kelly Jones. Channing Tatum is spectacular as Cole Davis. Johansson & Tatum share adorable chemistry, in all their scenes together. Woody Harrelson is phenomenal as Moe Berkus. Ray Romano is brilliant as Henry Smalls. Jim Rash, Anna Garcia, Donald Elise Watkins, Noah Robbins & Christian Clemenson are superb as Lance Vespertine, Ruby Martin, Stu Bryce, Don Harper & Walter, respectively. The supporting cast is great. Fly Me to the Moon is a must watch, especially for romcom fans & fans of Scarlett Johansson & Channing Tatum. Go for it & you'll definitely feel over the moon with joy!

Longlegs
(2024)

Could have been flawless.
Longlegs tells the story of FBI agent Lee Harker(Maika Monroe). When she's pursuing a serial killer named Longlegs(Nicolas Cage), Lee discovers many clues with links to the supernatural. Now, Lee must do everything in her power to stop Longlegs' nightmarish killing spree.

Longlegs is a brilliant film. Writer-director Oz Perkins has given us a movie that's thrilling, suspenseful & will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. One massive flaw is that, during the big reveal, the film relies on cliched horror movie tropes. Apart from that, there are several aspects of the film that are completely unique & not seen in any other movie in the horror/thriller genre. The cinematography by Andres Arochi expertly maintains the eerie atmosphere. Maika Monroe is spectacular as Agent Lee Harker. Monroe carries the film on her shoulders, with her unforgettable performance. Nicolas Cage is great as Longlegs. However, Cage could have toned down his usual over the top acting, which he has brought to several performances in the past. This would have made his titular character, way more terrifying. I know very well that Nicolas Cage is capable of giving a restrained performance, too. Blair Underwood is phenomenal as Agent Carter. Alicia Witt is awe-inspiring as Ruth Harker. The supporting cast is fantastic. Longlegs is a must watch for horror/thriller fans. Just lower your expectations a tiny bit & you'll thoroughly enjoy yourself!

Despicable Me 4
(2024)

They should have ended this franchise with Despicable Me 3(2017).
Despicable Me 4 continues with the adventures of Gru(Steve Carell), Lucy(Kristen Wiig) & their daughters, Margo(Miranda Cosgrove), Edith(Dana Gaier) & Agnes(Madison Polan). Gru welcomes a son into the family named Gru Jr, who is keen on troubling his dad. Gru must face off against a new foe named Maxime Le Mal(Will Ferrell) & his girlfriend Valentina(Sofia Vergara), which forces the family to go into hiding.

Despicable Me 4 is a good film. Director Chris Renaud has given us a movie that definitely expands the Despicable Me franchise but, loses some of what made it great in the first place. While this film is better than Minions(2015), Despicable Me 2(2013), Despicable Me 3(2017) & Minions: The Rise of Gru(2022) surpass it, with Despicable Me(2010) still being the superlative movie of the franchise. The biggest drawback of this film is that, Margo, Edith & Agnes barely have any screen time. Since the very beginning, Gru's relationship with his adoptive daughters namely, Margo, Edith & Agnes has always been the best part of this franchise. To watch that take a backseat this time around, is very disheartening. Gru's dynamic with Gru Jr, is a delight to watch. The Minions' antics are funny but, at times they get tiresome. The animation is fantastic. The 3D is duck-worthy. The vocal performances are the highlight of the movie. Steve Carell is spectacular as Gru. Kristen Wiig is outstanding as Lucy. Pierre Coffin is hysterical as the voice of the Minions. Joey King is brilliant as Poppy Prescott. Will Ferrell is amazing as Maxime. Sofia Vergara is excellent as Valentina. Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier & Madison Polan are awesome as Margo, Edith & Agnes, respectively. The supporting cast is perfect. Despicable Me 4 is worth a watch for fans of the Despicable Me franchise, ideally on the big screen. However, just watch it with super low expectations & you'll definitely enjoy it more.

