Liam Neeson’s career significantly diverted when he switched to being a hardcore action star with Taken. Previously, the Ireland-born actor made a massive name in critically acclaimed historical fiction and drama films. Presently, even at 72, he is one of this era’s most well-decorated action heroes.

Liam Neeson has given some memorable action flicks like The Grey, Cold Pursuit, and Wrath of the Titans. Many fans were afraid that his action career may soon come to an end due to his age. Recently, when the actor talked about this during an interview, he savagely stated that he would only quit the genre when his fight coordinator feels that he is too old to continue.

Hulu is giving Shark Week a run for its money this July with not one but seven National Geographic specials dropping on the streaming service at the start of the month. From Shark Beach with Anthony Mackie to Baby Sharks in the City, there are plenty of options for fans of these fearsome finned creatures.
Hulu also has a couple of fun offerings for adult animation fans with the full second season of Marvel’s Hit Monkey dropping on July 15 and Futurama returning for its 12th season on July 29th.
There’s not really anything notable in the way of original movies on Hulu this month, but Aliens, Step Brothers, and (500) Days of Summer are just a few of the noteworthy movies joining the library.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Platinum Dunes, the production company headed up by Michael Bay and Bradley Fuller, are teaming up with director Jonathan Liebesman – who they previously worked with on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and their 2014 version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – to make a werewolf movie called Wolf Night. Now Deadline reports that Wolf Night has found a home at Sony’s Screen Gems.
Michael Bitar is overseeing the project for Screen Gems, while Alex Ginno does the same for Platinum Dunes.
Screen Gems has put out a whole lot of horror movies over the years, with titles including Don’t Breathe, Resident Evil, Underworld, Deliver Us from Evil, The Grudge, Carrie, The Stepfather, Prom Night, The Pope’s Exorcist, Insidious: The Red Door, and the upcoming Tarot. They recently secured a first-look deal with Gary Dauberman, who worked on the...

We had learned about an interesting horror project earlier this month titled Wolf Night, a werewolf movie set to be directed by Jonathan Liebesman. The film has been compared to both District 9 and The Purge… with werewolves… and Deadline brings us a big update this week.
The hot Platinum Dunes package has been picked up by Screen Gems, Deadline informs us, with Michael Bay and Brad Fuller producing Wolf Night for Platinum Dunes.
Will Honley and April Maguire wrote the screenplay for Wolf Night, but aside from the comparisons to the aforementioned movies, the plot is under wraps at this time.
Jonathan Liebesman’s directorial credits over the years also include Rings (2005), The Killing Room (2009), Wrath of the Titans (2012), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014).
Will Honley recently wrote Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.

Mythology offers some of the most enduring and rich stories when it comes to epic storytelling. And at the top of the pantheon of mythical figures sits Zeus, the king of the gods in Greek mythology. Throughout Hollywood history, many stars have tried their hands at playing this powerful deity, with varying degrees of success.
Having said that, it makes sense that we should honor the actors who gorgeously portrayed Zeus on screen. Since he is the undisputed leader of Mount Olympus, it is about time he had his own list. Those who have portrayed Zeus on screen have done so with a certain stoicism that is more in line with ancient Greek depictions.

It’s Millie Bobby Brown versus dragon in Netflix’s dark fantasy adventure. Here’s our review of Damsel:
By pure coincidence, Damsel arrives on Netflix almost exactly a century after German director Fritz Lang introduced what was likely cinema’s first dragon in 1924’s Die Nibelungen. Lang and his collaborators brought their fearsome creature to life with a mixture of rubber, mechanical joints and puppetry (plus a bit of cocaine if one account is to be believed), and the result has a physical presence that is still captivating 100 years later.
In Damsel, director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and production designer Patrick Tatopoulos used CGI to create their dragon, but it still has plenty of weight, personality, and most importantly, menace. Unlike the gigantic winged beasts of, say, 1981’s Dragonslayer (which had terrific animation from Phil Tippett) or 2002’s Reign Of Fire, Damsel’s dragon is also relatively compact – it’s...

