In this edition of The Silver Lining, we’ll be covering Grégory Levasseur’s Egyptology-based Found Footage flick, The Pyramid.
Acclaimed director Alexandre Aja first rose to notoriety as a member of the early 2000s French Extremity movement after shocking audiences with the intensely gory Haute Tension (A.K.A. High Tension/Switchblade Romance). While this peculiar little slasher flick eventually led Aja to an international career as a celebrated director and producer, part of his success can be attributed to his friend and frequent collaborator, Grégory Levasseur.
From Haute Tension to The Hills Have Eyes and even Piranha 3D, Aja has always been backed up by Levasseur, who co-wrote and produced most of his projects. That’s why it stands to reason that the director would eventually pull a few strings and scramble together a budget for Levasseur to direct his first feature film, which would come in the...

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer questions for us, Cavan, and congratulations on your new comic book series The Ward! When did you originally come up with the idea for The Ward?
It came about maybe four or five years ago when watching medical dramas with my wife. She’s a big fan of things like ER or Code Black. In fact, Code Black was instrumental in coming up with the idea. I went back and watched the phenomenal documentary that the show was based on which have these crazy scenes when medics are having to operate on patients right in the middle of an open emergency...

ABC Family has green-lit Beyond, a new supernaturally tinged TV show from Heroes creator, Tim Kring…
Tim Kring’s stock isn’t showing any signs of dropping in value. This year, the Heroes creator has helmed Heroes Reborn for NBC and the action thriller miniseries Dig - alongside Gideon Raff - for the USA network.
Now, another project has been added to Kring’s slate. His latest supernaturally tinged creation, Beyond, has been greenlit by ABC Family.
Beyond is all about Holden, ‘a young man who wakes up in a hospital not realizing he’s been in a coma for 12 years, emotionally still a teenager, physically an adult, and possibly in possession of supernatural powers.’
Burkely Duffield (pictured) will play Holden. Duffield is probably best known for playing Eddie in House Of Anubis, but has also popped up in The Tomorrow People, Minority Report and Supernatural over the last few years.

Here's one of those 'This'll make you feel old' factoids - it's two years since the last ever episode of Skins aired.
E4's groundbreaking hormone-fest wrapped up on August 5, 2013 - with an older Cook (Jack O'Connell) heading off into an uncertain future at the close of 'Rise (Part Two)'.
Cook was but one of 27 major characters featured on Skins across three 'Generations' - in a total of 61 episodes, split into seven series. But where are the teen tearaways of Roundview College now?
Generation One
1. Nicholas Hoult
Hoult played Tony Stonem - the pre-eminent bad boy of Skins - across its first two series. Later badly hurt in a traffic accident and forced to rely on others, Tony had mellowed by his final episodes.
Now aged 25, Hoult has become a bona-fide Hollywood star with roles in this year's Mad Max: Fury Road and the much-anticipated book adaptations Dark Places and Kill Your Friends.

Woof. As Mel Brooks would say, ‘This movie is revolting!’ ‘You’re telling me, it stinks on ice!’ To call this movie garbage is to do a disservice to the artistry of landfills. Starring relative newcomer Alexandra Shipp, perhaps known by Nickelodeon fans who follow the British import House of Anubis and who will be more known when she takes over as Ororo Munroe/Storm in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, Aaliyah: The Princes of R&B certainly does not herald the birth of a new starlet. Made-for-tv by those connoisseurs of crud over at Lifetime, the film went into production with the adamant disapproval of Aaliyah’s family and, laughably, did not even get rights to any of her hit music. The result, therefore, is a mismanaged, cumbersome exercise in flatfooted biopic film-making without any real connection to the life, times, and work of the titular subject. Good luck getting through 88-minutes.

It seems Storm and Jean Grey will be seeing some close-quarters combat in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, as celebrity fight trainer Holly Lawson is currently getting Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis) and Sophie Turner (Game Of Thrones) ready for the upcoming shoot. Obviously this isn't any indication of the looks they'll sport for the movie, but the rumor is we might just see them in something resembling their classic comic book outfits anyway. We have no way of verifying that of course, but if Singer does kit the team out in some sort of costumes I think it's a safe bet we won't be seeing the black leather again at any rate. Filmmaker Bryan Singer has used Twitter to break the news about the casting of three younger versions of existing "X-Men" characters in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse".
Alexandra Shipp ("House of Anubis," "Aaliyah: Princess of R&B") will play Storm. Sophie Turner, best known for her work as Sansa Stark in HBO's "Game of Thrones," will play Jean Grey. Finally, "Mud" and "Tree of Life" actor Tye Sheridan will play Cyclops.
The announcement follows weeks of speculation about the various actors up for these roles in the 1980s-set project, these actors taking over for the likes of Halle Berry, Famke Janssen and James Marsden who played the parts in the original trilogy of "X-Men" films along with last year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past".

Lifetime offered viewers a first look at its Aaliyah biopic this weekend, releasing a brief, 15-second trailer that shows its new star, Alexandra Shipp, taking on the role of the late R&B singer.
While the short trailer shows little more than a moody glimpse of Shipp undertaking some of Aaliyah's distinctive choreography and channeling her fashion and attitude, it also provides some reassurance that the production is back on track after a rocky start earlier this summer. At the end of the clip comes a note that Aaliyah: The...

After being put on hold following the high-profile exit of its leading lady, Lifetime's unauthorized Aaliyah biopic is back on track, with a new star and a premiere date.
The network will air "Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B" on November 15, and it will feature actress Alexandra Shipp in the title role. Shipp, who starred on Nickelodeon series "House of Anubis," takes over for Zendaya Coleman, the actress and singer who landed the part earlier this year, but backed out this summer over concerns about the quality of the film.
Coleman's exit -- which caused a temporary shutdown of the production -- wasn't the only controversy the flick faced, with Aaliyah's family publicly denouncing the project as unworthy of the late singer, who died in a plane crash in 2001 at the age of 22. Aaliyah's estate blocked the use of her recordings in the flick, but does not own publishing rights to her music,...

First Robin Hood, then Merlin, now it’s Atlantis that gets the Saturday night treatment by the BBC.
Robin Hood may have been a tad pantomime in places, whilst Merlin took a few series to become an impressively dark show with a great sense of humour. Both series were really there to fill in the gap between series of Doctor Who and whatever reality show the BBC chose to throw at us.
Robin Hood fell apart when the lead actors departed, whilst Merlin soldiered on and overcame its critics. When Atlantis was announced, it seemed that the BBC was going for the 'third time lucky' approach with a Saturday evening series that would complement Doctor Who and...

Though Peter Facinelli has appeared in five Twilight movies that make him easily recognizable in most corners of the world, to me he'll always be Mike Dexter, the bullying jock of Can't Hardly Wait. And as part of that late '90s cast of young actors, he'll always tap into that era's nostalgia, making him a welcomed presence to me, whatever the picture. So the fact that's he's lined up to front a new supernatural horror movie is just gravy. Penned by Thir13en Ghosts' scribe Richard D.Ovidio, this freaky feature is set in Bogota, Columbia, where Facinelli's character, an American widower, chases his runaway teen daughter (Ramos) who has fled to her departed mother's homeland.