A Quiet Place: Day One
(2024)

Justifies its existence within the Quiet Place franchise.
A Quiet Place: Day One is set before the events of A Quiet Place(2018) & A Quiet Place Part II(2020). Sam(Lupita Nyong'o) finds herself stranded in New York City, on the first day of an invasion by monsters of alien origin, who happen to have extremely sensitive hearing abilities.

A Quiet Place: Day One is a superb film. Director Michael Sarnoski has seamlessly taken over directorial duties, from franchise mainstay John Krasinski. The only drawback of this movie is, it's not as thrilling & doesn't leave you on the edge of your seat as masterfully as A Quiet Place(2018) & A Quiet Place Part II(2020) does. Still, there are some fantastic set pieces that are heart-pounding. Lupita Nyong'o is phenomenal as Samira. Nyong'o keeps going from strength to strength as an actor & can consider herself a modern day scream queen, after this film & her unforgettable performance in Us(2019). Joseph Quinn is spectacular as Eric. Alex Wolff is awesome as Reuben. Djimon Hounsou is excellent as Henri. Schnitzel & Nico are adorable as the pet cat Frodo. The supporting cast is amazing. A Quiet Place: Day One is a must watch for fans of A Quiet Place(2018) & A Quiet Place Part II(2020), especially on the big screen. Can't wait for the next chapter in the Quiet Place franchise!

The Bikeriders
(2023)

Didn't match my expectations.
The Bikeriders tells the story of Benny(Austin Butler) & Kathy(Jodie Comer). When they first meet, strong-willed Kathy is attracted to Benny, who is part of the Midwestern motorcycle club, the Vandals. When the club takes a dark turn into a world of violence, Benny must choose between Kathy or being loyal to the Vandals.

The Bikeriders is an above average film. Director Jeff Nichols has given us a movie that is an accurate depiction of motorcycle culture in America. However, the film is super dragging & is marred by inane dialogues that don't really have any significance on the overall plot of the movie. At several different points in the film, you're left wondering why certain dialogues & scenes were included in the first place. The performances are the best part of the movie. Jodie Comer is spectacular as Kathy. Austin Butler is superb as Benny. Tom Hardy is fantastic as Johnny. The supporting cast is effective. The Bikeriders is not worth a watch. However, watch it if you're a fan of Jodie Comer, Austin Butler & Tom Hardy.

The Watchers
(2024)

Had the potential to be so much better.
The Watchers is based on the novel of the same name, by AM Shine. A young artist named Mina(Dakota Fanning), gets lost in a massive forest in western Ireland. When she finds shelter, she gets stranded with three strangers namely, Ciara(Georgina Campbell), Madeline(Olwen Fouere) & Daniel(Oliver Finnegan). Mina, Ciara, Madeline & Oliver are stalked by scary & dangerous creatures, every night.

The Watchers is a great film. Writer-director Ishana Night Shyamalan has given us a movie that's creepy & maintains the eerie atmosphere throughout. However, every single scene is spoon-fed to the audience with too many unnecessary dialogues explaining every little action onscreen. This really cuts down the tension in each scene & sometimes, can be unintentionally funny. My expectations were quite high because though this is Ishana Night Shyamalan's feature directorial debut, she's written & directed many fantastic episodes of Apple TV's horror/thriller series, Servant(2019-2023). Dakota Fanning is brilliant as Mina. Georgina Campbell is amazing as Ciara. Olwen Fouere is fantastic as Madeline. Oliver Finnegan is subpar as Daniel. The supporting cast is excellent. The Watchers is not a must watch. Nevertheless, it's worth a watch for fans of Dakota Fanning, Ishana Night Shyamalan & her father, legendary writer-director/producer M. Night Shyamalan. Just lower your expectations & don't expect the film to be very scary.

Inside Out 2
(2024)

Lives up to its iconic predecessor.
Inside Out 2 continues with the adventures of Joy(Amy Poehler), Sadness(Phyllis Smith), Anger(Lewis Black), Fear(Tony Hale) & Disgust(Liza Lapira), the emotions living inside Riley's(Kensington Tallman) head, after the events of Inside Out(2015). Riley goes through puberty & feels new & complicated emotions, while navigating being a teenager. Joy & the rest of the gang contend with maybe being replaced by the new emotions.

