After a no-brainer Dlc crossover with Lovecraftian fishing sim Dredge that was released last year, Mintrocket’s Dave the Diver is pulling another no-brainer with its next Dlc: bringing the King of the Monsters himself, Godzilla, into the game as a free Dlc. Available now, the Dlc adds Godzilla-related content to Dave the Diver, along with some tweaks and bug fixes.
The story goes that G-Force has been following Godzilla, leading them to the depths of the Blue Hole. While doing his diving thing, Dave is confronted with Godzilla, injured and recovering from his wounds. It’s not long before one of Godzilla’s foes, the mutated crustacean Ebirah, shows up to cause trouble.
The Godzilla Dlc adds three new missions that centre around the kaiju himself, along with new dishes inspired by Godzilla and Ebirah. You can also collect Godzilla figures that have been scattered throughout the ocean.

“The Masked Singer” host Nick Cannon has tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus, which means he won’t be seen in at least the first few episodes of the hit Fox reality series’ fifth season. Instead, producers have tapped actress and host Niecy Nash to fill in.
Nash will take over as guest host as production begins this Thursday on Season 5 of “The Masked Singer,” and until Cannon is ready to get back to work. Cannon is currently in quarantine and resting, a rep for the star confirms exclusively to Variety. Fox expects Cannon to return to the series later in the season.
Season 5 of “The Masked Singer” is scheduled to premiere in March. Returning to the show as usual are panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke.
The celebrity musical guessing game wrapped Season 4 in December as TV’s No. 1 entertainment series, tied with NBC’s “This Is Us.

At some point in the distant future, long after nuclear holocaust or airborne plague has wiped out the human race, some film critic will no doubt uncover a list of the projects Nicolas Cage has turned down, and it will finally become clear how the actor determined the course of his career.
For about a dozen years, from mid-’90s Bruck-buster “The Rock” through family hamster-tainment “G-Force,” it has seemed that the ka-ching of a cash register must have been the deciding factor, but in the dozen years since, a pattern has emerged that Cage isn’t merely cashing checks but may in fact be shaping the world’s most eccentric filmography by design.
Proof positive is his agreement to make “Prisoners of the Ghostland” with Japan’s resident weird-meister Sion Sono — a revolving position that amounts to being the unofficial poet laureate of extreme psychosexual shlock, one that’s...

Yesterday I wrote up on the names of films and TV shows that would be leaving Netflix over the month of March. Now, the circle of life streaming services dictates that today I bring you the names of films and TV shows that will be joining the new kid on the block, Disney Plus. Some of these titles will be familiar to those who read the previous piece, too, and they at least start out easily recognizable.
March 1 – Doctor Doolittle 2, Ice Age (everybody knows what they are). March 4 – Black Panther (ex-Netters). March 5 – Bedtime Stories (getting obscurer). March 6 – The Finest Hours, Three on the Run (completely lost now).
This is where things get messy, as we’ve got a whole bunch of TV stuff that I doubt anyone is subscribing to Disney Plus for, except… maybe Star Wars: The Clone Wars? Some people are into that, for some reason. Anyway, if...

Watch Tom Cruise and the Top Gun: Maverick cast take you to the Danger Zone in new behind-the-scenes footage of how it was filmed.
When Top Gun came out in 1986, it changed the way summer blockbusters were made and inspired a whole new aesthetic for how the U.S. military was shot—often at sunset and in silhouette. One could charitably suggest Michael Bay took his whole color palette from that movie. Yet much has changed since Tom Cruise last stepped foot in the cockpit, particularly Cruise himself. No longer a spring chicken, Top Gun: Maverick marks Cruise’s first legacy sequel to a previous classic. But what’s also changed is Cruise’s increased dedication to stunts… including in jets.

“Avengers: Endgame” directors Joe and Anthony Russo will produce an adaptation of the indie comic “GrimJack” and develop a live-action version of the classic cartoon “Battle of the Planets,” the duo announced at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.
Both projects will be developed through their Agbo banner. They will not direct “GrimJack” however, they might direct the “Battle of the Planets” movie. No screenwriter is currently attached to write “Battle of the Planets,” with Joe Russo adding the project is “very early days.” Both projects join their previously announced titles “Cherry,” which stars “Spider-Man” headliner Tom Holland, and a reboot of “The Thomas Crown Affair” with Michael B. Jordan.
Both “GrimJack” and “Battle of the Planets” are passion projects for both the brothers from when they were younger. “I would race home from school just to watch this at 4p.m.,” added Anthony Russo who stood up and showed off...

