Exclusive: Emmy Award-winning actor Joe Morton and Catherine Tate have joined the Fox Entertainment comedy series Going Dutch cast in heavily recurring roles opposite series star and executive producer Denis Leary.
The single-cam comedy follows arrogant loudmouth U.S. Army “Colonel Patrick Quinn” (Leary), who after an epically unfiltered rant, is reassigned to the Netherlands, where he is punished with a command position at the least important army base in the world. After serving with distinction in every warzone of the last three decades, he now finds himself in charge of a base with no guns, no weapons, and no tactical purpose.
Instead, it has a Michelin-star level commissary, top-notch bowling alley, and the best (and only) fromagerie in the U.S. Army. Surrounded by a diverse group of underdogs, the colonel tries to reinstall military discipline and professionalism with the help...

She’s perhaps best known for her turn as David Tennant’s companion Donna in “Doctor Who” (a role she’ll reprise on screen this fall) but, for her latest project, Catherine Tate has swapped the Tardis for tiaras. Titled “Queen of Oz,” the new BBC comedy sees Tate play a disgraced British princess who is sent Down Under after screwing up one too many royal engagements.
In the show, Tate plays Princess Georgiana who, after yet another public catastrophe (involving a school visit and plenty of alcohol-induced vomit), is banished to Australia. Tate says she was attracted by the “fish out of water” concept but, despite many royal-related headlines in recent years, is keen to point out that no real royals inspired Georgiana’s character. “I wasn’t thinking of anyone, because it’s nice to create something from scratch,” says the comedian, who co-wrote and stars in the series.

Returning to the beloved character from her early ‘00s sketch comedy show “The Catherine Tate Show” — and the spinoff series “Catherine Tate’s Nan” — the simply titled “The Nan Movie” continues the hijinks of the elderly Joanie Taylor (aka Nan). A loudmouth cockney woman who always speaks her mind, often to the embarrassment of her grandson Jamie (Matthew Horne), Tate’s feature film is a curious object.

Exclusive: Doctor Who star Catherine Tate’s Netflix comedy Hard Cell is a tonal shift from her previous work, according to exec Kristian Smith, who revealed the mockumentary’s producer Leopard Pictures is working on a feature film adaptation of a Michael Morpurgo novel.
Hard Cell, which drops today, features a fake documentary crew following the inmates and staff of Hmp Woldsley, with beloved UK comedy star Tate portraying multiple characters to capture the British penal system at its brutal and humorous best.
Smith told Deadline the six-parter is a departure from Tate’s previous work such as the BBC’s The Catherine Tate Show and said it is unique in the TV landscape.
“There’s real pathos to this, it’s proper storytelling” he added. “The show is laugh out loud funny and everything people love about Catherine is there but you will see moments of great tragedy, real...

She embarks on a roadtrip to Ireland with her grandson to make amends with her estranged sister. Catherine Tate stars, reprising her role as the "foul mouthed pensioner", with Matthew Horne,...

We might have only had one season, plus a couple of specials, of David Tennant and Catherine Tate’s amazing chemistry as the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble on screen, but thankfully the two Doctor Who icons have been giving us new adventures for the duo over the past few years, since they started making audio dramas for Big Finish Productions.
Following a couple of boxsets of The Tenth Doctor Adventures, the latest release featuring the pair is Donna Noble: Kidnapped, a spinoff series focusing on Tate’s companion. Set following 2008’s “Forest of the Dead,” when Donna is taking a break from her time travels, Tate’s co-lead in this collection of four stories is her former The Catherine Tate Show co-star Niki Wardley. However, Tennant will pop up for a brief cameo in the final adventure.

10 years ago, David Tennant and Catherine Tate travelled around time and space together as the Doctor and his best friend Donna Noble on Doctor Who. Now, they’re reuniting for a new comedy series from Sky.
Titled The Americons (that’s not a typo), the scripted sitcom sees Tennant and Tate play a British couple who move to the United States. That’s all we know about the premise for now, but we’d hazard a guess that there’s some sort of con involved as well, at least going by that title.
Tate is set to write the series in addition to starring in it, while Americons is being produced by Bad Wolf Productions, which is actually run by two former Doctor Who producers, Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter. The company’s name comes from a long-running story arc on the sci-fi show, in fact.