The folks at Platinum Dunes, the production company headed up by Michael Bay and Bradley Fuller, clearly love working with director Jonathan Liebesman. After working with Liebesman on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, they had him attached to direct their reboot of Friday the 13th for a while – and even though Liebesman wasn’t at the helm of that one by the time it went into production, they did work with him again, on their 2014 version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now, a decade later, Platinum Dunes and Jonathan Liebesman are re-teaming for a werewolf movie called Wolf Night.
Deadline wasn’t able to dig up much information on Wolf Night, but they did learn that the project is being described as “District 9 by way of The Purge“. Will Honley, whose writing credits include Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, wrote the screenplay with April Maguire.

Jonathan Liebesman, who directed remake prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning back in 2006, is attached to direct a werewolf movie for Platinum Dunes titled Wolf Night, and Deadline brings us the first word on the project this afternoon.
We don’t yet have a plot synopsis for Wolf Night but the script from writers Will Honley and April Maguire is said to be “District 9 by way of The Purge –but with werewolves.”
Multiple studios are said to be bidding on the Wolf Night package as we speak.
Michael Bay and Brad Fuller will produce for Platinum Dunes.
Jonathan Liebesman’s directorial credits also include Darkness Falls (2003), Rings (2005), The Killing Room (2009), Wrath of the Titans (2012), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014).
Will Honley recently wrote Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.

Millie Bobby Brown’s latest star turn for Netflix is Damsel, a fantasy action adventure that arrives in just a few months.
Thanks to Netflix now choosing to release viewing hours for all of its film and TV programming, we now know that between January and June of this year, the YA take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s collection of detective tales, Enola Holmes 2, racked up over 30m hours worth of viewing. That places the film somewhere in Netflix’s top 600, but doesn’t account for the initial (and presumably huge) viewership spike when the film first launched (since it released in November of 2022).
Enola Holmes 2 was led by Millie Bobby Brown, who continues to be a major part of the streaming platform’s plans.
Not only have we heard talk of a third entry in the Elona Holmes series of films reportedly on the way, but...

The episode of The Black Sheep covering The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Brandon Nally, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
When did the Texas Chainsaw movies get so muddled with so many timelines? It’s not a hard thing to do. People get lost in Texas and end up victims of Leatherface and his family. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a story line or a variation on things from time to time, hell, that’s what made Freddy, Michael, and Jason so popular. You could have even done something like the legacy sequel for Halloween, at least the first one. Oh wait, you did, and it didn’t turn out well with characters that made terrible decisions and weren’t likeable in the first place? Oh yeah, I remember that one.

Perhaps the biggest mistake the “Fast and Furious” franchise ever made was in “F9: The Fast Saga,” when the characters suddenly became self-aware and realized that after all the physics-defying vehicular mayhem they’ve been through, they always miraculously emerge unscathed.
How could they have defied the odds for so long? Are they truly immortal or are they merely blessed with impenetrable plot armor? And if any of those things are true why should the audience care one whit about what happens to them? Especially when even the characters who do die usually come back after a sequel or two.
“F9” made a convincing case for letting this whole “Fast and Furious” series finally end. But just when you thought it was okay to check out, “Fast X” pulls you back in. Louis Leterrier’s installment does an impressive job of making all the old nonsense make a little bit of sense again.

The end of the road begins. Fast X, the tenth film in the Fast & Furious Saga, launches the final chapters of one of cinema’s most storied and popular global franchises, now in its third decade and still going strong with the same core cast and characters as when it began.