During director Joe and Anthony Russo’s Hall H panel today they announced two new film projects they are developing based on existing properties. The are producing a live-action adaptation of the comic book GrimJack, and they are also producing and possibly directing a live-action adaptation of the classic animated series Battle of the Planets!
They were huge fans of these properties growing up, and they joked that they are looking at buying all of the IP’s for their favorite things as kids so that they can bring them back for fans and new audiences.

3D was supposed to be the next big thing for cinema. It accounts for just 20% of ticket sales. What went wrong?
In early 2010, James Cameron's Avatar became the USA's 24th most successful cinema release of all time, and it still holds that position today.
I'm measuring that success by the actual number of tickets sold, but perhaps you prefer the way the Hollywood hype machine processes these things. Their version of how this works, in which records can be broken over and over again for a continual stream of back-slaps and headlines, makes Avatar into The Biggest Film of All Time. Don't adjust for inflation but just sum up the numbers on the tickets, and it's true, Avatar is certainly the highest grossing film to ever see the inside of a cinema.
Either way, whether it's top of the pops or holding on strong at number...

August 6th and 9th, 1945 forever changed the course of history. When the first nuclear bombs were dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, World War II ended, but a new fear was born that dominated the thoughts of all men, women, and children for decades to come. The Cold War, atomic bomb testing, a cartoon turtle telling children to “duck and cover”, and this new technology that had the actual potential to literally end the world changed the perception of what was scary. Art reflects life, so cinema began to capitalize on these fears. Gone were the days of creepy castles, cobwebs, bats, vampires, werewolves, and the other iconic images that ruled genre cinema in film’s earliest decades. On January 20th, 1975, Steven Spielberg and Universal Studios released Jaws. The movie landscape would be forever changed from that date. Jaws is widely credited as being the first blockbuster film because it was the first movie to make over $100 million (non-adjusted). The fact that the film had a meager $8 million budget meant that it was a huge cash cow for the studio and rocketed Spielberg to the the forefront of a new generation of filmmakers for a new era of movie mass-consumption. Confession: I think Nicolas Cage is a great actor. And not just because of Oscar-quality performances like those in Adaptation and Leaving Las Vegas. No, the movie that introduced me to Cage’s gifts was National Treasure. And while Cage did return to the big screen for a sequel, the series deserves to become an even bigger franchise.
The National Treasure movies were made in the wake of Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code, an immensely popular, thrilling, if not particularly well-written novel about conspiracy theories and mini-art history lessons. National Treasure is the American Da Vinci Code—and...

The Nut Job
Directed by: Peter Lepeniotis
Cast: Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, Katherine Heigl, Liam Neeson
Running Time: 1 hr 26 mins
Rating: PG
Release Date: January 17, 2014
Plot: Rogue squirrel Surly (Arnett) discovers a nut shop that is also the front for an underground bank robbery.
Who’S It For? With its key demographics having already seen Frozen, the film may provide decent satiation for its crowd, but without any rich spectacle, only its animal-talking zaniness to carry it through an ironically turgid running time.
Overall
Looking back on the moment, it was probably intended by the Nut Job filmmakers that my Saturday morning screening of The Nut Job began with the image presented inescapably out of focus, in need of a restart that would repeat the film’s first five minutes. Even through squinted eyes, forever damaged by not being able to experience 3D even with the glasses on due to the film’s presentation itself,...

Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer have opted not to renew their first-look deal, which will expire next year. The Disney-Bruckheimer relationship goes back to the 1990s, and marks one of the most successful Hollywood partnerships of the last two decades. It might have continued, thanks to such deluxe franchises as "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "National Treasure," but this train wreck was inevitable following Bruckheimer's recent pricey flops, from "Prince of Persia," "G-Force," and "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" to "The Lone Ranger," which could yield as much as a $190 million write-off for the studio. Where once the studio relied on Bruckheimer as their go-to tentpole producer, now after such big buys as Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm, they just don't need him anymore. He has enjoyed a very rich deal all these years; he's expensive. Bruckheimer will still produce one-offs for Disney, although the sequel to "Pirates of the Caribbean" has been...

