Tulsa King Season 2 Episode 6 pops us right in the home stretch of the second season, and the stakes just increased even more than anticipated.
A sit-down between the three warring factions went well enough that everyone left the meeting with smiles on their faces, but Bill thinks he succumbed to Dwight’s charms, screwing himself in the process.
Cal, the guy with the biggest chip on his shoulder and an insane new business partner, wasn’t even involved in the process. How could it have solved anything?
(Brian Douglas/Paramount+)
I was shocked that Tulsa King Season 2 Episode 5 skipped right over the after-effects of Jackie murdering people right under Cal’s nose.
It was even more shocking that he was his usual cocky self with Jackie during “Navigator” when he already saw what Jackie was capable of doing.
Sure, Chickie idiotically took a pistol through Tsa, and Bill snubbed his...

In part due to the industry strikes of 2023. ABC had three times as many reality shows as scripted shows last season. Of the nine scripted series on the Alphabet Network, only seven are returning for ABC's 2024-25 season. Will we see more comedies and dramas this season? Stay tuned!
ABC shows (so far): 20/20, 9-1-1, Abbott Elementary, America's Funniest Home Videos, Dancing with the Stars, Doctor Odyssey, The Golden Bachelorette, Grey's Anatomy, High Potential, Shark Tank, and What Would You Do?

Like it or not, network TV series typically live and die by their Nielsen ratings. Which programs are the best or the worst? If it were up to you, which TV series would be cancelled and renewed?

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is picking up where predecessors The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon left off — as the most watched program on broadcast Thursday night.
The Young Sheldon spinoff opened with 6.563 million total viewers in Live+Same Day linear ratings October 17 in the Thursday 8 p.m. slot previously occupied by Bbt and Young Sheldon, according to Nielsen data.
That was the high mark for the night, which featured Thursday Night Football and two baseball playoffs games on cable/streaming as well as some of the most popular broadcast series, led by the top breakout of the season so far, CBS’ Matlock. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage also logged the second most watched new series debut (L+Sd) of the broadcast season so far behind Matlock and third most watched premiere overall, behind the Season 2 opener of Tracker (8.31M) and Matlock.

Add Ryan Murphy to the list of Hollywood power players advocating for more production in Los Angeles. The executive producer and showrunner behind such hits as “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” “American Horror Story” and “9-1-1” has scheduled a meeting with California Gov. Gavin Newsom to help remedy this production problem.
“My company makes a lot of shows. We employ thousands and thousands of people, and I love that. For the most part, we’re trying to get people back to work in California post-strikes,” Murphy told TheWrap as part of a recent interview about his stellar run of series in 2024. “L.A. does not have enough film production. It’s not acceptable.”
The mega-producer confirmed he has set a meeting with Newsom, whom he called “very cool” and “a friend of mine.” “[I’m] going to really try and do everything that I can, because I think film and...

Ryan Murphy can’t stop winning this year. “American Horror Stories” hit No. 1 on Hulu’s Top 15 Today the week of its debut, making it the eighth Murphy show to hit dominate viewership in 2024.
“It’s like having eight children and they all got accepted to college,” Murphy told TheWrap. “I’m like, ‘Ok, well, I did my job.’ It feels good.”
It’s an unprecedented winning streak that started in January with the star-studded “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans” from Murphy, Jaffe Cohen and Michael Zam, a series that was nominated for 10 Emmys and won for Outstanding Period Costumes for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. It was then followed by the second half of “American Horror Story: Delicate” in April, a season that was showrun by Halley Feiffer and led by Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian. Both jumped to the No. 1 spot on Hulu’s Top 15 list after their premieres.

There could be more 9-1-1 on the horizon, and the possibilities surrounding that are endless.
When news broke via Variety recently that Ryan Murphy was working on another spinoff of the popular first responder procedural that would potentially come in the wake of 9-1-1: Lone Star officially ending its run over five seasons, many thoughts came to mind.
Fans were delighted to hear that there could be more 9-1-1 to devour, but the scarce details left many wondering what exactly the latest spinoff would entail.
(Disney/Justin Stephens)
Would one of the original characters from the original series or Lone Star find their way over to the new spinoff so audiences already knew a familiar face? Or would this new series feature a brand-new cast?
Would they keep the same setup as the others or switch things up?
And the most important question of all: what...

If you’ve been paying attention to the 9-1-1 fandom for the last seven years, you’ll know that there’s one particular couple fans can’t get off their minds: Buddie.
At least, we wish they were a couple.
That’s right, folks. In the midst of bee-nados, children copiloting airplanes, and Bobby’s new Hollywood gig, we’re still thinking about our favorite firefighter ship.

