This post contains mild spoilers for "Blood Creek."
Vampire horror movies are a dime-a-dozen, often falling into the same genre trappings or retreading familiar storylines. This is not always a bad thing, though, as long as there's fun to be had: films like "Blade" or "Van Helsing" entertain us by expertly balancing thrilling action with dramatic tension while knowing it is best not to indulge in self-seriousness. Well, what about an odd little vampire tale that is both campy and self-serious, as well as equal parts ridiculous and entertaining? Welcome to Joel Schumacher's unforgettable "Blood Creek," where a Nazi vampire scholar named Richard Wirth (a young Michael Fassbender) wreaks havoc after being freed from captivity by two brothers who really should have known better. Henry Cavill and Dominic Purcell play Evan and Victor Marshall, respectively, and it is up to this duo to try and stop this near-immortal Nazi...

Have you ever found yourself entranced by the magnetism of Henry Cavill, whose illustrious career has led us on an adventure through dramas with titles like Tristan and Isolde, I Capture the Castle, and the seductive political maze of The Tudors? Or perhaps you’ve soared alongside him as he embraced the mantle of a modern myth in blockbuster superhero epics like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
But regardless of where you usually satisfy your Henry Cavill cravings, you have undoubtedly noticed that the man is extremely attractive. Have you ever found yourself lost in the sculpted features of the Man of Steel star, questioning if anyone else is equally spellbound by his grace?

Guy Ritchie is back with The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Based on what is allegedly the first “Black Ops” mission it’s a variation on The Dirty Dozen and all the knock-offs that followed, right up to and including Inglourious Basterds.
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare opens with a boat having just been boarded by several members of the German Navy. As they pour gasoline over the deck, they tell its occupants they have the choice of staying on board and burning to death, or jumping overboard and drowning. For some reason, however, they don’t seem very worried.
From there we jump back 25 days, to Churchill watching newsreel footage about Hitler’s U-boats keeping American troops from entering the war.

I am of that age that still thinks the 80s was 30 years ago and that the 90s just happened. Strange as that logic is, there’s nothing like movie anniversaries to pull me back into reality. Last episode we looked at In the Mouth of Madness and its impact now going strong 30 years later. That flick though, like most of John Carpenter’s catalogue, was something that was already out when I started my movie journey. I had already seen it on VHS and on TV from time to time which puts it in another category altogether. Move ahead just 5 short years to 1999, one of the greatest years in cinema history, and we start getting that 25 years of existence that puts that nice existential crisis right into my gut. Today we are going to look at one of those movies that probably isn’t considered a traditional horror movie but is absolutely horrific in nature.

Schitt’s Creek premiered in Canada in 2015. After it began streaming on Netflix, the series blew up — even earning Emmys for its last season. Speaking of that final outing, the show’s finale found itself with some detractors. While fans ate it up, star Annie Murphy was so unhappy when she read the last script she threatened to quit before filming.
The ‘Schitt’s Creek’ finale brought happy endings for its characters
Fans of Schitt’s Creek were devastated to learn the sixth season would be the last one. But, ultimately, the show and the cast had a phenomenal run. The series finale, appropriately titled “Happy Ending,” saw the Rose family completing their journeys and leaving the titular town behind.
The emotional episode revolved around David (Dan Levy) and Patrick’s (Noah Reid) wedding. Despite terrible weather and Alexis (Murphy) wearing a bride’s gown to her brother’s wedding, the sentimental ceremony...

[Editor’s note: The following story contains spoilers for “Bones and All.”]
When David Kajganich was first presented with Camille DeAngelis’ novel “Bones and All,” the screenwriter didn’t initially realize the cannibal romance was intended for YA readers. Instead, the “Blood Creek” and “A Bigger Splash” writer was taken with the book’s fairytale quality, the wonderful romance at its heart, and its ability to interrogate “other”-ness in an entirely new way.
It was also, of course, fairly juicy — literally and figuratively — and ripe for the screenwriter to apply his own ideas. It helped that Kajganich’s frequent collaborator, director Luca Guadagnino, came on board to direct the film, bringing along stars Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet to play the love-crossed young cannibals at its center. After debuting at Venice, earning accolades on the festival circuit, and enjoying a very tasty opening weekend in limited release, “Bones and All” arrives in wide release this week.