After several decades together, The Walt Disney Co and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are parting ways.
In an official statement from Disney, the studio has announced that it and Bruckheimer have decided not to renew their current deal which gives Disney first-look rights to the producer's films.
The pair will continue working together on various projects, including a fifth installment in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise due for release in 2016.
The statement suggests another "National Treasure" film might eventually be in the works, while Bruckheimer himself is: "looking to produce more mature films outside the scope of the Disney brand."
The deal, which began in the 1990s, has yielded over two dozen films including major hits like "Crimson Tide," "Dangerous Minds," "The Rock," "Con Air," "Gone in 60 Seconds," "Remember the Titans," "Armageddon," "Enemy of the State," "Pearl Harbor," "National Treasure," "Deja Vu," "G-Force" and the four "Pirates of the Caribbean" films.

In 2 weeks, you will be seeing tons of content from one of the best genre film festivals in North America, Fantastic Fest. Held in Austin, TX, Fantastic Fest is a orgasmic wave of sci-fi, horror, crime and foreign film. We have been lucky enough to be attending since 2010 and this year, I plan on giving you the most coverage I can. There will be daily video recorded and published on the site in addition to interviews and reviews. Today, the final wave and closing night film was announced. Every year, Fantastic Fest tends to have side events/parties that tie into the Opening & Closing Night films and given the content, I can’t wait to see what they come up with. The closing night film is the North American Premiere of Terry Gilliam’s The Zero Theorem.
Without further ado, here is the official press release with a full list of films that were added.

When I met Sam Rockwell, he struck me as simultaneously cordial and aloof. It's almost as if he was saying, "You're only going to get a fraction of who I really am, but I'm going to give that part to you with 100 percent conviction." Which seemed fair enough, considering (a) we were strangers and (b) promotional interviews are among the most awkward experiences in existence.
Then, for whatever reason, things changed. Rockwell moved closer to me on the couch and the look on his face changed from "When can I leave this hotel and enjoy my life like a normal person?" to "I am now engaged in this conversation." I've interviewed Rockwell once before, but this is the conversation I've always wanted to have with him -- an actor I consider one of the most interesting and hardest-working in the business today.

The Croods
Directed by: Kirk De Micco, Chris Sanders
Cast: (voices of) Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke, Cloris Leachman
Running Time: 1 hrs 38 mins
Rating: PG
Release Date: March 22, 2013
Plot: After their safe haven cave is destroyed, a prehistoric family (Stone, Cage, Keener, Duke, Leachman) ventures across new terrain to find a new home with a fellow human (Reynolds) as their guide.
Who’S It For? This is the first movie in a while that’s actually for families of various age groups. It’s not too dumb for adults, and it’s not too scary for younger family members.
Expectations: While I do try to be as neutral as possible on all films I get to see, I can’t say I was walking too fast to get to this screening. What kind of humor could an animated caveman comedy offer? How many jokes about...

Ever since Neil Burger became attached to helm Uncharted well over a year ago there hasn’t been much movement on bringing the game to the big screen. With that lack of development, it comes to no surprise that, according to Variety, Burger has left the project. The reason for Burger’s departure is unclear, although it was reported hours before this news the Limitless director may adapt Divergent for Summit. Unfortunately, Burger isn’t the only loss the project has faced today, as screenwriting duo Cormac and Marianne Wibberley have signed on to handle scripting duties. For those of you unfamiliar with the Wibberley’s writings, they worked on The Shaggy Dog, I Spy, The 6th Day, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, and, of course, Disney’s hamster epic, G-Force. There’s not a whole lot of impressive adventure in those films to prove they can handle Uncharted, but the duo was most likely hired because...

