War as video game
I've never been to war, but my understanding is that it involves long periods of boredom and uncertainty. But in 'Dark Hearts', we see war as video game, as our heroes are continuously in combat, relentlessly taking out their enemies aided by high technology that ensures they (almost) always know exactly what is going on. More seriously, those enemies (Iraquis, in this case) are shown as barely human murderers, whose lives are correctly of no consequence. The drama is competently put together, and locally riveting (but so is Grand Theft Auto!); but it doesn't feel real, or show any understanding of what might drive an occupied people to terrorism.