Inside Out 2 is a mind-blowing film. Director Kelsey Mann has masterfully taken over directorial duties, from Pixar veteran Pete Docter. The animation is breathtaking. The 3D is eye-popping. The comedic set pieces will make you laugh heartily. There are several emotional scenes, that will either move you to tears or make you shed a tear or two. The vocal performances are the highlight of the movie. Amy Poehler is spectacular as Joy. Maya Hawke is awe-inspiring as Anxiety. Kensington Tallman is perfect as Riley. Liza Lapira is impressive as Disgust. Tony Hale is effective as Fear. Lewis Black is superb as Anger. Phyllis Smith is amazing as Sadness. Ayo Edebiri is fantastic as Envy. Adele Exarchopoulos, Diane Lane, Kyle MacLachlan & Paul Walter Hauser are excellent as Ennui, Mom, Dad & Embarrassment, respectively. The supporting cast is awesome. Inside Out 2 surpassed my sky high expectations & is as epic as Inside Out(2015). The best part about the film, is that it's super relatable for kids, teenagers & adults, too. Watch it on the big screen with your entire family & experience a rollercoaster ride of emotions!

Bad Boys: Ride or Die
(2024)

The best one yet!
Bad Boys: Ride or Die continues with the adventures of Mike Lowrey(Will Smith) & Marcus Burnett(Martin Lawrence). Our beloved Bad Boys return with the classic mix of action & comedy but, there's a catch. This time, Mike & Marcus, two of Miami's finest police officers, are on the run.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is an awe-inspiring film. Returning directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah have given us a movie that is action-packed, hilarious & overall, an out-and-out entertainer. In fact, Bad Boys: Ride or Die is the best in the franchise, surpassing Bad Boys for Life(2020), Bad Boys II(2003) & even the near-perfect Bad Boys(1995). The action set pieces are mind-blowing. The visual effects are flawless. The comedic scenes will make you guffaw raucously. The cinematography by Robrecht Heyvaert is superb & makes you feel like you're a part of the action. Will Smith is spectacular as Mike Lowrey. Martin Lawrence steals the show as Marcus Burnett. Lawrence's no holds barred performance is the highlight of the film. Vanessa Hudgens & Alexander Ludwig are awesome as Kelly & Dorn, respectively. Paola Nunez, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Jacob Scipio, Melanie Liburd, Rhea Seehorn, Joe Pantoliano, Dennis Greene & Quinn Hemphill are fantastic as Rita, McGrath, Lockwood, Armando, Christine, Judy, Captain Howard, Reggie & Callie, respectively. The supporting cast is unforgettable. Bad Boys: Ride or Die is a must watch for fans of the Bad Boys franchise. Watch it on the big screen & have an absolute blast!

The Strangers: Chapter 1
(2024)

The weakest in The Strangers franchise, so far.
The Strangers: Chapter 1 tells the story of Maya(Madelaine Petsch) & her boyfriend Jeff(Ryan Bown). After their car conks out in a mysterious small town, Maya & Jeff are obligated to spend the night in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Terror ensues, as they are targeted by three masked assailants who attack with nothing held back & no motive.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 is a film, that's good enough. However, director Renny Harlin has given us a movie that doesn't match up to its predecessors, namely The Strangers(2008) & The Strangers: Prey at Night(2018). The jump scares are very predictable & the film takes forever to pick up the pace. The creepy atmosphere has been maintained, throughout the runtime of the movie. Madelaine Petsch is awesome as Maya. Ryan Bown is superb as Jeff Morell. The supporting cast is perfect. The Strangers: Chapter 1 is worth a watch for fans of this franchise. Just lower your expectations by a huge margin. Though this film is definitely not a masterpiece by any means, I'm still looking forward to the next two movies in this new trilogy.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
(2024)