After ten films in the Fast & Furious series, an eleventh immediately nigh, and a twelfth on the docket, one might see some themes beginning to emerge. Guys, I think these movies might be about family.
"Fast X," due in theaters on May 19, promises to be the largest yet, a pattern that this series has followed since its first chapter in 2001. With the "Fast X" budget rising to $340 million, the tenth installment in the franchise will unite no fewer than 17 characters, and sport a villain (Jason Momoa) seeking revenge for his murdered father, the villain of "Fast Five." Judging by the "Fast X" trailer, all the series' usually enjoyable absurdities appear to be intact, including a trek around the globe and a general hatred of the laws of physics. One can be assured this film will be just as goofy and entertaining as the last few have been.
Although, there...

Judging by the "Fast X" trailer, all the series' usually enjoyable absurdities appear to be intact, including a trek around the globe and a general hatred of the laws of physics. One can be assured this film will be just as goofy and entertaining as the last few have been.
Although, there...

Bidding to attract some of the biggest movies on earth for far longer shoots, Spain’s Canary Islands has powered up its maximum tax relief available on a single film lensed there to €36 million (38.9 million) per movie. That is one of the highest movie shoot caps in Europe.
In a parallel move, ceilings on fiscal incentives enjoyed by TV productions – whether made for established players or streaming services – have been raised to an extraordinary €18 million (19.4 million) per single episode. There is no limit on the number of episodes which can enjoy this facility.
Rolling off a Canary Island Special Zone (Zec) tax status offered to regions on the periphery of the European Union, the Islands already offered one of the highest deduction rates for film and TV shoots anywhere in the world: 54 for a first €1 million (1.1 million) eligible expenditure and 45 on further spend.

1981’s Clash of the Titans signals the end of an era. In the fifties, sixties and even part of the seventies, stop-motion maestro Ray Harryhausen was the guy you went to if you wanted to do a fantasy epic. His stop-motion animation brought so many fantasy adventures to life, such as Jason and the Argonauts, Mysterious Island and the various Sinbad movies. He was easily one of the people responsible for truly bringing magic into the movies, but the game started to change in the seventies, especially once Star Wars was released. By the time other fantasy epics like Conan the Barbarian were being planned, Harryhausen was at work on what would be his most ambitious movie to date, Clash of the Titans.
Telling the myth of Perseus, Harryhausen would face some of the most significant logistical challenges of his career, as he’d have to use his effects to portray Medusa,...

Actor Sam Worthington, who was a candidate to play the super spy before Daniel Craig landed the role in 2006’s ‘Casino Royale’, with producer Barbara Broccoli even personally cutting his hair to match her vision of 007 before he filmed his screen test, but he was ultimately lacking in one particular area.
“I could play Bond as a killer, but I couldn’t get the debonair down for the life of me. The suit did not fit,” he explained, reports aceshowbiz.com.
The ‘Avatar’ actor was also eyed for the title role in ‘Green Lantern’, which ultimately went to Ryan Reynolds – but his bluntness took him out of the running. He recalled asking: “It didn’t make much sense to me – the suit comes out of his skin.”

Sam Worthington almost went from “Avatar” to DC superhero…that is, if the script had made sense to him.
The “Avatar: The Way of Water” actor revealed that he was almost cast in 2011 DC film “Green Lantern” as Hal Jordan — except he couldn’t wrap his head around the plot.
“It didn’t make much sense to me — the suit comes out of his skin?” Worthington told Variety. “And I was like, ‘He’s got this powerful ring that can create anything. Well, what can beat the ring?’ The answer was, ‘Nothing.’ I was like, ‘Well, something needs to beat it, or it won’t be very interesting.'”
Ryan Reynolds eventually took over the lead role and the film was an infamous flop, earning 116.6 million at the U.S. box office. Worthington went on to star in “Man on a Ledge” and “Wrath of the Titans.”

On the tail of Terminator: Salvation and Avatar, Sam Worthington has given the chance to be part of another franchise, starring in both 2010’s Clash of the Titans and its 2012 sequel, Wrath of the Titans. In them, Worthington played Perseus, the son of Zeus–but his spin on the character’s appearance caused major issues with the director.
Considering Perseus was a demigod–or part human, part god–Sam Worthington took a unique approach to his physique when it came time to reprise the role in Wrath of the Titans. “I looked at it as Perseus was half a god and half a dad, and he had decided that he didn’t want the god part anymore…So I decided to develop a dad bod and that I wouldn’t care what I looked like.”

