Tribute to Eric Rohmer (2010)
*** (out of 4)
As the title clearly states, this here is a tribute to Eric Rohmer that originally premiered at the Cinematheque Francaise and features a black screen with white letters, which are articles that Rohmer had written. While the article names flash in front of us, Godard can be heard talking. That's pretty much all there is to this three-minute tribute and knowing that it comes from Godard should tell you not to expect anything too normal. I say that because there are countless ways that a tribute could have been handled but only Godard would try something like this. I thought the short was quite entertaining even though, at the same time, I'll admit that I have no idea what Godard's words were trying to say. I know Godard fans go back and forth when it comes to trying to figure out what his movies and words mean so I'll leave it to someone else to find the true meaning of this piece. As for me, I was entertained by the film so that's enough to recommend it to people.