Matches up to its iconic predecessor.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is set several years before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road(2015). It tells the origin story of Furiosa(Anya Taylor-Joy) the fierce warrior, many years before she met Max Rockatansky & joined forces with him.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is a mind-blowing film. Director George Miller has given us a worthy continuation of the Mad Max franchise, after the epic Mad Max: Fury Road(2015). The action set pieces are awe-inspiring & look even better in IMAX. The visual effects are perfect. The cinematography by Simon Duggan & the production design by Colin Gibson are phenomenal. The ending was a bit too bizarre, for my liking. Anya Taylor-Joy is spectacular as Furiosa. Taylor-Joy expertly portrays the variety of emotions of this complex character, after taking over the role from Charlize Theron. Chris Hemsworth is fantastic as Dementus. Tom Burke is amazing as Praetorian Jack. Alyla Browne is excellent as Young Furiosa. George Shevtsov, Lachy Hume, Angus Samson, Charlee Fraser, Elsa Pataky, Nathan Jones & Josh Helman are unforgettable as The History Man, Immortan Joe, Organic Mechanic, Mary Jabassa, Vuvalini General, Rictus Erectus & Scrotus, respectively. The supporting cast is impressive. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is a must watch for fans of this franchise. Can't wait for George Miller's next movie as director!

The Garfield Movie
(2024)

The Garfield comics are better.
The Garfield Movie is based on Jim Davis' Garfield comics. Garfield(Chris Pratt) is suddenly reunited after many years, with his father Vic(Samuel L. Jackson). Garfield & Odie are compelled to leave their domesticated lives with Jon(Nicholas Hoult) & join Vic on a dangerous heist.

The Garfield Movie is an awesome film. Director Mark Dindal has given us a movie that is fun & a welcome reintroduction of the iconic orange tabby cat to the big screen. However, Jim Davis' Garfield comics are epic. This film doesn't really capture the essence of Davis' comics & what makes Garfield such an iconic character. Instead, it tries to emulate countless animated movies of the past. This is detrimental to the film. The comedic set pieces are quite funny but, they're mostly aimed at kids. The animation is superb. The vocal performances are on point. Chris Pratt is brilliant as Garfield. Samuel L. Jackson is spectacular as Vic. Hannah Waddingham is fantastic as Jinx. Ving Rhames is perfect as Otto. Nicholas Hoult is excellent as Jon. Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillen, Brett Goldstein & Bowen Yang are outstanding as Marge Malone, Odie, Roland & Nolan, respectively. The supporting cast is effective. The Garfield Movie is worth a watch for fans of the Garfield comics & kids will love it. If you're a die-hard fan of the comics, just lower your expectations & you'll definitely enjoy it more.

IF
(2024)

Fun & heartwarming.
IF tells the story of Bea(Cailey Fleming), a young girl who has gone through a tragic experience. After this incident, Bea starts seeing everyone's imaginary friends, who have been ditched by their human friends who thought them up.

IF is a brilliant film. Writer-director John Krasinski keeps going from strength to strength as a director, by now directing a family movie, after mastering the horror genre with the Quiet Place films. There are several scenes that are emotional & heart-touching. The comedy will make you laugh uproariously. The set pieces are inventive & an absolute joy to watch. The visual effects are amazing. The animation on all the adorable imaginary friends is flawless. The only flaw is, it feels slightly derivative of Pixar movies. Cailey Fleming is spectacular as Bea. Fleming has a long & bright future ahead of her, in Hollywood. Ryan Reynolds is awe-inspiring as Cal. Reynolds' layered performance shows his versatility as an actor, apart from his generally comedic roles. John Krasinski is outstanding as Dad. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is perfect as Blossom. Fiona Shaw is fantastic as Grandmother. Steve Carell is incredible as Blue. Carell shows us his impressive vocal range, after voicing Gru in the Despicable Me films. The supporting cast & all the other actors who voiced various imaginary friends are unforgettable. IF is a must watch with your entire family. Watch it & feel nostalgic about the innocence & magic of childhood.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
(2024)