Buddie is, of course, the nickname fans have affectionately assigned to the Evan “Buck” Buckley and Eddie Diaz ship.
In a major win for LGBTQ+ representation, we learned that Buck is bisexual during 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 4.
Before that, there was technically no canonical reason to believe he or Eddie might belong to the LGBTQ+ community.
(Heavy emphasis on “technically.”)
Still, the subtext has always been there, and Buddie fans are tired of waiting.

This was more like it. Law & Order: Svu Season 26 Episode 2 revolved around a compelling story involving an incest case from 20 years ago.
The victim had grown up to become an alcoholic who didn’t fully remember what had happened to her. The accused was a powerful and respected judge, and the family all took his side.
This was close to a classic Svu episode, although it missed a few beats that would have made it even stronger.

Note: The following story contains spoilers from “9-1-1” Season 8, Episode 3.
“9-1-1” is no stranger to miraculous rescues, but Angela Bassett just pulled off the craziest one yet with Thursday’s plane landing extravaganza.
Concluding the three-episode event that kicked off with the ABC first responder drama’s buzzy Bee-nado, the latest episode followed as Athena Grant (Bassett) piloted a stranded passenger plane to safety with the help of air traffic control over the phone, her husband Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) and a very young video game enthusiast.

Exclusive: Buzz for the latest season of 9-1-1 is still growing ahead of Thursday night’s new episode.
The Season 8 premiere has now amassed 9.8M viewers after seven days of multi-platform viewing, according to ABC’s internal data. That’s a 106% increase from the live + same-day audience of 4.8M.
It’s also nearly a 20% lift from the three-day audience, which was already up to 8.27M. That’s to be expected, as 9-1-1 has a fairly dedicated swatch of viewers who tune in weekly — and who are likely to want to catch the episode before they get spoiled. The episode’s audience will most likely continue to grow in the 30-day window, albeit much slower than that initial uptick.
In linear only, the episode managed 6.8M viewers within the seven-day window, meaning that about 3M came from streaming.
In the 18-49 demographic, the Season 8 premiere is up to a 1.95 rating,...

Ryan Murphy is one of the most successful mega-producers in Hollywood, having launched shows like Glee, American Horror Story, Dahmer, 9-1-1 and more. And he never stops: just recently, he's announced new shows like Doctor Odyssey, Grotesquerie, and The Beauty. That last one, to put it bluntly, is about a sexually transmitted disease that makes you super-hot...and then kills you. "It’s something I’ve never done before, which is a sci-fi medical show about a new virus that mutates and it’s sexually transmitted, that turns you into your absolute perfect self," Murphy told Variety. "And the question is, how far would you go to be beautiful? What would you sacrifice to that, and does that matter? That show was looking at, I call it the Ozempic culture. One little shot, and suddenly you’re going to look better and feel better, and all your problems are going to go away.

As they say, when the Boeing gets tough, the tough gets Boeing.
Or something. Whatever.
The Boeing on 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 2 was headed for disaster, but it’s a good thing they had Athena Grant-Nash on board. She’s never backed down from a challenge.
(Disney/Eric McCandless)
It’s a little funny that the marketing campaign was targeted toward the bees when the Real emergency was this pretty damn epic airplane disaster that saw Athena turning into a pilot and the 118 giving triage to various patients aboard from the comforts of the firehouse.
I wondered how they would pull off Athena in the sky and still incorporate everyone else, and I was so pleased to see they found a way that didn’t feel like it was just shoehorning everyone in at the last minute.
No, those passengers needed the 118, and a Hen, Chimney, and Eddie over the phone...

Exclusive: Doctor Odyssey‘s maiden voyage seems to be going swimmingly.
Ryan Murphy’s latest procedural set sail on ABC last week and, so far, the premiere episode has tallied 13.6M cross-platform viewers in its first week, Disney says. That’s an impressive 230% increase over the episode’s live + same-day audience of 4.13M.
This is a monster start for Doctor Odyssey. While most broadcast series grow their audiences quite significantly in the week after they air, once episodes become available on streaming, it is fairly rare for an episode to average 10M viewers in that time frame — let alone blow right past it.
Within three days of viewing, the cruise ship drama had already delivered 7.59M viewers, making it ABC’s best drama premiere in four years, according to Disney. And after its first full day on Hulu, it was No. 1 on the streamer’s Top 15 Today list, and it has remained there since.