It's all change again on videogame adventure adaptation Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, with new writers arriving and another director departing. As you may have surmised from the news elsewhere here this morning, Neil Burger has left Uncharted behind, with a view to directing Summit Entertainment's Divergent instead. But coming through the revolving door in the other direction are Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, who'll be taking a new pass at the screenplay. The Wibberleys wrote the Schwarzenegger vehicle The Sixth Day; Charlie's Angels sequel Full Throttle; I, Spy, with Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson, and the animated guinea pig shenanigans of G-Force. They also recently took a crack at the Highlander remake, but their most relevant experience for Uncharted is on the National Treasure films, both of which globe-trotting, loot-hunting Nic Cage adventures they penned for Jerry Bruckheimer. The Uncharted series, should you be unaware, is a globe-trotting, loot-hunting set of...

A couple months ago Alex Zemke debuted some artwork from an upcoming Portal animated film, called Companionship, which is based on the popular video game series, that he is developing. I recently had the chance to take Alex away from his busy schedule and got him to open up about his work on the animated film.
Of course, Portal: Companionship isn't the only thing Alex has worked on. His previous credits include animation work on The Smurfs, G-Force, and on the video game side of things; Killzone 3, and the Uncharted series. He's apparently also worked on something that he's not allowed to tell me about...yet. Either way, the man knows what he's doing and virtually set the Internet on fire when word of his Portal animation spread.
Jordan (Tmp): What inspired you to take on a Portal animation/film in the first place?
Alex: Well initially it wasn't a short at all!

This is one of those times being a geek, a collector and a fan can really come in handy. When Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine from Relic/Thq came out we covered it’s release. It got me thinking back to 1987 and the launch of the Role Playing game. I bought the copy of White Dwarf which heralded the launch of the new game and the universe that had been carefully crafted. That’s when I first encountered the amazing work of Wil Madoc Rees.
So after playing this latest incarnation I went back to my attic and dug out that issue. I then hunted out Wil. He’s now living in California and working in Hollywood. He’s easy to talk with and it’s been a pleasure to hook-up with such a talented artist; one who’s visual concept work has helped shape some of cinemas recent biggest block busters.

Blame Cowboys & Aliens. When Disney ditched (or postponed) Gore Verbinski's pricey $250 million Johnny Depp remake of The Lone Ranger, set to shoot in New Mexico in October, the studio wasn't just applying the brakes to runaway costs. It was also just saying no to billion dollar producer Jerry Bruckheimer. He brought the studio four lucrative--but increasingly expensive--Pirates movies, among other hits like Crimson Tide, Armageddon, Enemy of the State, National Treasure and Remember the Titans. And he also delivered costly disappointments Prince of Persia, G-Force, Pearl Harbor, King Arthur and Sorcerer's Apprentice. But he was applying Pirates-level costs to a period western. Bruckheimer and Verbinski will presumably reduce the scale of their ambition to a mere $200 million and get back to work. ...

From famed producer Jerry Bruckheimer — who’s no stranger to Disney’s adventure films having been behind the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Prince of Persia and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice — G-Force tells the story of an elite team of crime-fighting guinea pigs who use their high-tech spy equipment as they race against the clock to save the world.
Among the actors voicing the guinea pigs are Nicolas Cage (Astro Boy ), Sam Rockwell (Moon), Jon Favreau (Couples Retreat), Penelope Cruz (Broken Embraces), Steve Buscemi (The Messenger) and Tracy Morgan (Death at a Funeral). This weekend, three new nationwide releases duke it out: Cowboys & Aliens rides on to approximately 5,600 screens at 3,750 locations, The Smurfs plucks around 5,400 screens at 3,395 locations (including 2,042 showing it in 3D), while Crazy, Stupid, Love. woos more than 3,300 screens at 3,020 locations. Throw in holdovers Captain America: The First Avenger and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and that's the Top Five for the weekend. Historical antecedents point to a 50-60 percent drop for Captain America, which would give Cowboys & Aliens the edge to claim first place this weekend. On paper, an action spectacle directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), starring Daniel Craig (James Bond) and Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones/Han Solo), co-written by Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci (Transformers, Star Trek), produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer and executive-produced by Steven Spielberg teams with box office potential. But Cowboys & Aliens has struggled in its extensive, year-long marketing campaign (including its Super Bowl spot). Sure,...