Justifies its existence after Andy Serkis' epic Planet of the Apes trilogy.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set several years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes(2011), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes(2014) & War for the Planet of the Apes(2017). A long time after Caesar's rule, a young ape named Noa(Owen Teague), goes on a quest that will make him question everything he knows about the history of humans & apes. Soon, Noa will have to make tough decisions, that will define the future of both apes & humans.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is a superb film. Director Wes Ball has ably taken over this iconic franchise, from previous director Matt Reeves. I was definitely skeptical when I heard we were getting another Planet of the Apes movie, after Andy Serkis' trilogy had a perfect conclusion. However, this film has a great story & is the logical next chapter in this franchise. The action set pieces are fantastic. The visual effects are mind-blowing, especially the motion capture technology that seamlessly turns human actors into apes. Owen Teague is spectacular as Noa. Freya Allen is phenomenal as Nova/Mae. Kevin Durand is outstanding as Proximus Caesar. Peter Macon is awesome as Raka. The supporting cast is excellent. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is a must watch for fans of this franchise. I'm actually looking forward to another movie with the same cast, in the long-running Planet of the Apes franchise.

The Fall Guy
(2024)

The perfect summer blockbuster.
The Fall Guy is loosely inspired by the '80s TV show of the same name. Colt Seavers(Ryan Gosling) is a down on his luck stuntman. Colt is tasked with finding Tom Ryder(Aaron Taylor-Johnson), the missing lead actor of his ex-girlfriend Jody's(Emily Blunt) upcoming directorial effort.

The Fall Guy is an awe-inspiring film. Director David Leitch has given us another masterpiece, after Deadpool 2(2018), Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw(2019) & Bullet Train(2022). The script by Drew Pearce is refreshingly original, in today's age of sequels, spin-offs & reboots. The action set pieces are mind-blowing. There are several absolutely hysterical scenes, that will make you laugh until your sides hurt. The twists & turns will make the viewing experience, even more fun & thrilling. The performances are the highlight of the movie. Ryan Gosling is spectacular as Colt Seavers. Emily Blunt is outstanding as Jody Moreno. Gosling & Blunt share electrifying chemistry, in all their scenes together. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is fantastic as Tom Ryder. Hannah Waddingham is brilliant as Gail Meyer. Teresa Palmer is unforgettable as Iggy Starr. Stephanie Hsu is excellent as Alma Milan. Winston Duke is amazing as Dan Tucker. The supporting cast is awesome. The Fall Guy is a must watch. It's a beautiful love letter to stuntmen & stuntwomen, the true unsung heroes of Hollywood.

Kimitachi wa dô ikiru ka
(2023)

Stunning, both in its visuals & story.
The Boy and the Heron tells the story of a strong-willed boy, named Mahito Maki(Luca Padovan). When his mother dies & his father remarries, Mahito chances upon a fantastical world, that is inhabited by both the living and the dead.

The Boy and the Heron is a phenomenal film. Writer-director Hayao Miyazaki has given us a movie that is jaw-droppingly beautiful, has several scenes that will make you guffaw uncontrollably & has several emotional scenes that will leave you teary-eyed. The animation is breathtakingly gorgeous. The vocal performances are a strongpoint of the film. Luca Padovan is brilliant as Mahito Maki. Robert Pattinson is awe-inspiring as The Grey Heron. Gemma Chan is amazing as Natsuko/Hisako. Christian Bale is excellent as Shoichi Maki. Florence Pugh is spectacular as Kiriko. Karen Fukuhara, Mark Hamill, Dave Bautista & Willem Dafoe are outstanding as Lady Himi, Granduncle, The Parakeet King & the Noble Pelican, respectively. The supporting cast is memorable. The Boy and the Heron is a must watch for Hayao Miyazaki fans & everyone else. Miyazaki can do no wrong & this is another unforgettable addition to his legendary filmography.

Challengers
(2024)

There's nothing quite like it & there never will be!
Challengers tells the story of Tashi Duncan(Zendaya). Tashi is a tennis superstar, who becomes a coach & trains her husband Art Donaldson(Mike Faist), to become a bona fide tennis champion. When Art loses many tennis matches, he must play a match with his former best friend & Tashi's ex-boyfriend, Patrick Zweig(Josh O'Connor).