9-1-1: Lone Star might be coming to an end with its fifth season, but series’ creators Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear are working on a brand new spinoff for ABC. Speaking to Variety, Murphy confirmed, “Tim Minear and I are working on a new spinoff that we’re actually writing and that we hope to get on the air next fall.” 9-1-1 was created by Murphy, Minear, and Brad Falchuk and premiered on Fox on January 3, 2018. Fox canceled the series in May 2023, but ABC swooped in and saved the show. However, spinoff Lone Star, which premiered on January 19, 2020, will not be making the transition to ABC. “Sadly, we all love Lone Star, but the financials just didn’t work,” Murphy explained. “It’s a Disney company that was on a Fox network, and it just was never going to work. Television producer Ryan Murphy and co-creator Tim Minear are developing a new spinoff series set in the emergency response drama franchise “9-1-1.” This comes as “9-1-1: Lone Star” nears the end of its fifth and final season airing on Fox.
Murphy told Variety magazine that he and Minear are currently writing the untitled spinoff, hoping to debut it next fall on a new network. Not providing details, Murphy said the new show would focus on first responders in a different American city.
The success of the original “9-1-1” series on its new network ABC fueled interest in more franchise shows. “9-1-1” became the highest rated program on Thursday nights after moving from Fox. While excited for a new spinoff, fans are also sad that “Lone Star” is concluding. Murphy said financial problems led to cancelling the show after five seasons. As a Disney company on Fox, “Lone Star” struggled despite popular ratings.

The long-gestating second 9-1-1 spinoff may be getting closer to reality. Nothing is locked yet but conversations continue about a new installment of the first-responder drama as spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star is coming to an end.
As Deadline reported last month, unlike 9-1-1, which moved to ABC after six seasons on Fox, Lone Star is not expected to make the same transition after its current fifth and final season on Fox. Instead, 9-1-1 would get another spinoff on ABC in a new location, with Las Vegas among potential cities considered to follow Los Angeles (9-1-1) and Austin (9-1-1: Lone Star).
9-1-1 and Lone Star are created and executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, with Minear spearheading the franchise as showrunner. He and Murphy have been discussing a new installment, which is being eyed for next season, with a script being written.

Over the course of 10 days, Ryan Murphy released four new shows — “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” and “Grotesquerie” at FX, “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” at Netflix and “Doctor Odyssey” at ABC — and premiered new seasons of returning hits “9-1-1: Lone Star” at Fox and “9-1-1” at ABC.
“Six shows in a month is a lot, but everybody in my company worked really, really hard, and miraculously, they all worked,” Murphy told Variety during a conversation on Oct. 1. “They all launched at No. 1 and individually, they’re all doing really, really well.”
Everything coming out at once “wasn’t really planned that way,” Murphy said, but happened as part of his new deal at Disney, which he’s a year and a half into.
“It was a combination of the writers strike and my new deal. They asked me, when we finally realized, six things are coming out over the course of 10 days,...

Ryan Murphy is having a banner fall.
The viewership numbers for his buzzy Netflix series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” are very good. In its second week of eligibility, the true crime drama created by Murphy and Brad Falchuk secured 19.5 million views on Netflix, holding on to the No. 1 English-language TV series from last week and becoming the most watched Netflix title of the week. This comes after the second season of the crime series saw 12.3 million views in its first four days of availability.
In fact, the numbers for nearly every one of the super producer’s fall shows spanning four different networks and streamers have been, well, monster hits. In the past 10 days, Murphy launched or returned five different series across network and cable including the new “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” and “Grotesquerie” on FX and the new “Doctor Odyssey” on ABC as well as...

Ryan Murphy doesn’t do things by half.
This is a man who launched and brought back six television shows over the last two weeks including ABC’s Joshua Jackson-fronted Doctor Odyssey, FX’s Grotesquerie featuring Niecy Nash and Travis Kelce, and Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story; has another launching later this month in FX’s American Horror Stories; and is heading straight into a run that includes All’s Fair, starring the likes of Kim Kardashian and Glenn Close, reuniting with Evan Peters in FX sci-fi series The Beauty and the first iteration of American Love Story about John F. Kennedy Jr.
The data shows that such an “intense” workload is paying off.
Netflix revealed earlier Tuesday that Monsters: The Lyle & Erik Menendez Story scored 19.5 million views in its first full week on the service, where it is No. 1, and totaling nearly 32M views since it launched.

American Horror Stories returns with Henry Winkler, Michael Imperioli, Debby Ryan, Victor Garber and more for when its five-episode season releases for what’s being billed as a Hulaween event.
The series — a spinoff of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s award-winning anthology series American Horror Story — features a different horror story in each of its stand-alone episodes.
The minute-and-a-half look at the upcoming installment, premiering Oct. 15 as part of Hulu’s Halloween lineup, teases new takes on classic horror tropes such as “don’t look under the bed,” a scary figure appearing in the mirror and a woman appearing in an empty parking lot late at night.
“When she dreams, things happen,” a nurse tells Ryan’s character. “What kind of things?” she replies, before a scene plays of her in bed with a man who is pulled under the bed.
In another look at the anthology series, Garber...