Ken Loach has criticised the BBC, saying it played a “shameless role” in “the destruction of Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership”.
The British film director, 85, expressed the belief that the BBC “played a prime role” in the former Labour leader’s exit from the party.
According to Loach, Corbyn’s “political project has been wiped out of the public discourse” despite “nearly becoming the government three years ago”.
Corbyn stepped down as Labour leader in 2020 following the party’s defeat in the 2019 general election.
Loach said that Corbyn’s role had been “delegitimised”, telling Equal Times: “They’ve rewritten history so that it doesn’t exist. It’s like the photograph of Trotsky that Stalin cut out.
“The man doesn’t exist in history. Jeremy Corbyn doesn’t exist in history now.”

Sam Worthington has said he regrets certain career choices after winning the lead role in Avatar.
The Australian star was plucked from obscurity to play Jake Sully in James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster, following which he was lined up to play several Hollywood roles.
One such character was Perseus in 2010’s Clash of the Titans. Worthington returned to play the character again in sequel Wrath of the Titans, which was released in 2012.
However, Worthington does not look back fondly on the experience and, in one instance, he admits he himself made the situation quite difficult.
“You can’t create a character if there’s nothing there,” Worthington said in a new interview. “On the Clash movies, that was the problem.”
He told Variety: “You were getting new pages every day, and it’s too complicated. The movies that I did right after Avatar were great big spectacles, but I should have...

Avatar star Sam Worthington discussed his close brush with 007.
The Australian actor was one of the finalists up for the role that ultimately went to Daniel Craig who took over as James Bond for 2006’s Casino Royale.
Speaking to Variety ahead of the release of Avatar: The Way of the Water on Friday (16 December), Worthington recalled flying to screen test for mega-producer Barbara Broccoli, who personally cut his hair to fit her vision for the next Bond.
“I could play Bond as a killer, but I couldn’t get the debonair down for the life of me,” Worthington said. “The suit did not fit.”
Worthington went on to beat out a host of well-known actors to land Avatar as a relative unknown, director James Cameron told Variety.
“It was a bit daunting because he had an accent like Crocodile Dundee,” Cameron said. “I saw a lot of actors, names you’d be quite impressed by.

Now that Avatar: The Way of Water is taking audiences back to Pandora, actor Sam Worthington returns to the spotlight as the Aussie actor took a back step to supporting roles after dealing with the struggles of fame and franchises after the critically panned Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans. He would take smaller parts in films that were lower budget and more critically driven, like The Shack and the series Under the Banner of Heaven.
Worthington is now set for multiple sequels for Avatar, and the actor sits with Variety to talk about his personal life after breaking through with the first film. He reveals in the interview that he was given the opportunity to try out for many roles. However, before Avatar, he tested for James Bond during the casting for Casino Royale. In the trailer, Mills can be seen telling Koa: “You need to be quiet – and move. You and I are going to get home.”

The Hollywood star, who is 67, has now been pictured posing with a puppy alongside his wife Emma Heming and his children.
The photos were shared on Instagram by his ex-wife Demi Moore, with whom he has remained friends since divorcing in 2000.

Scarlett Johansson has opened up about being “groomed” to be a bombshell actor early on in her career.
In a new interview, the Black Widow star opened up about how she was typecast from the beginning of her career.
“I did Lost in Translation and Girl With the Pearl Earring and by that point, I was 18, 19 and I was coming into my own womanhood and learning my own desirability and sexuality,” she said.
The 38-year-old continued: “I was kind of being groomed, in a way, to be this what you call a bombshell-type actor.”
“I was playing the other woman and the object of desire and I suddenly found myself cornered in this place. I couldn’t get out of it,” Johansson explained.
“Right around that time is when I met Bryan [Lourd],” the actor said referring to her longtime agent, who helped her break out of the “bombshell” pathway.