Doctor Why Him?
It’s always a delight to see a famous/infamous part go to a familiar actor. When I watched Season 3′s “The Runaway Bride,” my roommate prefaced it by saying that Catherine Tate was a Hugely popular comedienne in Britain and her appearance on the show was thrilling, exhilarating, even a little scary. Now that I have watched The Catherine Tate Show, I have an understanding of why that might be.
The same holds true for Peter Capaldi. I’m sure that some people in the audience were clapping just because they respected that he was taking on such an important role, but there had to be Vicar of Dibley fans and people who loved to hear Malcolm Tucker spew the f-word every few seconds in The Thick of It. I personally got excited because he was one of the major players in my favorite Whoverse serials: Torchwood: Children of Earth.

This is Weide’s first UK series. He’ll write and direct all six episodes of Mr. Sloane with Aschlin Ditta (The Catherine Tate Show) and Oliver Lansley (Whites) as co-writers on two episodes. It's a slow time in the TV season. Most shows aren't airing new episodes this week, though, even if they were, many of us are still digging our ways out of postholiday funks. It's a Netflix week is what we're saying. Luckily, in the last few weeks, a ton of stuff has either made its way or made its way back to ye olde Instant Netflix. Here are some recently Instant-able picks for your perusal. (And duh, still watch West Wing.) British Shows A tonne — har, har — of British shows just reappeared: On the sketch front, the always strange Little Britain, the essential Stephen Fry/Hugh Laurie collaboration A Bit of Fry and Laurie, and The Catherine Tate show are all back. Sitcom-wise, Gavin & Stacey, Coupling, and all eight seasons of the sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf are also back from Instant purgatory. Pretty much everything in the BBC catalogue...

Since Una Stubbs's film debut half a century ago, she's never been out of work. With a string of memorable TV series to her name, from Till Death Do Us Part to Sherlock, how does she feel now about her return to the National theatre stage at 75?
Una Stubbs can't quite believe she's being interviewed. "So who else are you speaking to from this production?" she asks when we meet backstage at the National Theatre. No one, I tell her. Just you. Behind her round-framed spectacles, Stubbs's eyes widen anxiously. "Oh," she says, brow crinkling. "Really?"
You might expect Una Stubbs to be more convinced by her own reputation. At 75, she has starred in some of the most memorable television programmes of the past four decades (Till Death Us Do Part, Give Us a Clue, Worzel Gummidge, Sherlock) and been directed on stage by such theatrical luminaries as Sir Peter Hall and Michael Grandage.

Catherine Tate may be joining the cast of NBC's The Office as a series regular, it has been reported. Tate, known in the UK for roles on The Catherine Tate Show and Doctor Who, appeared as boss Nellie Bertram in the second half of the comedy's latest season. A source told TVLine that Tate is poised to return to the ninth season as a full castmember, though no official announcement has been made. Show stars including John Krasinski, Rainn (more)...

Merlin continues to surprise, and now that we’re underway on the fourth season, it’s a great time to look back and/or catch up on events in Camelot. The third season DVD set is as surprisingly well put together as the show itself, and considering the overall production, budget, and general possibilities inherent in the beast we’ve got, you could hardly ask for a better release.
While not exactly overloaded with special features, it includes cast and crew commentaries, which fans will love, and a pretty solid Making Of featurette.
For all that the show is something of a write-off, and all too simple to dismiss for many a viewer, the third season kicks things up a notch, and the writing is often surprising. As may be easily guessed, the rub of the show is dealing with its general premise – the fact that Merlin has to hide...

If you're still bummed that Catherine Tate wasn't chosen as the new boss on "The Office," the show has a consolation prize for you: She'll return this season. Tate's character, Nellie Bertram, appeared in last season's finale to interview for Michael Scott's former position. She returns as a "corporate special projects manager, and her relationship with Robert California [played by James Spader] will be far from professional," executive producer Paul Lieberstein said. She will join in the second half of the season. Tate's credits include the BBC series, "The Catherine Tate Show," in...

"The Office" is about to get another taste of Tate. BAFTA nominee Catherine Tate (star of BBC’s enigmatically titled "The Catherine Tate Show") is returning to the NBC comedy this season, reprising her role as Nellie Bertram. Bertram is hired by Dundler-Mifflin Chairman of the Board Jo Bennett (Kathy Bates) as a favored special projects manager who works directly for the corporate office, enjoying special attention from Bennett. Tate's character was introduced last season as one of the candidates interviewing for the vacant Regional Manager position, after Michael Scott (Steve Carell) left the company. "Catherine is hysterical," said executive producer Paul...