Challengers is a mind-blowing film. Director Luca Guadagnino has given us a movie that is engrossing, sexy, has several layers & is generally very fast-paced. The background score by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross is awe-inspiring & really elevates the film. All the tennis match set pieces are phenomenal. The performances are the highlight of the movie. Zendaya is spectacular as Tashi Donaldson. Zendaya's power-packed portrayal of this complicated character, is commendable. Mike Faist is excellent as Art Donaldson. Josh O'Connor steals the show, as Patrick Zweig. O'Connor steals Zendaya & Faist's thunder, whenever he shares scenes with them. This is no easy feat, considering Zendaya, Faist & O'Connor are all on top of their game. Josh O'Connor effortlessly oozes charisma, as Patrick. The sizzling chemistry & natural camaraderie between Zendaya, Faist & O'Connor's characters, are an absolute delight to watch. The supporting cast is good. Challengers is a must watch for fans of Luca Guadagnino, Zendaya, Josh O'Connor & Mike Faist. A mesmerizing big screen experience.

Civil War
(2024)

A perfect depiction of dystopia.
Civil War tells the story of a war-torn America. A group of army-embedded journalists, namely Lee(Kirsten Dunst), Joel(Wagner Moura), Jessie(Cailee Spaeny) & Sammy(Stephen McKinley Henderson) travel across dystopian America & have to reach Washington DC on time, before rebel forces attack the White House.

Civil War is an incredible film. Writer-director Alex Garland has given us a movie that is thrilling, action-packed, emotional, completely unpredictable & will leave you thinking about it, long after the credits roll. The war set pieces are mind-blowing & become even more immersive in IMAX. You literally feel like you are in the middle of a war zone. There are several scenes that build the tension expertly & will keep the audience on the edge of their seats, almost throughout the runtime of the film. Kirsten Dunst is awe-inspiring as Lee. Dunst flawlessly portrays every single emotion her character goes through, both subtle & not so subtle, phenomenally. Wagner Moura is fantastic as Joel. Cailee Spaeny is spectacular as Jessie. Stephen McKinley Henderson is brilliant as Sammy. Nick Offerman is perfect as the President. The supporting cast is mind-blowing. Civil War is a must watch, for fans of visionary director Alex Garland. Can't wait for Garland's next directorial effort.

One Life
(2023)

A poignant biopic.
One Life tells the true story of Nicholas 'Nicky' Winton(Anthony Hopkins). Young Nicky Winton(Johnny Flynn) was a broker in London for quite a while, before World War II began. During this time, Nicky rescued more than 600 children from Czechoslovakia, which was a Nazi stronghold.

One Life is an awe-inspiring film. Director James Hawes has given us a movie, that perfectly recreates the true events of Nicky Winton's incredible rescue of countless children. There are several heartwarming scenes, that will make you tear up. Anthony Hopkins is mind-blowing as Nicky Winton. Hopkins flawlessly portrays a variety of emotions that his character goes through, with ease & panache. Johnny Flynn is spectacular as Young Nicky Winton. Helena Bonham Carter is phenomenal as Babi Winton. The supporting cast is brilliant. One Life is a must watch, to marvel at the tale of real-life superhero Nicky Winton.

Love Lies Bleeding
(2024)

Tries to do too much.
Love Lies Bleeding tells the story of Lou(Kristen Stewart), who works in a gym. Lou falls in love with Jackie(Katy O'Brian), an aspiring bodybuilder who is passing through town, before competing in a bodybuilding competition in Las Vegas.

Love Lies Bleeding is a good film. Director Rose Glass has given us a movie that is unique, gripping, has plenty of shock value & keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, throughout. However, one major flaw is that it tries to mix too many genres & themes. The ending of the film is quite bad & is unintentionally funny, too. The performances are the highlight of the movie. Kristen Stewart is spectacular as Lou. Katy O'Brian is awe-inspiring as Jackie. Stewart & O'Brian share electrifying chemistry, in all their scenes together. Anna Baryshnikov is outstanding as Daisy. Dave Franco is unforgettable as JJ. Jenna Malone is brilliant as Beth. Ed Harris is outstanding as Lou Sr. The supporting cast is excellent. Love Lies Bleeding is worth a watch if you want to watch an original story. Just be prepared for a rollercoaster of a ride!