Tracy Letts’ The Minutes would be one of the most thrilling new plays on Broadway this season even if recent real-life events hadn’t made it seem as uncanny as it is funny and, ultimately, disarming. The Minutes – there are a brisk 90 of them in all – begins as one thing and ends up quite another, and every step along the way is so finely rendered that we’re too busy savoring the moment to see what’s waiting just ahead.
Featuring an impeccable cast headed by Noah Reid – the Schitt’s Creek star makes a wonderful Broadway debut here – The Minutes reunites playwright and cast member Letts with his August: Osage County director Anna D. Shapiro, and together they find once again the eccentric, perfect balance of laugh-out-loud humor, dark undercurrents and emotional violence that made the prize-winning August unforgettable.

Over a steady period of 55 years, Grammy, Emmy, and honorary Oscar winner Steve Martin has proven himself a consummate entertainer with countless TV and film credits. Even so, it took 28 years for him to earn recognition from his peers in the Screen Actors Guild. Now the 76-year-old is a SAG Awards contender at last with individual and ensemble nominations for the comedy series “Only Murders in the Building,” making him the oldest first-time nominee across all three male solo TV categories.

The Broadway production of Tracy Letts’ The Minutes is delaying its performance dates by two weeks this spring. The play, starring Schitt’s Creek actor Noah Reid, Letts, Blair Brown, Jessie Mueller and others, will now begin previews at Studio 54 on April 2, with opening night set for April 17.
The previous dates were about two weeks earlier.
Though the production has not indicated a reason for the delay, other shows have initiated similar spring delays due to the recent Omicron surge and its impact on rehearsal schedules, among other things.
The Minutes had already begun previews in spring 2020 when the Covid pandemic shutdown hit. At the time, the play was staged at the Cort Theatre. A planned renovation prompted the production’s move to the Studio 54 venue.
Also during the production’s hiatus, original star Armie Hammer withdrew amidst sexual misconduct allegations. Reid was later cast in the role.

“I would never point a gun at anyone and then pull the trigger. Never.”
Alec Baldwin has said in his first TV interview that he did not pull the trigger of the gun that shot Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on a New Mexico set in October.

From "Ew, David" to "Ouch, David" real quick. Over the course of the show's five year run, Schitt's Creek fans welcomed the Rose family into their living rooms and grew to absolutely adore them, flaws and all. But with the incredible success of the show came some downfalls, as, by season six of the multi-Emmy Award winning series, creator and star Dan Levy had to wear a neck brace due to stress, which seems to have been simply the worst. In an interview with GQ for their "Heroes Issue," Levy opened up about the stress that came along with the show. "The anxiety in my neck was so bad I couldn't move it." recalled Levy. "At one point there was an...

This is not Zeb Wells’ first time in a comic book writers’ room. It’s not even his first time breaking Spider-Man stories as part of a team. The big difference with this one is that hopefully no children get eaten on his watch.
“I deserve that,” the new Amazing Spider-Man lead writer chuckles when we compare this new team project to “Shed,” the critically acclaimed, impossibly bleak story he wrote back when Peter Parker was in the middle of his “Brand New Day” era that saw the Lizard return and promptly eat his son.
There’s a lot different this time with the new status quo unrolling in “Beyond,” starting with Spidey himself. The premise of the new run of Amazing Spider-Man has Ben Reilly becoming Spider-Man after the copyright for the character is swiped from under Peter by the Beyond Corporation.
And then there’s the creative team surrounding Wells.