Filming started today in Enfield on a brand new six part comedy for Sky called Gates, a character based sitcom based around relationships formed between parents at the school gates.
Tom Ellis and Joanna Page play parents Mark and Helen who’ve recently moved to the South East where their nine-year-old daughter is starting at a new primary school. And they’re about to discover what happens when your children choose your friends.
Essentially a character comedy, but with a nod to those sketch-like moments of madness which can only ever happen in the playground, Gates casts an eye on how relationships with parents formed during fifteen minutes of a school drop off and pick up can so easily take over your life. The school gates can be an unforgiving, socially exposed political minefield.
Gates boasts a distinguished cast that also includes:
Sue Johnston (The Royle Family, Waking The Dead), Tony Gardner (Lead Balloon,...

Chances are, Catherine Tate isn't a household name in your home ... yet.
However, reports indicate the English actress is the frontrunner to join NBC's 'The Office' as the new boss.
Tate will make her 'Office' debut on tonight's one-hour season finale (Thurs., May 19, 9Pm Et). She's one of many famous faces -- including Ray Romano, Warren Buffett, Jim Carrey, Will Arnett, Ricky Gervais and James Spader -- vying for the job vacated by Steve Carell's Michael Scott.
Yep, that's a lot of big names, so why is Tate right for the job? Simple: She's pretty damn funny.
The star of her own series, 'The Catherine Tate Show,' Tate has won several BAFTAs and was nominated for an International Emmy.

The new boss at Dunder Mifflin may be the season finale guest star with whom Americans are least familiar.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show's producers want British star Catherine Tate to be Steve Carell/Michael Scott's longterm replacement -- he just left the show after seven seasons. Tate is one of a number of major guest stars set for Thursday night's season finale, which will see a laundry list of candidates hoping to take the reigns now that Will Ferrell/Deangelo Vickers' brief arc and Dwight Schrute's even briefer reign have ended.
According to a tweet from the star/writer Mindy Kaling, Tate will play a character named Nellie Bertrum. She's a well known comedic force in Britain; she has her own sketch series, "The Catherine Tate Show," and has appeared in "Doctor Who."

THR is reporting that Jim Carrey is going to be making a cameo appearance in the finale of season seven of The Office over in the States. If memory serves, this will be Carrey’s first television role in well over a decade, since his part(s) in the ’90s TV series, In Living Color, created by Keenen Ivory Wayans, and starring no less than five of the Wayans family (Keenen included), Jamie Foxx, and Jennifer Lopez.
For most people, myself included, Jim Carrey is a comedy genius, and there’s no doubt that he’ll be a brilliant addition to the already high-profile line-up of guest stars for the season finale. He’ll be joining Ricky Gervais (naturally from the British original), Will Ferrell (Anchorman), James Spader (Boston Legal), Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond), Catherine Tate (The Catherine Tate Show), and one of my all-time favourite actors on television,...

Three more actors to add to the “who will replace Steve Carell on The Office” list: word has come out that Catherine Tate, James Spader, and Ray Romano will all be appearing the season finale. With the already announced Ricky Gervais and Will Arnett appearances, that makes five possible successors to the Michael Scott throne. But screw all those other guys! Give it to Tate, NBC. Now, it's entirely possible you don't know who Tate is, especially if you're not from the UK or into aliens that travel through time and space. (That is a Doctor Who reference. I can't say for sure if Tate is an alien or not, nor can I speak of her hobbies.) So, a quick primer: her sketch comedy show, The Catherine Tate Show, has been nominated for six BAFTAs, she played quite possibly the best companion of the revived [...]...

Three years ago on St. Patrick's Day we presented ten Irish men we'd love to share a shamrock shake with, and the list (Colin Farrell, Pierce Brosnan, Bono, Jonathan Rhys Myers, Stuart Townsend, Liam Neeson, Aidan Quinn, Cillian Murphy, Daniel-Day Lewis, and Ronan Keating) turned out to be a "Greatest Hits" of irish hotness.
We thought it was time for an update, so we're giving you ten more Irish guys we'd love to go brogue with! Okay, that was terrible, but don't let that stop you from perusing these pots o' gold!
Mark Feehily
On our first list we featured hot Irish boybander Ronan Keating, which was a difficult decision considering there are approximately 1,753 hot Irish boybanders.
For instance, Westlife singer Mark Feehily, who's not only hot and Irish, but openly gay, and engaged to Kevin McDaid, who is also hot, a former boybander, but strangely ... not Irish.

