- Joy: I don't know how to stop Anxiety. Maybe we can't. Maybe this is what happens when you grow up. You feel less joy.
- [Joy is trying to drive a memory forklift while Anger, Disgust and Fear argue]
- Fear: This whole trip is just a series of deader and deader and deader ends!
- Anger: Ever since that alarm went off, nothing around here works!
- Fear: And I have never been inside so many jars in my life.
- Disgust: And the Riley we knew is gone!
- Anger: And if Joy can't see that, well then she's DELUSIONAL!
- [Joy faces them]
- Joy: [innocently] Delusional?
- [Snaps]
- Joy: Of course I'm delusional! Do you know how hard it is to stay positive all the time? When all you folks do is complain, complain, complain! Jiminy mother loving toaster strudel!
- [Joy proceeds to kick at the controls of the memory forklift. The emotions look shocked, except for Anger, who gives an appreciative smile]
- Joy: Do you think I know all the answers? Of course I don't!
- [Joy's face falls and she curls up into a ball on the floor in defeat]
- Joy: We can't even find the back of our own mind. Anxiety is right, Riley doesn't need us as much as she needs them...
- [cries]
- Joy: And it hurts! It really does...
- [the emotions stare at her in sympathy and then look at each other. They have never seen Joy crumble before. Anger steps forward]
- Anger: [gently] Joy, you've made a lot of mistakes and you'll make a whole lot more in the future, but if you let *that* stop you, *we* might as well lie down and give up.
- Fear: Now, actually that sounds like a good...
- Disgust: [Disgust slaps Fear, signalling him to shut up]
- Anger: [holding his hand out and helping Joy to her feet] Come on,
- Riley Anderson: [from the trailer] I'M THE WORST!
- Mom's Anger: Welp, there's a preview of the next ten years.
- Anxiety: Oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry! I can get ahead of myself. I'm Anxiety, one of Riley's new emotions, and we are all super jazzed to be here. Where can I put my stuff?
- [Holds up several suitcases]
- Anger: [to Joy] Joy, you've made a lot of mistakes, A lot... and you're going to make a lot more in the future. But if you let that stop you now, *we* might as well lie down and give up.
- Dad's Anxiety: [from trailer] She goes away for three days and all we get is "good"?
- Mrs. Andersen: [from trailer] Riley, you aren't packed yet
- [Riley sniffs her armpit]
- Disgust: Let the professional handle this.
- Riley Anderson: [Freaking out] I'm too gross to go to camp or anywhere ever AGAIN!
- Mom's Anger: Well, we all knew this day would come.
- Mom's Sadness: Remember, we agreed not to make a big deal out of this.
- Mrs. Andersen: You are not gross, honey, you're just changing.
- Mom's Disgust: But she really does stink.
- Mom's Anger: Oh, it's bad.
- Anger: [Anger has just drawn a cute, positive picture of Riley] What? I can't always be the rage guy!
- Mrs. Andersen: Riley! You haven't finished packing yet?
- Riley Anderson: [Anger presses a button on the control board, causing Riley to overreact] Rrr! Why are you always on me?
- Disgust: Overreacting a bit, much?
- Anger: I barely touched it!
- Riley Anderson: [Sadness touches the console, making Riley cry] I'm the WORSSST!
- Sadness: [backing away] I barely touched it!
- Mrs. Andersen: [concern] Riley, what's wrong?
- Disgust: [Riley stops crying as she smells her armpit] Stand back everyone, let the professional take care of this.
- [Disgust presses a button on the console]
- Riley Anderson: [Freaking out] I'm too gross to go to camp or anywhere AGAIN!
- Disgust: Oh yeah... That's definitely broken!
- Bree's Sadness: What is she doing?
- Bree's Anger: She's looking at our look!
- Bree's Disgust: No, it's much more than that.
- Bree's Joy: She looks the same to me.
- Bree's Disgust: Overlay and compare. See? Riley then, Riley now. Riley then, Riley now.
- Bree's Anger: Oh, it's so obvious.
- Bree's Sadness: But what does it mean?
- Bree's Disgust: [dramatically whipping off her glasses] She knows we're hiding something.
- Riley Anderson: [making gun shapes with her hands] Yea-eah!
- Anxiety: That's not gonna haunt us for the rest of our lives at all.
- Joy: [knowing that getting Anxiety away from the console is the only way to remove the corrupted Sense of Self and stop Riley's panic attack, Joy fights the force of Anxiety's twister and makes her way inside] Anxiety, stop!
- [Joy tries to grab Anxiety, but can't since Anxiety is frantically moving across the console so fast that she appears to be in one place. Joy makes eye contact with Anxiety.]
- Joy: [firmly] You don't get to choose who Riley is.
- [Anxiety still doesn't let go of the console]
- Joy: [softly] Anxiety?
- [a tear forms in Anxiety's eye, knowing she let things go too far]
- Joy: [comforting] You need to let her go.
- [Anxiety makes eye contact with Joy. Knowing Joy is right, she lets go of the console. Joy grabs Anxiety and jumps through the twister.]