An Emmys ceremony like no other — held in a tent during a pandemic — was sure to deliver surprising moments, and the 2021 edition of TV’s biggest night did not disappoint in that regard.
73rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards: Deadline’s Full Coverage
The show opened with sort of feel-good In Memoriam singalong, with host Cedric the Entertainer launching into a revamped version of the recently-passed Biz Markie‘s “Just a Friend.” LL Cool J picked up the tune before handing it off to Rita Wilson, Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross and many others.
Hannah Waddingham kept the energy level high when she won for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Ted Lasso. Despite the fact that presenter Seth Rogen got her name wrong, the actress screamed with joy as she took the stage, thanking co-stars Jason Sudeikis and Juno Temple. “I’m so proud to even be in your gaggle,...

The first in-person Emmys Awards show since the dawn of the pandemic was almost certainly going to be a celebration no matter the quality of the show. Thankfully, CBS and the show’s producers put together an event that brought a truly welcome sense of awards ceremony normalcy — warts and all — that has been conspicuously missing in recent years.

It appears that Schitt’s Creek walked so that Ted Lasso could run as the Apple TV+ comedy pulled a near-full sweep in the 2021 Emmys comedy categories. While some wins were sure bets, others were something of a surprise as the annual event kicked off on CBS. Starting off the night was an exciting victory for Hannah Waddingham who beat out her Ted Lasso costar Juno Temple for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy series. (Credit: Cliff Lipson/CBS) Brett Goldstein pulled off an unexpected win, beating out his costars and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series nominees Jeremy Swift, Nick Mohammed, and Brendan Hunt. As the evening went on, the series did lose out in writing and directing categories to HBO Max’s Hacks, but it didn’t put a damper on the show’s success. Highly-predicted Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Comedy Series wins...

A year after winning four Primetime Emmys for the hit comedy series Schitt’s Creek, Dan Levy has closed a first look feature deal and an overall one in scripted content with Netflix, under which he’ll write and produce.
Levy’s work in film will begin promptly with an original untitled romantic comedy which he’ll direct, write, produce and star in. Sister’s Stacey Snider and Kate Fenske will also produce alongside Levy. The multi-hyphenate’s work in series will start in July 2022 when his current three-year overall deal with ABC Signature ends.
“Netflix offered Schitt’s Creek a second home at just the right time and opened the doors to a whole new audience for us,” said Levy, “Watching the show thrive there has only enhanced my excitement about continuing to tell specific, meaningful stories with them in both tv and feature film. A full circle moment.”

Crack open one of Herb Ertlinger's fruit wines, as Dan Levy has officially arrived at the 2021 Met Gala. While this year's theme for Fashion's biggest night is "Celebrating In America: A Lexicon Of Fashion," the Schitt's Creek co-creator seems to have a message for the world on his red carpet ensemble. It’s a bad day for everyone who only discovered “Dawson’s Creek” in recent years and had gotten married to the idea that Jann Arden’s “Run Like Mad” was the theme song for the 1998-2003 teen television series. For all of the show’s other fans, apart from that tiny, tiny sliver, it’s a good day, as Paula Cole has been restored to the opening credits and the world set aright.

Last year Dan Levy won four — yes, four! — Emmy Awards for producing, writing, directing and acting in “Schitt’s Creek.” Now the 37-year-old multi-hyphenate is back in the Emmy rotation again thanks to his hosting gig on “Saturday Night Live,” for which he earned his first nomination in the Best Comedy Guest Actor category. Might residual love for Pop TV’s dearly departed comedy series push Levy back into the Emmy winner’s circle for “SNL”?

Many award juggernaut shows like Succession, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Insecure, Better Call Saul, Stranger Things, Ozark and What We Do in the Shadows will be missing from the 2021 Emmy Award nominations and it’s not because they aren’t deserving. In order to be eligible for a statuette in 2021, episodes must have aired between June 1, 2020, and May 31, 2021. The ongoing pandemic played a major role in production stoppages and delays which in turn shifted premiere dates in line with Deadline’s prediction the fallout would linger into the new year. Emmy darling The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel began production in late January many months after its intended start date of spring/summer 2020 due to the coronavirus delays. January was the Amazon Prime Video dramedy’s intended season 4 debut which would’ve put them in that necessary eligibility window. To date, Mrs. Maisel has earned a total of 54 nominations and 20 Emmy wins across three seasons.