Summer's true heavy hitters, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, arrive in July. They were the frontrunners from the outset, and, since no May or June release has yet to hit $250 million, they have retained that status. The five top-grossing months ever are the last five Julys, and July 2010 holds the record with $1.32 billion. With Harry Potter, Transformers, the big screen debut of Captain America and a handful of other broadly appealing movies, July 2011 has an excellent shot at breaking that record.July 1Though Transformers: Dark of the Moon hits theaters on June 29, it's classified as a July release based on its first weekend. The last Transformers movie earned $402.1 million two years ago, though it established a reputation as a lousy movie (even director Michael Bay has frequently acknowledged that it's lacking). In this way, at least, Dark of the Moon is facing an uphill battle.

Kate Beckinsale & Jessica Biel Confirmed Bill Nighy loves to work but his quality meter is all over the place. What a long, strange trip it's been since the first "Hangover" film dropped in 2009. Who could predict that an original comedy starring three mid-level actors would gross hundreds of millions around the world, or that it would become the new standard of bromance comedy, or that you'd actually want to drink more after seeing where alcohol had led the wolf-pack?
But less surprising is how the careers of the actors involved have taken off. Almost all of the primary actors in "The Hangover" have found increased success in the biz, whether it's as action stars, comedic bit players, or reality TV stars.
How far have they come, and where are they going? Find out after the jump!

Okay, it's Friday, so let's have a little fun. We all know there's a lack of originality in Hollywood these days. Sequels, remakes and spin-offs abound. And one of the leading purveyors of this mindset is Mr. Blockbuster himself, Jerry Bruckheimer.
Ever wonder how action king Jerry Bruckheimer comes up with his many unoriginal ideas? Filmmaker Nathan Gotsch did and the result is his hilarious short film, Bruckheimer Pitch Meeting.
I have to say that while this flick is quite funny, it's also a little disconcerting. Because although I'm sure this is not how things really work, it feels like it could be — an exaggeration, sure, but still...how else does one explain G-Force, Bad Boys or all those freakin' CSI's?
So, enjoy the film below, laugh to yourself about how wacky yet unlikely it is, then head to the theater and watch Pirates of the Caribbean...Part Four. Not so funny now,...

HollywoodNews.com: In kinda shocking news, the patently mediocre Gnomeo and Juliet is still benefiting from the utter lack of real kid-flick competition for one more weekend and actually reached number one in its third weekend. Dropping just 26% in weekend three, the third-rate toon has still grossed $75 million and has a shot at $100 million. I’m sure Disney is just as flabbergasted by the stunning success of this one as I am. This was basically considered a dump until just a month or so ago. Expect much personal embarrassment if the more costly and high-profile Mars Needs Moms fails to outgross this ‘offbrand’ cartoon after it opens on March 11th. We need Rango now more than ever…
Personal anecdote: I actually took my three-year old to this during the week during a day off from preschool. She has been going to the movies with me periodically since...

Matt Edwards has been having a fictional conversation with Jerry Bruckheimer. Here's how it's been going...
Some time ago, I expressed to you all my interest in pursuing a pen pal relationship with action movie producer, Jerry Bruckheimer. At the time, I was becoming frustrated that the little man with the big kabooms had not responded to any of my handwritten letters or Twitter messages. Well, either things have changed since or I've lost a decent sized chunk of my mind and imagined a correspondence between the two of us.
I'm absolutely certain that this started somewhere in reality, when I received what can only be described as a spam message directly from Bruckheimer's Twitter account, advising me to check out his official websites. Not being the world class boob I'm frequently and aggressively referred to as, I was able to read between the lines. Jerry had reached out. He wanted me to make contact.

Jon Favreau has generated buzz when he confirmed recently he won't be back to direct "Iron Man 3". As rumor started to build up that money issues or lack of cohesiveness might be some of the reasons behind his departure, the 44-year-old set the record straight on what really prompted him to walk away from the billion-dollar franchise.
During an interview with Los Angeles Times, the "Couples Retreat" actor stressed that his main reason for leaving "Iron Man" franchise was to "find something that lights a fire" inside of him as a filmmaker. He also looked forward to get a chance to "blow people away", which he claimed is an easier task to do when a project "isn't loaded with built-in expectations".
Jon furthermore insisted that he remained friendly with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. "Marvel and I both came of age together," he explained. "The years that we shared were a pivotal experience.