The First Omen
(2024)

A worthy origin story.
The First Omen takes place before the events of The Omen(1976). An American woman named Margaret(Nell Tiger Free), goes to Rome to become a nun & serve God. Soon, Margaret encounters malevolent forces that make her question her beliefs & discovers a horrifying conspiracy that aims to bring about the birth of evil personified.

The First Omen is an amazing film. Director Arkasha Stevenson has given us a movie that is creepy, terrifying at times, makes us feel a growing sense of dread & most importantly, justifies its existence within the iconic Omen franchise. There are not too many jump scares but, the few that are in there, are very well executed. The climactic set piece is unforgettable & the twists & turns will shock you. Nell Tiger Free is the star of the show, as Margaret. Free gives us another spectacular performance after Servant(2019-2023). Ralph Ineson is superb as Father Brennan. Sonia Braga is great as Sister Silva. Tawfeek Barhom is brilliant as Father Gabriel. Maria Caballero is excellent as Luz. Bill Nighy is outstanding as Cardinal Lawrence. Nicole Horace shines in her acting debut, as Carlita Scianna. Ishtar Currie-Wilson is phenomenal as Sister Anjelica. The supporting cast is memorable. The First Omen is a must watch for fans of The Omen(1976). Although it doesn't match up to the 1976 cult classic, it is still a welcome addition to the long dormant Omen franchise.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire
(2024)

Falls short of its predecessor.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire continues with the adventures of the legendary titans Godzilla & Kong, after the events of Godzilla(2014), Kong: Skull Island(2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters(2019) & Godzilla vs. Kong(2021). Godzilla & Kong fight against each other, as humans discover their interconnected origins & connection to the hidden secrets of Skull Island.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is an awesome film. Director Adam Wingard has given us a movie that has brilliant action sequences & is audacious for the most part. However, in the first half of the movie there's nothing much happening & there's a surprising lack of action. Godzilla vs. Kong(2021) is still the best movie in the franchise, because it puts the audience right in the middle of the action, immediately. Obviously, no one watches these Monster Universe films for character moments. The action set pieces are awe-inspiring & look even better in IMAX 3D. The visual effects are perfect. Rebecca Hall is superb as Ilene Andrews. Brian Tyree Henry is hilarious as Bernie Hayes. Dan Stevens is excellent as Trapper. Kaylee Hottle is phenomenal as Jia. The supporting cast is great. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is a must watch for fans of Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures' Monster Universe. Just lower your expectations a tad bit & you'll have a monstrously good time!

Arthur the King
(2024)

A feel-good adventure.
Arthur the King tells the story of Michael(Mark Wahlberg). Michael competes in grueling endurance races, that take place over multiple days. On one of these races, he is accompanied by a stray dog named Arthur, who joins Michael & his teammates on one of these epic challenges.

Arthur the King is a brilliant film. Director Simon Cellan Jones has given us a movie that is filled with great set pieces & has many heartwarming moments. The emotional & poignant scenes are of course inevitable, because it's another entry in the unbreakable bond between dogs & humans subgenre. The fact that this film is based on a true story, is absolutely mind-blowing. All the scenes involving the adorable stray dog Arthur(played by a dog named Ukai), are the highlight of the movie. Mark Wahlberg is fantastic as Michael. Simu Liu is awesome as Leo. Juliet Rylance is superb as Helen. Nathalie Emmanuel is spectacular as Olivia. Ali Suliman is outstanding as Chik. The supporting cast is impressive. Arthur the King is a must watch for dog lovers & pretty much everyone else.

Kung Fu Panda 4
(2024)

Unnecessary sequel but, entertaining nevertheless.
Kung Fu Panda 4 continues with the adventures of Po(Jack Black), after the events of Kung Fu Panda(2008), Kung Fu Panda 2(2011) & Kung Fu Panda 3(2016). Po is tasked with becoming the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. However, he has to search for & train a new Dragon Warrior. Meanwhile, a malevolent sorceress named The Chameleon(Viola Davis), plans to resurrect all the villains from Po's past, who he defeated & sent to the Spirit Realm.