Ryan Coogler has spoken out about the difficulties of making Black Panther: Wakanda Forever after the death of Chadwick Boseman.
Boseman played T’Challa, the Black Panther, in the first film, as well as in several other pictures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Coogler, who co-wrote and directed Black Panther and the follow-up film, released in November, has spoken out about “feeling uncomfortable” continuing the story without Boseman.

Nicolas Cage has admitted that he spent his childhood convinced he was an alien.
In a new interview, the 58-year-old actor admitted that he was shocked to discover that he had “normal organs and a normal skeleton”.
“My father told me he felt like he had to introduce himself to me because I was such an alien,” he told Rampstyle magazine.
“I was shocked the day I went to the doctor’s office as a child and I found out that I had normal organs and a normal skeleton because I was certain I was from another planet.”

Darren Aronofsky has defended his new film The Whale against accusations of fatphobia.
The film stars Brendan Fraser as an obese and reclusive English teacher who has a troubled relationship with his daughter, played by Sadie Sink.
While the film has garnered mixed reviews, Fraser has been praised for his performance, which saw him gain weight for the role and wear an elaborate prosthetic fatsuit.
However, the film has been denounced by many critics for its handling of the subject matter, with some deeming the film fatphobic.
In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Aronofsky said that he didn’t anticipate the backlash when first casting Fraser.
“Actors have been using makeup since the beginning of acting – that’s one of their tools,” the filmmaker said. “And the lengths we went to portray the realism of the make-up has never been done before.
“One of my first calls after casting Brendan was to my makeup artist,...

Kate Winslet discussed her reunion with director James Cameron on The Graham Norton Show Friday (9 December) night.
The actor stars in Cameron’s highly anticipated Avatar sequel, The Way of the Water, out 16 December.
However, Winslet famously said in the past that it would take a lot for her to work with the director again after her “frightening” experience filming Titanic (1997).
“There were times I was genuinely frightened of him,” Winslet, who was 21 when she was cast as Rose opposite Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack, told the Los Angeles Times in 1997.
She told The Guardian two years later: “He has a temper like you wouldn’t believe. You’d have to pay me a lot of money to work with Jim again.”
Asked about working with the director again by Norton, Winslet responded: “It’s nearly 27 years since Titanic and I was very young. Looking back so much gets twisted. Jim...

James Cameron is confident that the visual effects in Avatar: The Way of the Water are going to blow fans away.
In fact, the director said that when it comes to motion capture and crafting emotive faces, Marvel is “not even close”.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Cameron was asked if the explosion in superhero movies since the first Avatar movie was released in 2009 has raised the bar in terms of VFX.
“Obviously, the big comic book films have been driving the sheer volume of the industry,” Cameron responded. “The rising tide of technique raises everybody together. It gives you higher quality artists, more tools and plug-ins and code [to use]. You’ve got more talented people writing code out there.”
He added: “Our team at Weta Digital [the New Zealand effects company cofounded by Peter Jackson] is constantly having new hires, and it’s coming out of that pool, so it improves everything. That said, Weta FX, as it’s called now,...

Former Jackass star Bam Margera has reportedly been rushed to hospital with a “very serious” case of pneumonia.
The stunt performer and skateboarder is reported to have tested positive for Covid while in hospital, and is currently on a ventilator.
A report inTMZ citing “sources close to the situation” claims that Margera is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of a San Diego hospital.
His condition, however, is said to be stable.
The Independent has contacted a representative of Margera for comment and confirmation.
Last year, Margera entered a 12-month drug and alcohol treatment programme.
Alongside Johnny Knoxville, Steve-o, Chris Pontius and others, Margera was one of the original members of the Jackass crew, performing stunts in the MTV series and subsequent film adaptations.
However, Margera did not feature in the recent sequel, Jackass Forever, and claimed that he had been fired partway through production after failing a drugs test.