David Tennant and Catherine Tate are set to star in a new West End production of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, beginning performances at Wyndham's Theatre May 16, prior to an official opening June 1, for a run lasting through September 3. Tennant, who will play Benedick, was last seen on the London stage in the title role of the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Hamlet, opposite Sir Patrick Stewart. Tennant is best known for his time on "Doctor Who", but his extensive prior stage credits include seasons with the RSC, for whom he has appeared in As You Like It, The Comedy of Errors, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Love's Labour's Lost in addition to Hamlet.

Charlotte Church is one of the UK’s most successful, talented and beloved young performers. A Welsh icon, classical and contemporary songstress and mainstream television hostess, she continues to entertain audiences across the world with her glowing, natural charm and burgeoning talent.
Born in Cardiff in 1986, Charlotte first came to the nation’s attention in 1997 aged 11 when she sang Pie Jesu (written by Andrew Lloyd Webber) over the telephone on the television show This Morning, followed by a performance on ITV’s Big, Big Talent Show.
Only a year later she became an international sensation with the release of her debut album Voice Of An Angel in 1998. Showcasing her unique vocals across a collection of arias, hymns and traditional pieces, it sold over four million copies worldwide and made her the youngest artist ever with a No. 1 album. It also propelled her to double platinum success in both the UK and USA.

London -- Sky director of programming Stuart Murphy has appointed BBC comedy executive Lucy Lumsden to be its first dedicated head of comedy, working across Sky's three entertainment channels Sky1, Sky2 and Sky3.
Lumsden, currently controller of comedy commissioning at the BBC, has brought such hits as "Gavin and Stacey" and "The Catherine Tate Show" to BBC audiences, and was described by Murphy as "simply the best commissioner in the comedy business."
The heavyweight appointment signals a new direction for Sky's entertainment channels, which have traditionally focused on acquired comedy rather than home-grown fare.
"Comedy takes time to get right, and it's an art not a science, but with Lucy at the helm it feels like we are giving ourselves the best chance of generating hits which our subscribers will love," said Murphy.

London -- Shine chairman and CEO Elisabeth Murdoch is stepping back from the day-to-day running of Shine Prods. to focus on developing opportunities across the Shine portfolio of companies.
Effective Oct. 6, Jamie Munro, formerly commercial director and senior vp international productions at Tiger Aspect, will run the commercial side of the business, reporting to Shine Group president Alex Mahon.
Shine programs director Karen Smith, meanwhile, has been promoted to run creative operations and will report to Murdoch.
The move will free up Murdoch and Mahon "to devote time evenly across the Shine Group of companies," which include Reveille, Kudos, Princess Prods. and distribution arm Shine Reveille International, the company said Thursday.
Under the new structure, director of production Joe McLusky and John Gilbert, Shine TV director of legal and business affairs, who reported to Mahon, now will report to Munro.
Munro, a seasoned factual and reality executive who has worked on both sides of the Atlantic, will be charged with growing and evolving Shine's TV portfolio.
Before joining Tiger Aspect in 2005, Munro spent 12 years at the BBC and BBC Worldwide, contributing to such international commercial successes as "Life of Mammals," "What Not to Wear" and "Strictly Come Dancing," on which he first worked with Smith, then an executive producer at the BBC.
Munro also was part of the team that set up the BBC's New York production office and successfully sold and launched "Dancing With the Stars" to ABC. At Tiger Aspect, he exploited the commercial potential of such hits as "Robin Hood," "The Catherine Tate Show" and "The Vicar of Dibley" and launched international formats like "Make Me a Supermodel."
Since being launched by Murdoch seven years ago, Shine has grown through acquisitions from a relatively modest U.K. production house to an international player on both sides of the Atlantic. Shine recently announced plans for a move into feature films via last month's launch of movie division Shine Pictures in partnership with New Regency.
The new offshoot, designed to put Shine on a bigger stage, will be overseen by Murdoch and run on a day-to-day basis by Kudos execs Stephen Garrett and Paul Webster -- the team behind such hits as "Spooks" and "Life on Mars."...
