The game action recreated for the film was shot during a prime-time night game, but the historical event of Clemson hosting unranked Florida Atlantic University for the season opener in Memorial Stadium on Saturday 2 September 2006, was actually played in the afternoon.
Although the producers went to considerable lengths to recreate the 2006 look of the Clemson team, down to shoe styles, and to the coach's polo shirt designs, two things could not be duplicated. The Clemson Tiger Band forms a tunnel formation on the field for the team to run throw at the beginning of the game, but the band's uniforms have changed since that era and the performers were not part of the filming at halftime. The tradition of releasing orange balloons as the team runs down the hill was discontinued in 2018 for environmental reasons and was also not included, even though it would have been seen in 2006.