Kung Fu Panda 4 is a superb film. Director Mike Mitchell has given us a movie that is funny, has those emotional scenes & is a perfectly good continuation of Po's story. However, this sequel didn't have to be made in the first place. Kung Fu Panda 3(2016) ended the franchise perfectly & this film feels like a cash cow. The comedic set pieces will make you chuckle quite often. The action set pieces are brilliant. However, the emotional scenes though impactful, lack the depth & poignancy of the emotional scenes in the previous three Kung Fu Panda movies. The animation is fantastic. The 3D is eye-popping. The vocal performances are the highlight of the film. Jack Black steals the show, as Po. Black gives us another spectacular performance as the lovable titular character. Awkwafina is perfect as Zhen. Viola Davis is outstanding as The Chameleon. Dustin Hoffman is amazing as Shifu. Bryan Cranston is awe-inspiring as Lee. James Hong is mind-blowing as Mr. Ping. Ian McShane, Ke Huy Quan & Ronny Chieng are awesome as Tai Lung, Han & Fish, respectively. The supporting cast is good. Kung Fu Panda 4 is worth a watch for fans of this franchise. Just lower your expectations & you'll definitely enjoy it.

The Zone of Interest
(2023)

Great concept but, extremely dragging.
The Zone of Interest tells the story of Auschwitz head Rudolf Hoss(Christian Friedel), his wife Hedwig(Sandra Huller) & his family. Rudolf & Hedwig aim to give their children the best life possible, while staying in an idyllic house with a beautiful garden, that just so happens to be next to the Auschwitz concentration camp.

The Zone of Interest is a great film. Director Jonathan Glazer has given us a movie that is thought-provoking & disturbing, when you think that many Nazis & their families shared a wall with concentration camps & could hear the horrific things happening but, just went about their day-to-day activities, just like every other household. The main flaw of the film, is that it moves along at a snail's pace. This movie would have definitely been more impactful & emotional, if they had shown the goings-on of the concentration camp, at least once. Christian Friedel is spectacular as Rudolf Hoss. Sandra Huller is outstanding as Hedwig Hoss. The supporting cast is awe-inspiring. The Zone of Interest is not a must watch. However, it's definitely worth a watch & just keep in mind that it's a slow burn thriller/drama & you won't be disappointed.

Dune: Part Two
(2024)

As epic as its predecessor.
Dune: Part Two is based on the second half of Frank Herbert's novel, Dune. It continues with the story of Paul Atreides(Timothee Chalamet), after the events of Dune(2021). Paul joins forces with Chani(Zendaya) & the rest of the Fremen, to wreak vengeance against the villains who destroyed his family.

Dune: Part Two is a mind-blowing film. Director Denis Villeneuve gives us another masterpiece, that is completely worthy of the big screen experience. This movie is on par with Dune(2021) & perfectly concludes the story in Frank Herbert's source material. The action set pieces are awe-inspiring & become very immersive in IMAX. The visual effects are flawless. The cinematography by Greig Fraser is mesmerizing. The background score by Hans Zimmer is unforgettable. The performances are the highlight of the film. Timothee Chalamet is spectacular as Paul Atreides. Zendaya is outstanding as Chani. Rebecca Ferguson is fantastic as Jessica. Javier Bardem is great as Stilgar. Josh Brolin is perfect as Gurney Halleck. Austin Butler is phenomenal as Feyd-Rautha. Florence Pugh is brilliant as Princess Irulan. Dave Bautista is good as Beast Rabban. Christopher Walken is effective as the Emperor. Lea Seydoux is awesome as Lady Margot Fenring. Stellan Skarsgard is amazing as Baron Harkonnen. Charlotte Rampling is excellent as Reverend Mother Mohiam. The supporting cast is superb. Dune: Part Two is a must watch, especially on the biggest screen available to you. It's a cinematic achievement, like no other! Can't wait for Denis Villeneuve's next movie!
